“it is a big deal because she would have an inside track and undue influence to the U S Senate through Baucus.....which if not illeagle, is certainly not ethical. I work for a major home improvement warehouse who maintains a strict policy of not allowing married couples to work at the same store. Is it fair?..Probably, not but it is a rule set in place for a valid reason. Imagine a managers girlfriend working alongside everybody else in the place. Who do you think is going to get the best positions, perks and raises? Why should we have to abide by such a rule and a highly placed elected official be exempt?”

“Exactly. The article yesterday about Aetna is a good example. They're going to dump 600K subscribers because their "profits aren't as high as they want." If there were a public option, those 600K would be protected, because they'd have an alternate choice that wouldn't deny them coverage the way the private sector would. Then, the profitable subscribers see what the private sector is doing and they LEAVE private insurance to take the public option, bringing their profits to the option, rather than private insurance. Private sector sees this and gets scared, reducing their fees and opening up their market.
