“Just a reminder that before people are anything, they are either close-minded or open-minded and then move on to interpret the world through that lens.
The GOP and especially strategists and Conservative Entertainment have their fingerprints all over this trend.
We all know the Hannity's and Limbaugh's butter their bread with this stuff, but there's plenty of Nixon Atwater (thinking of the "state's rights" audio, but that's just a blip) and Rove at work here too. It was Rove, after all who put fliers on cars in church parking lots about Ann RIchards' "gay agenda" then followed that up by encouraging Ken Mehlman to betray his own "community" (although I'm not sure they've welcomed him, exactly, as a member) as head of the RNC spearheading the use of anti-gay marriage ballot initiatives to drive up the turn-out for W.
They demagogue the Left and spew so much filth about gays specifically it's no wonder we're seeing more of this all the time.”
“AMAZING how many people have taken the time to argue against the video here to what? gloat? spew racism and casually throw around stereotypes?
There are many barriers to getting into college now, and for anyone below a certain economic level, it's impossible. Students must now wait until they're in their early 20's to be eligible for the amount of aid necessary to cover most of the costs to attend my school- one of the most affordable in the state. That change alone would've shut ME out of the system 20+ years ago because, like plenty of lower income kids, I had zero help from my family. Like most boys, by 21-22 they're onto something else, and unlikely to give up the exp they've invested in another job. You don't have to be poor to feel the stress of that gamble.
I could go on. $ is not the only factor of course and there are REAMS of data arguing that economic status largely dictates academic success across the board. Honestly, it's too bad more folks can't just pretend to be a teacher, just for the perspective and to feel that sense of responsibility for "all" of our success not just those with natural gifts and advantages.”

“Thanks for your comment. Yes, I'm stunned by how many comments there are here about how these young men clearly don't deserve to be there, when if they'd bothered to watch the video they would see that one of the factors brought up is the lack of financial aid.”

“One of the most useless "lists" I've ever heard about.
Not defending anyone, and I root against Philly every week, but the general public only know athletes who get in trouble to begin with, so this just sounds like an un-popularity contest based on the most negative news coverage.
As bad as Vick may be perceived by 1000 random people, I doubt 1000 NFL fans would have him so high- especially with players like Suh out there begging for the title.”
“I know Gavins.
Without a trust fund or "investment" from a relative "Gavin" would be dusting his collection of Spawn figures in his mom's basement and complaining about how ridiculously expensive UFC pay-per-view cost, like the rest of the dudes I know who stopped maturing at 14.”

You are correct sir.”

“He also sings in the shower...."I want a girl, just like the girl, that married dear ole' Dad"...vintage 1800s I believe. Some girl hid his balls and is he ever peeved!”
“You handicapped the race well but the atmosphere on the Right will likely lead to another long primary which means a long race to the Right for anyone interested in winning.
I can see Christie surviving it because he's the only viable candidate, but only after another savaging by the Newts, Cruz's and Santorums.
And- you think there's any chance Jeb runs- and what are his chances against a Christie?”

“Jeb BUSH? No one whose name is currently in the table is going to the nominee.”

“People didn't manage. The elderly died in the street. Kids worked in factories, the disabled were relegated to homes and mental wards, and it took revolutions like the one's that happened after books like "The Jungle" came out, when people went crazy about wage slavery and the dangerous state of slaughterhouses both to the workers and consumers, or after Dorothea Dix exposed the abuses happening in private wards and petitioned Congress to create Public Mental Hospitals- the list goes ON.”
“True. OBL's stated objective, pre-9/11, was to provoke the U.S. into wars in the Middle East, so Muslims would be inspired to join the jihad, and the U.S. would lose lives and $$$.
When the GOP is so willing (or excited) to cause so much economic suffering and chaos- the terrorist can just stay home and watch it on cable.”
We've seen some of it already.
Postcards send out from GOP officials with watermelons covering the WH lawn.
Comments from GOP officials that an escaped gorilla from the zoo might be Michelle Obama, oh and birthirism from the start.”
