“Women also need to fight more. Elementary teachers are 90% female. Any teacher in the nation knows that when it comes to union issues, the elementary teachers are the first to say "Okay. That sounds fair. A 1% raise is good enough. Let's all go back to work." High school teachers are the toughest negotiators, and middle school teachers are somewhere in the, well, middle. If this is any indication of the way things are across the nation, then, well, women need to learn to go to combat with their bosses more than they do. The need to threaten their bosses more. Follow through on that threat. They need to get lawyers and form unions and go to the press and demonstrate and stop being so peaceful. Fight.”
“It's not a fair price. The products on the shelves at Walmart were made by Chinese and Indian children. Child labor is slave labor. The only reason that slave labor exists is because people like you blind yourself to the reality of the situation and purchase products sold by the enslavers of children.”
“Sending all your money to China and to the richest family in American history just makes me wanna vomit. There ARE alternatives. Tariff China, for example. Drive prices on imports up. This would encourage Americans to start their own, American-made alternative to overpriced imports. Unemployment would vanish in the demand for American labor. This, in turn, would drive wages up, since there would then be a scarcity of American labor. This, in turn, would put more money in the pockets of Americans, who would then be demanding more product: American-made product most likely. Meanwhile, the Chinese, who would be paying the tariff at the ports, would be a tax-free source of revenue for the nation as a whole: the deficit would come down. In addition, we could return to America the thing that made it great: the graduated income tax with a top tax rate on all dollars over 1 million or so at 92%, which is where it was, on average, from 1942-1960. We need, also, to make the estate tax 100% on all dollars over 1 million. Spoiled brats are not entitled to Daddy's money. They didn't create it. The workers did. That money belongs, by rights, to the people of the United States. It should be re-distributed to us all through a Guaranteed Minimum Income. Thomas Paine thought so too. It's his idea.”
“They'd all be hired by the new 'expansion' team. Get it? It's like what corporations do whenever they get sued: The dissolve themselves, and re-incarnate as a new corporation, several times, if need be. Simply ignore them to death. Don't do anything that Sterling can sue them for, just ignore them, and expand. The new team would bear a striking similarity to the Clippers in everything but ownership. Hire back EVERYONE.”
“Why? Why in a world with reliable birth control to people deliberately DO that? It only gets worse from there. Seriously. It's something I just don't understand. Please tell me why people make babies...ON PURPOSE.”
mcmarauder805 on May 12, 2014 at 07:15:41
“With all help that is out there why do you deliberately not get some of the mental health treatment that you so obviously need?”

“I don't really get it either. There are so many unwanted ones already.”
“The NBA should simply schedule NO GAMES against the CLIPPERS. That would do it. Pay the salaries of all the players on the Clippers out of the emergency fund and then announce that the NBA would be having an EXPANSION TEAM, named, let's say, the SHIPPERS or the FLIPPERS or the BAJIBBERS. WHO CARES? Then, hire all the very same players on THAT team and give ownership to someone they trust. Someone BLACK, obviously.”
Cornelius G on May 12, 2014 at 00:48:26
“So, how many people within the Clipper organization don't you care about now that you propose to place them immediately out of business? Not t mention surrounding businesses that rely on their games. There's a whole lot of blacks in both categories.”
“1. "Nothing yet more succesful than capitalism when fairly regulated."
1.A: Obviously, you've never been to Europe.
2."The Founders/Framers were fearful of an overriding cental gov't."
2A: Which ones? Alexander Hamilton, for example, advocated a true national government without any states at all. James Madison, and his famous "Virginia Plan" agreed. (He later changed his mind). So, what is your evidence for this absolutist statement? It's okay. I'll provide the evidence that you need: The Anti-Federalists, for the most part Southerners, who were eager to protect slavery, demanded and recieved 4 astonishing concessions before they signed the Constitution, all designed to make the white Southerners more powerful than they had any right to be.
3. "The Constitution is designed to prevent that and protect individual liberties."
3A: Okay, I'll concede that the existence of the Senate is anti-national power, and guarantees state control. This is different, however, from "individual" protections. Most right-wingers today would vote against a proposed 4th amendment or a 5th amendment and, in fact, most of the Bill or Rights. Except, of course, for the 2nd amendment.
4. "Unfortunately Leftists/progressives work to defeat that protection in their narcissistic quest for control over people." Government is control over people. Right wingers are not anarchists. They want strict control, starting, oddly, with sex and reproduction rights. Right wingers are authoritarians by their basic personality. They are the first to use violence and the last to accept differences in people.”
“No. He's a PRIVATIZER, that's not public control. That's "FREEDOM" run amok. You've got him wrong. He's more like HITLER or MUSSOLINI or BUSH or REAGAN or ARNE DUNCAN or MICHELLE RHEE, OR CHENEY or ANDREW JACKSON, or JEFFERSON DAVIS. They all hated federal - national -- power. Basically, they object to the concept of the "UNITED states of America." They are anti-federalist fascist oligarchs.”

