America Without a Middle Class

America Without a Middle Class

Commented Dec 03, 2009 at 00:13:58 in Business

“Really well said...

Yes the real attack upon the Middle Class started under Reagan...it's been 28 years of erosion and betrayal and abandonment all by design and half of the Middle Class supported it, the Republican base especially voting against their own best interest over and over and they'll still do it, look a Palin they actually think she's some kind of leader, and would even vote for her..!”

“Bob Herbert of the NY Times said it best....

"The Class War is Over, and We Lost..!"

The assault on our Middle Class has been intentional and relentless it's Rockefeller and that bunch of International bankers the elite they did not want to deal with or share with a sound educated middle class...!

We've been abandoned by The Capitalists, they prefer doing business with Communists...!”

Over40 replied on Dec 02, 2009 at 23:51:56

“You have it right. The corporate and other powerful interests have very smartly used
the republican party and wedge issues to divide the middle class electorate and I must
say it has worked wonderfully for them. On top of this, the middle class has largely rested on their laurels for the last 30 years without realizing or taking responsibility for the fact that rights and the
progress made have to be continually defended. And another poster mentioned people watching "Dancing with the stars" and munching Cheetos" and yes, that kind of mindless apathy is definitely a real problem that has been carefully cultivated by the same powerful interests. Is it any coincidence that there's nothing on TV outside of PBS (which, thank God, we still have) that requires a thinking audience?

Also, before some smart-mouth under-40 person blames the Boomers for this mess, let me say
that it really took off with the Reagan administrations and I totally doubt the boomers voted for Reagan en mass. He got in with the votes of our parents and the generation immediately after us.”

“We'd have had a full scale economic meltdown by now if the GOP won. We still might have it. It depends on AFghanistan. If he escalates that war, it's a good chance that this country will collapse. It's all still being put on a credit card that was maxed out long, long ago. And why are we doing it? Because "these colors don't run." I can't believe he's going to fall for it, but it looks like he is. 30,000 plus more troops while our states go bankrupt and our people get tossed in the street. He could still stop it, but I doubt it now. He's too afraid of the military brass. I didn't think he would be so spineless about it. God, I'm getting mad.”

So, if it's so easy for criminals to get guns at gun shows, why aren't they doing it? Hell, why aren't we all doing it?”

“This is a clear threat to National and Homeland Security...”

Matrsnot replied on Nov 22, 2009 at 10:25:51

“The purpose of the 2d Amendment is to fight tyranny. The forefathers recognized that government can and probably will be corrupted (as it is now). The American Revolution began over gun rights. The Brits wanted them and the colonists had a small objection. Words exchanged and then shots fired. Well the same condition existes today, except now it is the tories like Helmke who desire to disarm the American public. Why? Certainly not so the "children" will be safer. I trained my children about firearms and thus made them safer. Ignorance is the ultimate problem.”
