Will The Unemployment Disaster Be Obama's Katrina?

“Those trillions were approved by the Bush administration, and even McCain pushed the package. I think it's unfair that Arianna is laying all of this on Obama and Dems, when the Repugs had far more to do with the situation than any Dem. Bear in mind, it was the Bush administration that originally got us into this mess!”

“I remember as a smaller child, my family always ate as, well, a family. Those were happier times. By the time I was in high school, that had changed. First dad, then the rest started eating while watching TV. Communication and conversation was lost. In fact, it was discouraged, and I found myself missing the quiet sharing of our daily lives. When I'm married and have kids, I know I'm going to push for family meals.
As to cooking, I also enjoyed not just the foods, but the PROCESS of cooking. That, at least, is something my family has never lost. When I visit, I still cook with my mother.”

“oops. part of my last comment didn't post right in the last line (3 words were deleted putting a completely different meaning on the sentence)
Be careful with the Vitamin D. I'd take a more conservative approach of 1000 IU daily. The lipid based drugs are processed by the liver and excesses are not excreted in the way water soluble drugs are, and over time high doses can lead to toxicities. Some people may get toxicities with 2000 IU daily after a few months (as low as 1250 IU daily for 4 months can cause toxicity), and many more would develop toxicities with the 5000-10000 IU he's suggesting. This can lead to organ calcifications and organ failure, as well as neurological effects from hypercalcemia.
Vitamin D is good, but you need to be responsible with it and with any of the lipid based vitamins. Don't kill yourself to stay healthy. I take 1000 IU vitamin D daily.

“Like any other vitamin, your body only needs so much. Anymore than what is required is a waste and can actually be damaging.
Unfortunately we see a lot of the idea that:
If some is good....
More must be better....
And far too much must be just about right.
And it just doesn't really work that way.”

“Dr. Oz said 1000 IU is reasonable and recommended that amount per day. One might factor in the supplement to whatever multi-vitamin you take with it. Your points about vitamin toxicities at excessive levels should definitely be heeded. Good advice.”

“If I hadn't had health insurance, I'd either be dead today, or I'd be on medicaid and disability, going in for dialysis three times a week, sucking public funds, rather than being a healthy, contributing member of society, paying taxes and generating revenue.
We NEED health reform in EVERY area, and we NEED a public option. Sure, I am insurred, but it is because my family was able to afford the cost (I was on COBRA when I was ill). I'm the minority, and I know that if things had been different, my life would be far different today. As it is, if my insurance ever lapses, my pre-existing conditions make me uninsurable. I've worked full time through my medical school pre-clinical studies just to maintain health insurance. Here's my full public statement on health reform:

Elected Birthers on the Hill

“John McCain was born in Panama... Obama was born in Hawaii. Who's more constitutionally sound as President? Birthers will say McCain because BOTH of McCain's parents were US citizens. The reality is, there's no difference. Obama was born in the United States, and his mother was a US citizen of legal age. McCain was born to two US citizens, but not in the USA.
I wish the birthers would just grow up and deal with reality. Obama is perfectly qualified to be President of the United States. Heck, if you want to take it even farther, why don't they just vote for Koko the Gorilla? She's old enough, was born in San Francisco, and there's nothing in the constitution that says a President has to in fact be human! LOL”
