Apple CEO Steve Jobs Takes $1 Salary In 2009

“Boy, you really are the bitter little Windows lapdog aren't you Gover? But you are a "real American" that's for sure. Always caring about price and nothing more. Is your time not worth any money? Because I know mine is, and when I sit down to get work done on my computer I don't really like sweating out whether or not the thing will even work. The amount of time I've wasted in my life trying to get a piece of junk Windows machine to do what I want it to definitely costs more than the amount I paid for my Mac.”
Gover replied on Dec 24, 2009 at 11:27:22
“Not particularly.
I use Windows because it supports home-built hardware better than Linux. First OS that does that better and I'll switch.
Sure my time's worth money but PCs have never slowed me down compared to MACs.
They're just tools. One just cost twice as much and doesn't do any better of a job in the grand scheme of things. If I use the PC at a public library and it's a MAC I don't freak out demanding a PC. I just use the thing, get it done, and get on with my life.
I have nothing against MACs. They're fine computers. They've just brainwashed people with marketing to pay absolutely outrageous prices.”

“He also said he was against mandates. What's you're argument for that one mancoff? Face it, he lied, lied, lied about plenty of things during the campaign. And instead of taking the reigns and making decisions FDR style, he's decided to lead like Jimmy Carter. Good job there, Mr. President. I guess we'll have to deal with 8 more years of crappy Republicans starting in 2010 now that this guy stabbed his supporters in the back.”
mancoff replied on Dec 23, 2009 at 01:13:59
“He always said people would have to take health insurance and be required to pay for insurance and if they couldn't the government would help them. he said people could not choose to do without insurance and then expect the government to pick up the tab when they showed up in the emergency room. he alway said everyone would be required to have insurance, always, He never ever lied about having a mandate about insurance. In fact having people required to buy insurance was one of Hillary's biggest arguments with him. He didn't lie. Obama supporters are the one stabbing him in the back. They aren't willing to stick with him and support him through the tough times and to give him more than one year to do what needs to be done. They give him no credit for all he has achieved. They are spoiled and want obama to hand them what they want, when they want it and they want it all now, in one year. if you get 8 eight more years of crappy republicans in 2010, you derserve it because you didn't stand by a good thing when you had it.”
Beatriz09 replied on Dec 22, 2009 at 19:43:36
“Of course he didn't lie. He has always said that he wanted a public option and no mandate but that these were NOT his priorities. That means that he will do everything to get them included in the final bill, but if the final bill corresponds to his priorities, he will sign it, even if not everything that he wanted is in it.

“Look at the different classes of cars though. Sure, their trucks are top notch, but I have a 2002 Ford Focus and the thing has been crap for 6 years now. I don't even drive it anymore unless it's an absolute emergency because I never know what else is going to fall off. Just the other day I was sweeping snow off it and a piece around the rear lock came off with the snow. My wife had a 2000 Honda Civic with twice the miles and the thing purred like a kitten until she was rear-ended by a jeep and it suffered a premature death in 2007. Our new Honda Civic has never needed anything more than tires and oil changes. I would have gotten a new car years ago but the crappy economy forced me to go back to school and now I take public transportation for fear of breaking down and not being able to afford to fix something on that Ford junk.”

Olympia Snowe Will Vote Against Health Care Reform

“I still can't figure out how this bill is even remotely called healthcare reform. Mandating insurance without price controls? It seems to me that is just robbery, nothing more. These very same mandates are the reason I didn't vote for Hillary. Had I known this, I just wouldn't have voted at all. I'm officially giving up on both major parties in this country. I just can't see any substantial difference anymore. Every time the Republicans move further right the Democrats follow right along. I've never felt more hoodwinked than I am over the past year of the Presidency. I truly believed we were getting a JFK/FDR type leader and instead we got a center right version of Jimmy Carter. That's just f-ing great. I'm just thankful I decided to go to law school. Since it's even more of an "every-man -for-himse lf" fight for survival in this country that degree should help keep me afloat while the majority of the masses drown.”

“Yes, because losing one sponsor is really a big deal. Give me a break. Most of you people are treating this as if he was a serial killer or something. He lost his accenture deal, that's it. And that was more because the whole advertising package was built around his playing. If he's taking time off, what's the point of that advertising? Gatorade already was ending their deal before all this happened.
The problem with all of this is Tiger's PR people. They've forced an image that was never really him. He's the guy who drops F bombs on the course, throws clubs when he's ticked, and sometimes tells un-PC jokes. In other words, he's a regular guy. If he would just come out as that person he'd probably have more fans than ever before.”

“P&G (Gillette) and Tag Heuer are considering dropping him too. I agree he's not a murderer, but that doesn't matter to sponsors. If you negatively affect the bottom line, you will be gone, even if all you did was take an ice cream cone from a toddler.”

“The problem is, they wholeheartedly added to the problem with Obama's obsession with the fiction of "bipartisa nship." THAT's what doomed them from the start. The trouble the White House is in right now if solely of their own making. They could have rammed through anything they wanted, and when the Republicans tried to oppose it they could have used the bully pulpit to turn the American People against the stall tactics. Instead Obama went ahead with policies he campaigned against, and put people in charge who could give 2 $hits about the American people.
At this point, I'm not even voting next year past the primary, since I'm in PA and we most likely won't even have a Democratic nominee for Senate. There's never a real race for Congress either. “Nope. Dismissal of her action is required. You're all blaming the wrong party!!!
It's not like cell phones were developed for the sole purpose of talking in your car. They were developed so that you could talk to people everywhere. And you know what they were also developed to replace? the CAR PHONE!!!! why can't you people just blame the individual?
These companies didn't put a gun to the drivers' heads and say, "answer the phone. NOW!" I rarely even look at my phone in the car when it rings. But I'd sure as hell be ticked off if I couldn't pull over and use the phone. I just did it the other day. My wife asked me to get a phone number from an apartment building nearby. I drove by and got the number, pulled into a space just past the building, and texted her the number. And I should be allowed to do so.
You're just asking for a technological and legal nightmare if you're asking for something to be installed in cars to render the phones inoperable.”

“Then by your reasoning the defendants in this case should be car companies and not the cell phone manufacturers. It just shows how convoluted and poorly thought out this whole issue is. You wanna sue somebody? Sue the driver who was the perpetrator in this action. By all means that person or his estate should be bled dry.
But in American society, it's all about blaming everybody else. Everybody just needs to take a step back and exercise some personal responsibility in their lives. I bet even this woman has answered her cell phone in a car.”

“Yes, because god forbid someone finds this lawsuit ridiculous from a "personal responsibility" standpoint. Is cell phone use distracting and a problem? Absolutely, but it's the responsibility of the legislature and the individual drivers, not the cell phone companies. What are they supposed to do, invent a phone that somehow turns itself off when it enters a car? What about passengers? It's clearly an attempt to get money on this woman's part, nothing more.
You know what else is distracting in a car? Food. It's definitely distracting enough to cause accidents. Are you going to sue every restaurant that has a drive through window?
You know what else is distracting in a car? Music. I can guarantee there have been more than a few accidents caused by the distraction of messing with the radio. Are you going to sue the car companies and the electronics companies who make the car stereos?
It's crap like this lawsuit that just gives fuel to the ridiculous cackling on the right about "tort reform." Now, anyone with half a brain knows what the right wants is to limit ANY payout by rich people for their own misdeeds, no matter how outrageous their negligence might be. But when they get to use lawsuits like this as their "proof," it works to help convince their knuckle dragging wal-mart followers that the cause is "just."”
