TED KENNEDY DEAD: Legendary Senator Passes Away From Brain Cancer (VIDEO)
Commented Aug 26, 2009 at 08:55:55 in Politics
“All people in America owe a debt of gratitude to Ted Kennedy for all that he has championed for the poor, the young, and the disadvantaged. His passing comes at a time where partisan politics has blinded many of those for whom he tirelessly fought. Teddy's legacy is one of compassion, redemption and perseverence. The Kennedy family has given voice to the many who are all too often forgotten and ignored. Back in the early 90's I befriended Ted Kennedy Jr. and was moved by being provided a glimpse of commitment of the Kennedy Clan to "Give back" and utilize thier fame and fortune to make our world a better place. As mere mortals like all of us they too are entitled to their shortcomings. In the face of great adversity each member of the Kennedy family has fought back and always come back to their primary purpose of a life of public service. My condolences to the family and especially Teddy Jr. and Kiki and family.

“Bravo Keith. The most tragic aspect of all this is people have been duped into shilling for those who work against their best interests. The type of behavior we are witnessing at these town halls threaten the very fabric of our democracy. As a progressive it is not my motive to villify the Republican party or the conservative movement. It is my motive to somehow discern that will be best for all Americans. There are millions of suffering people who need health care. Providing it would not only provide relief for individuals and families, it would strengthen the health of the Republic at the same time.”

“Here's the solution: People who continue to believe the Birther Insanity after it's been debunked with a preponderance of evidence to the contrary would be subject to Baker Acting since continuing to cling to such an insane claim lends proof to the fact that they are demonstratively nuts. They present a clear danger to themselves, (don't cha wanna just kill 'em?) and to others, (They jeopardize the well being of those of us who are sane)”

The Loyal Opposition
Commented Feb 20, 2009 at 21:29:07 in Politics
“Joe, maintaining a tenor of civility while expressings ones viewpoint goes a long way in making the message more palatable to the opposition. Both left and right can be found to be quite vitriolic within the context of the blogosphere. As pointed out here by others, the anonymity of this medium makes it easy for one to spew hate and venom but in no way reflects the general attitude of most who visit sites. A large portion of what ails America is a result of the extreme polarizaion of the 2 party system and the resultant gridlock in Congress. The Republicans have exemplified Party over principle to a new level over the past 8 years and any hope for redemption in America will be contingent upon moving away from such a position. I salute Obama in that he exudes an aura of civility and seems to truely want to promote a new era of cooperation and a bipartisan effort to work towards solutions to the grave problems that America is faced with. The prevalent atmosphere of partisan politics and news as well makes it difficult to discern fact from fiction in this current era . Although I often disagree with your position I respect what you bring to the general discourse and that most often you are respectful of the opposition. Keep posting!!!”

McCain Grilled On "The View": Sarah Palin, His Abortion Stance, His Obama Attack Ads, And More
Commented Sep 12, 2008 at 16:24:14 in Politics
“Any person with any semblance of honest appraisal knows that Obama was not referring to Palin when he made those comments. McClones campaign is commited to slander, lying and distraction and utilizing Rovian tactics to muddy the water and goes to any length to talk about anything except the issues. They can't talk about the Economy... they have no solutions and are responsible for supporting the policies which have led to the mess this Country is in. They can't talk about the failed policy of the Iraq occupation. They can't talk about diplomacy, they can't talk about energy, they can't talk about the Government being beholden by lobbyists. .. since McClones campaign is filled with them. I can only pray that America is smarter this time around and won't fall for the same old politics of attack and smear. Even if America votes to elect Obama who is to say they won't steal the election by caging lists and voter suppression and hacking voting machines. Face it, the modern day republican party has screwed up America beyond what anyone could have ever imagined 20 years ago. If this charleton is elected with his Caribou Barbie extremist wingnut VP ... we will be screwed beyond repair.”
GOP Omerta On Palin Withdrawal

“With each new tidbit of Palindrone ... I continually find myself starting to throw up in my mouth. The hubris and hypocrisy is just to much to stomach. To think that millions of Americans buy into that utter garbage is truely disheartening.”

