“when my husband broke his ankle about five years ago it cost us over $6k, and we were insured at the time! and that was just in medical bills, that didn't include the six weeks he was supposed to be off work, as he only lasted two bc we needed the money. that $6k that we owed was more than a quarter of our income at the time.”
