I almost spit my lunch on the keyboard with some of those lines!
Seriously, we can't tax the unhealthy stuff, but it would be great if there were a good way to educate people and discourage the bad habits.”

“People do know, but they are in denial. Every morbidly obese person I know drinks oodles and oodles of diet soda a day. I have two morbidly obese people in my life that I have urged them to just stop drinking soda - of course they come back with 'it's only zero/one calorie'. You can show them articles, health studies, whatever and they dont want to believe it.”

As long as there are "for profit" capitalists running the industry, we the patients will always be behind profits.
Also, people with limited income often decide to spend the money they have in hand on daily living expenses and DO NOT save it for the rainy day. That is a fact.”

So basically, she is screwed if her cancer comes back.
This must change. NOW. I plan on doing what I can to fight the lies, greed and corruption. Regardless of what you righties say, most of that is coming from your side.”

“How selfish! You need to think about the greater good for society like rich people or 60% that pay taxes forking their wealth over to the 40% that don't. Shame on you for thinking only about your sister's well being instead of the many who could have preventative care with the same money that will go for your sister's treatment. She had treatment once. That's enough! The expert panel has decided that government money should be spent better taking care of others.”

“She would be in the same boat even if she switched jobs. Congress could solve her problem right now if they passed one simple law that said " coverage can not be denied due to a pre-existing condition." that would give her instant results. Instead they are cramming the public option down our throats. They would do better to eat the elephant one bite at a time.”

Could Obama Be Overthrown?

“I now believe that the reason Rush and so many others "want this President to fail" is to validate their belief that white people are superior to people of color. It has nothing to do with his "socialist agenda" or "liberal extremist policies".
These are the kind of people who wanted to keep major sports teams white. When that failed, they saw many athletes of color rise to the top of their field. Having Tiger Woods and the Williams sisters dominate sports that were slow to accept AAs provides more salt in their wounded egos.
I believe these bigots can rationalize the sports superiority by claiming it is because of physical strength and prowess. They want to cling to intellectual superiority. If Obama suceeds (I hope and pray and believe he will), then that notion is gone.
They will be left with nothing.”

“No, what they'll be left with is what they've had all along, which gives them the cold sweats:
If we don't keep these people down, with our foot on their necks, we'll wake up some day on the floor with their foot on our necks. We must do anything it takes to keep that from happening.
They don't believe in race-blind citizenship, equality and opportunity for all. They believe in inequality, and that if they're not on top, they'll be on the bottom.
History gives their argument lots of examples, mainly when the formerly oppressed go for revenge. An egalitarian society is not a default state, it takes a lot of damn hard work. Their way just requires lots of blood.
Which will it be?”