“Nothing yet more succesful than capitalism when fairly regulated. The Founders/Framers were fearful of an overriding cental gov't. The Constitution is designed to prevent that and protect individual liberties. Unfortunately Leftists/progressives work to defeat that protection in their narcissistic quest for control over people. Then there's the 17th amendment which weaken the states. Some states are now apportioning electoral votes making its original role meaningless. SCOTUS is becoming a Soviet style politburo with the States or even Congress having no way to override bad decisions. Congress itself has become a career move for many who serve only themselves and for far too long.”
“He is out to destroy public education and give it to PRIVATE CORPORATIONS. That's what this whole "Charter school" thing is: it's basically giving a businessman all the money -- and responsibility -- and saying "Here ya go! YOU do it. But if you fail, then it's gonna be YOUR fault, and not mine. I can't handle the responsibility of my office. Here. YOU do it. Take whatever profit you want. Cut as many teachers as you feel like. I don't care. I quit." THATS what "Privatization of schools" really is.
“People that go out of their way to kill animals are sick individuals. They do it for the fun of it. They like playing god and killing another living being. They like it, pure and simple. Hunting should be illegal, and treated as a murder case.”

“I am a hunter and I go FAR out of my way to hunt. I love it and am teaching my kids how to hunt. Try and take that from me... LOL
KaKaaw on May 9, 2014 at 13:17:12
“are you kidding me... animals who are shot in the wild live a much better life than those that are slaughtered in factories. You couldn't be more off. If your argument is hunting should be illegal you may as well say meat should be illegal.”
michaelturn on May 8, 2014 at 17:25:39
“Does that include Native Americans or First Peoples (in Canada) who hunt because it is part of their cultural tradition ? Something they have been doing for hundreds of years.”
Noah Thomas on May 7, 2014 at 12:33:25
“I think the problem with most people that are anti-hunting is that they are too scientifically illiterate. When I hear from a lot of these people, it seems like they've never taken an ecology course in their lives. What is it about people that makes emotion control their decisions instead of rational thought?”

“Nice. Let's set up one more tax bracket: Every dollar over 1 million gets taxed at 100%. Sound good? Oh, also this: 100% on everything when you're dead. Period. Everything to the government, and, through them, back to the people who made you rich in the first place, you selfish dead guy, you. Quit'cher cryin'. Yer dead. You can't take it with you. Zip it.”
Frog in a pot on May 5, 2014 at 18:04:33
Under Eisenhower the top rate was 90%
Kennedy it was 76% ie the peace dividend.
Reagan broght it down to 50%
Today its 35% the LOWEST since Eisenhower and thats on WAGES and before deductions….and we had 2 wars that were off the books and unpaid.Republicans took a taxcut for the first time in recorded human history during a time of WAR.
I dont mind people being rich But they should help create opportunity for the next generation in thanks to the government that allowed the accumulation of such wealth.
And there should be a large inheritance tax so we arent creating the very Olygarchies the founders fought against.”
“Yep. French Revolution. Think on THAT for a while. Next time you're in Paris, go to the Place de la Concorde. Look across the river to the capital building. Think about what kind of view they have. Their view is -- the building is aimed right at it -- of the place where the 1% were trundled up to the guillotine, and the "National razor". Thousands were murdered in this way, at this place. Everyone knows it. It's the thing that France is most famous for, really. Don't you think that the politicians are reminded about that very bloody reality every time they go outside for a smoke break? I bet they do. They should, if they don't. In France, the politicians are afraid of the people. Here, the people are afraid of the politicians.”
