“Why should the family move? If Mr Aviv was so offended by his neighbours, he should have moved. Fences and privacy hedges won't stop kerosene fumes from drifting over and it sounds as though Mr. Aviv trespassed on the family's property on several occasions. Mr. Aviv should be looking at more jail time and heftier fines for tormenting this family.”

“What does college have to do with abortion? Rachel made valid points. The anti-choice side not only wants to do away with abortion but restrict contraceptives, welfare, adequate healthcare for pregnant women and children, and have consistently fought against maternity leave.”

“So you've taken a survey? Some pro-life persons are opposed, others, as already noted, strongly support measures that would reduce abortions. The world is not the collection of stereotypes that you think it is.”

“Keep deluding yourself that the modern day Republican party has any relationship to the Republican party of the past. Not every Republican is evil but the Republicans you speak of, minus Bush, would be conservative to moderate Democrats today given what they did. Today's Republicans would not have created the the interstate system, has already voted to do away with the CVA and VRA, and have worked hard to move the US back to the segregationist days. Do a bit of research on the Republican Southern Strategy and you may finally understand.”

LFox6 on Feb 16, 2014 at 17:08:46

“The majority of the Republicans today ARE conservative to moderate, non-Tea Party. I say bully for the Tea Party, it's not MY cuppa tea, but this is America, everyone has and is entitled to opinions. That's blatantly untrue, btw, that the GOP 'already voted to do away with the CRA and VRA' - false! As is your statement bout moving the US 'back to segregationist days' - patently UNTRUE. And one reason they MIGHT not go along with an interstate highway system is because we are trillions of dollars in DEBT, we have to stop SPENDING so much. I would also say it's a two way street - the current bunch of Democrats are disgrace, and bear little if anything in common from the Viet Nam era 'liberals'”

“How did Republicans save the world? Wilson was president during WWI and Roosevelt was president during WII. So which Republican president saved the world? Eisenhower would be considered a liberal by today's GOP. Bush II did not do AIDS relief work until AFTER he was out of office. In office, he continued the Reagan policies of banning money that might go to contraceptive and abortion information. LIncoln did not want to get involved in the slavery debate and gave into pressure to free the slaves. Because of this as well as the loss of the Civil War, many white Southerns turned to the Democratic Party while newly-freed slaves turned to the Republican party. That all changed in 1964 with the Civil RIghts Acts and Voters' Rights Act. The Republican party launched their Southern Strategy, luring angry whites to their party thus flip flopping the dynamics of the parties.”

“Roosevelt hid his head for the LONGEST time during WWII to the plight of the European Jews and Wilson was he of the Iron Jawed Angels infamy lol - both Demorats. Eisenhower was a Republican, and his and Marshall's sheer military genius DID save the world - from Hitler. Bush's PEPFAR program was run by him DURING his presidency 2003-2008. You can cast aspersions on Lincoln allyou want to but he was a republican and he DID free the slaves. He cared MOST about the Union and preserving it, thank GOD - McClellan by any stretch of the imagination would be considered a bona fide 'progressive' in any age - and he would have allowed the Union to be destroyed. Nice that you bring up the CRA and the VRA - AGAIN, it was the GOP caucus that fought FOR those rights, and the DEMOCRATS who fought against them.”

“I don't even know where to begin with post. The Republican party pre-1964 was a vastly different party than the GOP/Tea Party/Evangelical Party of today. Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and Dwight Eisenhower would be consider liberal lefties by today's GOP. I DO want to clear up one massive mistake you made: Nixon did not end the Cold War in any way, shape, or form. He opened relations with China.”

“Lincoln Speech: I have said, very many times…that no man believed more than I in the principle of self-government; that it lies at the bottom of all my ideas of just government, from beginning to end.… I deny that any man has ever gone ahead of me in his devotion to the principle, whatever he may have done in efficiency in advocating it. I think that I have said it in your hearing that I believe each individual is naturally entitled to do as he pleases with himself and the fruit of his labor, so far as it in no wise interferes with any other man’s rights—that each community, as a State, has a right to do exactly as it pleases with all the concerns within that State that interfere with the rights of no other State, and that the general government, upon principle, has no right to interfere with anything other than that general class of things that does concern the whole. I have said that at all times.”

“What kind of "voice" do you want to give to a non-viable, parasitic clump of human cells? You would sacrifice a living, breathing woman for a potential human life that, in most abortions, cannot perceive pain nor survive without the mother's body.”

Hans Bickel on Feb 15, 2014 at 21:07:44

“Why such low esteem for children in the womb? By your own reckoning, you were once "a non-viable, parasitic clump of human cells," does that mean you should have been aborted? Irregardless, you are not even right in your portrayal of pregnancy:

"By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception." Dr. H. Gordon, Chairman, Department of Genetics, the Mayo Clinic. In civilized societies, for reasons other than self-defense, the killing of human life is called murder or sometimes imposition of the death penalty.

The number of abortions that occur to save the life of the mother is a minute fraction of total abortions and most people are not opposed to them. It is the abortions for convenience or image that disgust the humane sector of society.

Furthermore, recent professional studies have found that babies in the womb feel acute pain much earlier than previously thought.”

BTW, what have you done to help the thousands of children waiting for permanent homes? Or the ones who don't know where their next meal will come from? The homeless ones? The ones born with fetal alcohol syndrome, drugs in their systems, or profound birth defects that will required millions of dollars of care over their lifetimes? It's easy to sit back and scream about all the aborted "babies" when you don't have to be responsible for them once they're born.”

Clinton's affair affected Hillary, Chelsea, and Monica not millions of women using birth control which is what the GOP/Tea Party wants to do.”

“Malpractice hasn't been proven in this case and the family has now assumed any responsibility for their daughter. The hospital won't be paying until malpractice has been proven. Once insurance has been exhausted, if it hasn't been already, it will be public funds that would be better spent on people who have an actual chance at recovery.”

Keif26 on Jan 6, 2014 at 12:43:24

“When a child bleeds so profusely after surgery her heart stops, it is prudent to assume that since she was in the care of the hospital, the insurance company and lawyers are already working on a settlement proposal. It would be unwise for the hospital to send her parents a bill if they hope to keep the case out of court, knowing what their chances with a jury night be. While Mom grieves you can bet plans and negotiations are already being discussed.”
