“I am so sick of anything that is fun, unique, quirky, stylish, or silly, being labeled as hipster as if it is some derogatory term. Just let people be happy doing what they like. Jeeze.”

TakeoWT on Apr 29, 2014 at 19:08:40

“It's only hipster when its promoted on social media, as is every facet of a hipster's life. Nobody needs to see kale marinated in IPA instagrammed for humblebragging purposes. Just eat it and keep it private and all is fine.”

“By the definition of a "hipster" proposed here by HuffPost, it would seem that everyone on the planet is a hipster - which in turn, cancels out the "hipster" moniker. You can't be a hipster if everyone else does it. Pickles Really? Pickles? and Brussel Sprouts? So my mom is a hipster? Kombucha? So people who drink that nasty crap are hipsters too? I know many who do - and they are not hip at all. This article succeeds in annoying people and driving traffic to HP. Congrats on that.”

James Marcus on Apr 16, 2014 at 13:31:44

“I agree to a point. This is a bad article and many of the foods presented are enjoyed by many an not just one group. As for the Hipster label, I think that people are just annoyed with any group that easily follows trends and show a lack of self identity. Ex, goth, emo, etc.”

J O R on Apr 16, 2014 at 10:44:24

“Post struck a nerve, eh? Another hipster thing is when one puts a reality check into the hipsters, holds a mirror in front of them, and they become defensive and throw a tantrum.”

Honey Hirsch on Apr 16, 2014 at 09:09:20

RickO on Apr 15, 2014 at 16:33:08

“I was thinking the same thing. I am far from hipster (I hate PBR) but I eat most of those foods often and actually make my own kimchi (and I learned to make it in Korea). So people should lighten up on what they think hipsters should lighten up about. They may be quirky and ironically ironic, but judging by this list they have pretty good taste, except for the PBR.”

“And if people didn't find the concept appealing in the first place then it would never have caught on as a trend. No one ever forced women to shave their legs. When the idea was introduced, they must have liked it and spread around that it's a good thing to do, why else would it be popular today? And don't say commercials, because we both know that's not true.”

boxerrebellion1 on Apr 9, 2014 at 23:59:34

“Women have been removing hair for thousands of years. Threading and waxing are ancient. It's not like it's a new trend. Besides being aesthetic, it's hygenic...sniff your pits several times a day for a week... then shave them and repeat the process - see if you don't notice a difference. I've always thought the idea of antiperspirant getting gooped up in underarm hair sort of gross.”

“No, because when you live with another person, you assume the risk that they can consent to a search when you're not there, because of their own 4A rights in the property. That's a risk you take. The SCOTUS simply is saying that being under arrest is equivalent to not being there. The woman could easily have refused and the cops would not have been able to enter without a warrant.”

“A lawful arrest is also a lawful seizure. A co-resident's consent to have a home search in the absence of the other co-resident is also lawful. All they did here was say that his arrest makes him absent, and therefore the other co-tenant's consent is ok for a search. Not a 4A violation at all.”

“So the response is simply that it is also her home, and she was present in it while he was under arrest. So why is her consent not valid? They still hold that his refusal would trump so long as he is in his house.”

Cera2 on Feb 25, 2014 at 20:20:16

“He had objected; the officers knew of his objection. They went back to the home without a warrant anyway and convinced another party to essentially override his objection.
This opens the door for extreme abuse; where if a person objects the are just detained or arrested and the police move to the next person effectively taking away the individuals fourth amendment rights.”

“Which enumerated right are you alleging is violated in this holding? Their entry still requires a resident's consent before entering the house... previously, a co-resident could deny consent and would win, now all they're saying is that her consent means more while he is under lawful arrest.”

“The requirement here is a lawful arrest before the arrestees refusal to consent to the search can be trumped by his spouses consent... they can always challenge the legality of the arrest if you are concerned about abuse here... Otherwise it makes sense that a resident of the home can consent to search while the other resident is under arrest.”

Scott Winters on Feb 25, 2014 at 23:56:43
