“Oh people relax ... it's all about the fun. I'm an American trying to learn German and I can tell you; the laughter that fell from my German girl friend (born and raised in Northern Germany - and yes, it makes a huge difference what part of Germany) was too funny for even me not to laugh at myself.

I think Germans have a tongue thing going when they're speaking their native language - I could listen all day [ I spend a lot of time on the History channel as you may be able to tell]. Anyway, lets smile...makes the recession a little easier to endure ;)”

“What did the Repugs in was the Internet; with access to information, people were no longer tied to the MSM for information. People were/are able to check and cross check issues, able to inform themselves. Once reasonable people are presented with the facts and are free from the mind and perception control of editorial boards we were/are able to move along.

If the left want to continue to win elections, they must master the sources of information, they must put forward articulate people able to communicate. It's able information, who has it , who controls it. The old ways the Repugs won elections had to do with controlling the media; but they can't control the internet.

That should be taken to heart by both parties; you can lie to the people but we are now able to find the truth on our own.”

“I'm not sure that's universally true; depending on who you are, your sex, race, sexual preferences, etc... The 'Leave it to Beaver' era and all it represents only conjures up in my mind subjection and narrow mindedness.

That time period in American was only good for one group of Americans; White American males; everybody else to the back of the bus.

No thank you!!!”

“Yep, I think it's a good thing for the repugs to keep talking...after so many wild and crazy stories, most people wake up to the foolishness and those that don't; well, doesn't matter...you can't reach them with reason anyway. There is nothing a sane person to can say that would mean anything to them.

We all know that a certain percentage of Americans are CRAZY! Let them be CRAZY, we can't stop that, in fact, that's what America is about. Here, in this country, you're free to be as crazy as you like and when your craziness reaches its tipping point, people tune out.

I say; KEEP'EM TALKING!!!!”

“Absolutely right, this is nothing more than a hand out to the insurance industry, to hell with the sick. I'm betting many rightwingers will quote the bible: "you'll always have the poor among you" as justification to do nothing but the same thing we've done. The problem is; THEY WON'T SAY IT STRAIGHT OUT. They'd rather lie and convince us that it's alright to go to sleep now, we shouldn't hurt the little insurance industry by making them compete.

What the insurance industry is really afraid of is true capitalism; when they actually have to compete, lower cost, claw back some of the 1.2 million dollar bathroom decorating budget.

Let the public option live; let it bring capitalism to a country that CLAIMS to love capitalism; let the insurance companies really compete for our business. If some fail, that's ok; THAT'S THE GLORY OF CAPITALISM, OTHERS WILL RISE!!!”

treetracker replied on Sep 02, 2009 at 00:37:43

“Capitalism is one thing...I love the "free market" BS --- not a single corporation in this country does not get some type of tax subsidy, tax break or tax loophole. Hence 75% of corporations paid ZERO tax in 2007. Not one single penny.

So while Ms. Jenkins decries "subsidizing everyone in the room" - we the people are subsidizing their masters.

I am just one fed up citizen.

Oh, and here's the icing on the cake for the pharmaceutical companies. A little ditty called the Bayh-Dole act. You can read about it and how it is NOT applied here: http://www.cptech.org/ip/health/bd/arnodavis012001.pdf

We the taxpayer fund the pharmaceutical/universities to develop drugs for which we are supposed to receive a benefit in the form of pricing and we get NOTHING but end up paying twice, once to help create the drug and then again to pay an exorbitant price for it. All the while they get a tax subsidy for all that dam ned advertising they do, among other tax breaks. Not to mention huge profits! This country is so screwed up, I don't think it CAN be fixed!”

“Are your parents on welfare or public aid? I think the key word in your comment is "sounding" - strange, how it doesn't "sound" like welfare or public aid when you're calling the police of fire department for help...strange, how your sensibilities aren't disturbed by that bit of welfare.

Since the government doesn't have money of its own; people using the public option are using what they have paid for [more or less like social security, but don't use that term; it has the word "social" SOUNDS like SOCIAL-ISM to me]. But, then I bet you think unemployment benefits is welfare too...humm.

Well, you enjoy being gouged by the insurance companies, they love people like you. Oh, when you're sick and their 'panels' deem you high risk and drop you or you lose your job and your insurance; go ask the insurance industry what you should do.

Maybe one of those execs sitting around their big conference table, driving their many cars, or sitting in their 1.2 million dollar bathroom [that you paid for, but can't use] will have mercy on you and pay your bill [NOT].

Enjoy!!!”

You know, the memo that says "we've learn so much after 2008; we learned that Jenga at home is better then a nice fat juicy steak at those fancy boring restaurants and how nice it is to have friends over and crowed around that 3" TV in the freakin' garage [if you still have one]"

I just love how they're trying to convince us that we're better off now, now that WE'VE learned the wonderful lesson of less!

Strange how they've NOT cut back; they still eating at those restaurants and watch their 500" TV in their 1.2 million dollar bathrooms. And fighting with everything they've got to keep the status-quo!

Whew, I feel so much better learning how to do without and I'm glad the insurance industry and Wall Street feel it's 'morning in America' again. I got the memo, I got it alright - GAG !!!”

This is just what they want, us spinning our wheels and losing focus. They know American's have short attention spans and are nervous about disagreement.

The last 8 years of Bush has proven; do what you want and let history be your judge alone. It's not about those of us alive today, they're looking for their place in history and the powers that control them are looking to maintain the status-quo. “Huh, they had the chance when they started. They choose this path, sure, they received encouragement; but, I'm doubting the USB banker happened to be driving pass their company, just dropping in for tea and biscuits when the subject of a successful TAX EVASION plan just popped up as the biscuit crumbs fell from the bankers lips.

They need to pay what they owe just like the person owing $1000 would be hounded to hell by the IRS if they didn't pay. These people benefited from the infrastructure that you and I are paying for at threat of loss of everything if we rub the IRS the wrong way.

Why should they get a break; hell, give me a break from paying taxes for a year, I've been a good boy. But you're saying they should be given a break "amnesty" because they chose to steal from all of us by not paying what they owe and then trying to conceal it and costing us more trying to track them down!

No, I'm sorry, I don't understand your point....how is justice served?”
