The Odds of Love

Commented Jul 12, 2012 at 01:02:17 in College

“It's not just about "love" and "compatibility". Long-term, forever marriages can not just be built on love. They're built on mutual respect, honesty, support, career/life advancement (whatever that means to you both), and shared experiences, in addition to love. But no, I'm sorry, love and compatibility alone does not a marriage make. There are days that I don't feel in love with my wonderful husband, but I ALWAYS respect him. If I lose respect for him, that's so much more damming to our mariage than if I lose my love for him for a moment, a day, a week, a month.”

On NYC Subways, It's Kids' Breakfasts Vs. Rats

Commented Feb 29, 2012 at 12:03:00 in New York

“I happen to feed my 4 year old son on our hour long ride to his school/ my work. I could wake him up earlier to feed him, then take him to school, but then he's going to get hungry before lunch. I could wake him up, take him to school, and buy breakfast each day for him before school, but that gets expensive, and cuts into his sleep time. So, I feed him on the train. We do not leave food on the train or empty bottles or packaging. Usually its healthy cereal in a baggy and water in a reusable bottle. I work hard to send him to a good school. Unfortunately, there are no good schools near my home to send him to. At the catholic school his friend attends near our home, there is 1 teacher for two classes and 1 aid (yes, I know this is illegal, but, sadly, true). I'm not sending my son to that environment.”