Obama Berlin Speech: Reagan, Kennedy Comparisons; More Media Reactions
Commented Jul 24, 2008 at 18:48:30 in Politics
“Obama represents the best hope we have for America and in rebuilding Americas world image as a leader and bastion of freedom and democracy. In spite of his shortcomings he is obviously the better choice than McCain for anyone who pragmatically conducts an honest appraisal of what we need to do to change the direction we are moving in. The fact that Obama is not miles ahead in the polls speaks poorly of America's ability to move ahead and get us back on track. The only explanation is that there is still too much engrained racism and prejudice and a press which is complicit with the neocon agenda and the military industrial complex.”

“Any Democrat who states they would vote for McCain obviously doesn't think it through. Although the Democratic race has become contentious if not outright nasty, stating that one would vote for McCain shows a complete lack of understanding of both the gravity and an understanding of the issues at stake in this election. In terms of policy and substance there is little difference between Clinton and Obama. The biggest issue is in terms of leadership style and the ability to form a coalition so as to break the deadlock that exists in Washington. So, to those who make such reckless comments.. . please, please think it through and don't let your emotions make you bitter to the point of cutting off your nose to spite your face.”

Meet The (White) Man Who Inspired Wright's Controversial Sermon
Commented Mar 21, 2008 at 21:14:00 in Politics
“We have suffered through a long period of watching the demise of the American experiment at the hands of poor leadership smitten by the Corpratocracy. Along comes a man, the first in over a generation who's name, but for an altered consonant or vowel here or there sounds ironically like some of the major figures of our age. Barak = Iraq, Hussein, no explanation needed, Obama = Osama. He is a mix of Black and White and stands before us with a message which challenges us to move beyond our differences and come together to forge a new coalition, a new majority which has the courage to look upon the challenges which face us at this moment in history and begin to work together to carve out a new future for America and it's future generations. I consider myself to be spiritual rather than religious having lost faith in organized religion which asks me to accept on faith alone things which do not fly in the face of reality and are at the same time counter to my own moral sensibilities and compass. That having been said, I am of the belief that if there is in fact a God, perhaps he has sent us this man to help show us the way back upon the path that the founders intended for us to tread. If America fails to recognize the promise that this man represents for us all and allows him to be slandered and persecuted by the media and Pharisees of our time, then there is little hope for the salvation of America. We cannot endure another presidency like the ones we have recently experienced. There is a deep malaise in the homes of America. The loss of hope and faith and a sense of unity are becoming more prevalent with each passing day and news cycle. We have never been so divided, so polarized, and so distracted. The time is now, the man is Obama. All we need do is let him lead.”

Commented Mar 16, 2008 at 16:59:10 in Media
“Factcheck time! Would you agree to the notion that the candidate who gets the most delagates from a State is the winner? If so, then you'd have to agree that Obama was the winner in Texas. After all the votes were counted for both the Primary and the Caucus, Obama garnered more delagates than Clinton. So people who hold out as fact the notion that Clinton was the winner in Texas, they are being disingenuious at best.”
John Gibson Loses Fox News Show, Colbert Makes Fun
Commented Mar 13, 2008 at 23:24:04 in Media
“Fox news is within reasonable standards? You have got to be kidding. Faux Noose never let the facts get in the way of a good story. People who follow Fox are not unlike the followers of Jim Jones. There is something inherently flawed with the perceptual ability of anyone who subscribes to the views espoused on Faux. It is either the result of a slow brain washing and indoctrination or is a genetic anomaly that inhibits the capacity for pragmatic thought and deductive reasoning. Throw in a bit of exclusionary apocalyptic religous sentiment and there you have it... the prototypical Faux Noose viewer. All that said... I'll pray for your salvation.”
