“No, you're not the only person who is happy the bill passed. I am pleased as well. While I think it could be improved, and hopefully will be improved over time, this is a positive step in the right direction. I believe that the real reason this bill may not reflect all that many on this site would like it to has less to do with the failure of Democrats to give progressives everything they want and more to do with how difficult it has become to get anything done with the current way that congress and the senate are forced to try and accomplish things. What we really need is an overall of the rules of the senate. But yes, I am happy it passed.”

“The more insane this story becomes, the more politicians bicker and fight and can't get anything done, the more I wonder what the rest of the industrialized world must see when they watch this. I can't help but think like we look like a bunch of Keystone Cops. It has become the theater of the absurd.”

“If a medical service is legal in this country and normally covered by insurance, it should not be limited by the health care bill. That's it. Where the hell do you draw the line? That's basically making everyone in the entire country weigh in on whether a procedure, any procedure, should be paid for. We have enough problems getting health care paid for. If it's a covered procedure, leave it the hell alone. I am so sick of all this, I feel like I'm going to explode.”

Wall Street Journal/NBC News Poll: Voters Torn Between Democrats, Republicans in 2010

Commented Dec 17, 2009 at 12:32:10 in Politics

“This is frustrating because I firmly believe that the Democrats are the party that truly cares about what happens to the average American. They are also the party that can't ever seem to get its act together and stand unified in order to accomplish the good things they aim to accomplish. Basically, as has always been the case, Republicans need do nothing more than stand aside and wait for the Democrats to self-destruct. It's happened throughout history, and it's going to happen again, I'm afraid. It's not that the Republicans have any good ideas, it's that the Democrats can't get airborne with any of theirs and they spend all their time bickering and hedging until the American people get sick of them. And in rolls the Republicans again. I can see the handwriting on the wall. Why can't Democrats in Congress and the Senate? It's so frustrating.”

rollingdivision replied on Dec 17, 2009 at 14:46:53

“There is nothing special about Democrat politicians they every bit as greedy, power hungry and corrupt as Republicans. The trick is to give government the least power necessary to governor and to never trust politicians.”

How can this man stand it? I don't think I've got the stuff that he has. It's absolutely heroic, that he endures it, and should inspire others with terrible conditions.”

“If health care reform dies, I'm checking out of the political process. I'm sick and tired of working to get things changed, donating money for nothing, and being disappointed over and over again by what doesn't ever change. I am so tired of it all. Following these stories just makes my blood pressure shoot through the roof, and since we're not going to get any kind of health care reform any time soon, I can't afford that anymore. I hope sometime before my kids grow old, this stupid country wises up. I don't think it's going to happen in my lifetime.”

“You know, this is the final straw for me. I did not vote for Joe Lieberman or anyone of his ilk. I voted for change, finally, that this country desperately needs, and instead we end up with what is looking more and more like no health care reform at all. It's not going to be any better. It may even be worse. But it won't be what I voted for. Maybe no time at all should have been wasted on health care reform because at the end of the day, they've basically wasted all the time that's been spent. They've got nothing. It seems that the conservatives are in power regardless of whether the numbers say otherwise. They always win, no matter what. They're winning again. And I no longer think it really matters who I vote for or what I want to happen, even though I know my beliefs are those of the majority of people in this country. What the hell is the point? I'm done. I may not ever cast another vote for anyone again. This is a major, major disappointment. And it stinks!!!! And health care is just one issue. The same thing will happen over and over again on every other issue that arises, climate change, financial reform. It doesn't matter. I'm sick to death of all the dickering and bickering and accomplishing nothing. I've had it.”

“This is really unbelievable. Because of political ideology and a stubborn refusal to accept anything the Obama administration does, people who are working hard trying to make ends meet, and sometimes sinking under the load, are the victims of politicians who care not a whit about their constituencies, but only about rejecting anything they deem coming from Obama. These politicians should try living without the money and things they need to survive and see how well it works for them. It makes me sick.”

Don't forget, because of political ideology and a stubborn refusal to accept anything the Clinton administration did, Bush/Cheney ignored the intelligence reports and the warnings that might have prevented 9/11.

Repubs have no interest in the country, only in soldifiying their power and using scare tactics to keep the serfs under their thumbs.”
