Afghanistan Withdrawal Date: 'Flexible' Or 'Locked In'?

Commented Dec 04, 2009 at 22:55:32 in World

“The Democrats are always trying to please every one, and in the process they lose.
They end up looking weak because of their innate fear of being called, weak by
Republicans. Obama should have said, I am not sending one more troop to be
killed in the hell hole that is Afghanistan. But that would have taken real courage,
and guts. It would be the opposite of weak - it would have been strong.
But Obama is not strong, not a leader - he does what the Republicans want,
while ignoring those who got him elected. The Republicans never
try to please Democrats - they ignore the Democrats, and do whatever they want.
There was never a talk of - 60 votes with Bush - never. He got everything through with
51 votes. The Democrats are terrified to try that. So here we are - with Obama esclating
a war, while he is on his way to picking up the Nobel Peace Prize.
Change, Reform, - now nothing more than a dusty campaign slogan.”

Obama's Afghanistan Plan: 30,000 Troops, No Endless Committment

Commented Dec 01, 2009 at 11:41:51 in Politics

“This is insane. It makes no sense, sending more troops to die in the hell hole that is
Afghanistan is unconscionable. Obama has proven to be a disaster, he has ignored the
very serious problems here at home. We have no money for healthcare, education, the
environment, but there are billions to built schools in Afghanistan. How can we just
stand by and allow this to happen? How can we just look the other way? How long are people
going to keep saying, he inherited all of this? He is esclating the war - he is sending more
troops. This is HIS WAR NOW. He is cowed by Generals who as Keith Olbermann brilliantly
pointed out on his commentary (last night) are LIARS. McChrystal showed total disrespect for
his Commander-in-Chief, President Obama. McChrystal LIED to Pat Tilliman's family - and
LIED to everyone about what happened to this brave young man. Instead of Obama showing
real leadership and saying to the Generals, No, I will not continue this endless war, not one
more troop will I send to their deaths in Afghanistan. Instead, in his fear of not looking weak,
Obama shows how weak, and lacking even a gram of leadership he is.
Can the Democrats say - No, we will NOT give you the money to send more troops?
They are of course, as weak as Obama. He has proven to be a disaster on everything - the
economy, jobs, healthcare, and now this...
Obama out in 2012.”

The Rs can get away with pushing a bill through because they believe in it and they are in line with the folks that put them in office. It was the Democrats who kept telling us - "when we have the 60 votes, we will be able to
do all the things Democrats want." Well, they got the 60 votes - and can't deliver anything!
And now some Democrats want tighter abortion rules here. How many times do they have to
be told - no federal funds will be used to pay for abortions? BUT THEY SHOULD PAY FOR THEM -
ABORTIONS ARE LEGAL MEDICAL PROCEDURES! THEY SHOULD BE COVERED.
Viagra is covered - and there is no outrage about that.
This bill is an insult - not a joke - an insult.
It insults women, men, children.
It should have been Single Payer - Medicare for All.

“Dr. Dean has always been 1000% correct on healthcare reform. He should be headed up HHS, not
Sebelius (sp). And the blame for the disaster that is this bill rests in Obama's hands.
He took Single Payer off the table, before the talks began - and was on his knees to
the Republicans from day one. The bill was never and is still not being explained to the
American people - and not in thousands of pages - but in straight forward facts.
What's in it?
Who is covered?
What isn't covered?
Why is it going to take years to implement?
Why should a person be fined for not wanting or not
being able to afford purchasing it?
The great orator was MIA - on this, leaving it to others to explain - leaving it
to others to provide lukewarm LEADERSHIP - while he supplied NONE.
This bill is an insult - and opting for the "something is better than nothing," is absurd.
This bill is so watered down, so weak, it's a disgrace and an insult. And the Democrats
will be in "deep trouble," because once again, as always they wimped out.
They have the House, the Senate and the White House - and they still can't get things
through and that begins with Obama. He acts like the Republicans won and are in
charge. He has shown ZERO leadership on healthcare - and everything else.

“The corruption in our government is too powerful to overcome. That is why this country is in the horrible mess that it is currently in. Nothing is going to change. There has been a huge shift, and this country is sliding into the abyss at an alarming rate. The people who are in control are very intelligent and know exactly what they are doing. They are dismantling the heart of this country. Our country is currently on life support. People of this country need to realize that our governmental system is broken. Greed has taken the place of democracy and justice. Our government continues with its little charades and pretends to be addressing some of the issues, when in truth they are just puppets whose strings are being pulled by the banks, military, corporations, Wall Street, and lobbyist. How do the citizens of the country address and correct this monumental problem of a government that is against it very citizens?”

Ant replied on Nov 23, 2009 at 16:01:37

Second, the only reason why you would be purchasing insurance through the exchange is if you have no insurance or if you choose to purchase through it.”

Why do you NOT want the people of your state to have the same kind of outstanding health
care insurance you have - that WE PAY FOR - FOR YOU?
These 4 can't be shamed - but they can be called out - and SINCE THEY RAIL AGAINST

This entire bill is an insult - forcing people to buy insurance, and if they don't

of landing a job. This should have been Single Payer - pure and simple.
But Obama is so weak, so cowed by the Republicans, he caved before any
