“The problem is that this is an American issue! A real issue for our citizens regardless of politcal affiliation! In case you haven't noticed, whether dem or gop the problem has worsened. We need to vote based on issues not party ideologies. If party ideologies were the answer, we would not be in this position.”

“You may very well be the exception! A simple computation of costs vs pay backs Mrs. Warren as the "rule." I for one can attest to going in debt to merely keep up with the cost of living! $300.00 monthly for baby formula, $1600.00 monthly for childcare at a daycare, 1500.00 monthly for health insurance. ..this is absent the cost of a household. We have seen a grocery cost increase of 14%, a utility increase of over 50% in two years, county taxes increase, everything has increased except for our pay.
As to the whine aspects, I find that offensive. I know people who lost their jobs and actively sought work for two years in some cases. These were highly qualified folks with an abundance of experience. A few of them lost everything including their homes. They did absolutely nothing wrong nor did they live beyond their means. So it is very possible to do all the right things and end up in debt. As to your challenge, good luck I wish you well and if you plan on furthering your education, well that too has increased! And the cost of those books...th at will surely offset your plans to pay off that mortgage early. May even drive you take take out a mortgage.. .oh yeah, banks are not lending... sorry.”

“Thanks Joe. I agree 100%. Yes, Jefferson and Adams had their rows. Without those rows we would not have experienced the birth of the Democratic Party. Without them, Jefferson most likely would not have sought the office of the President to undo what he considered bad government. The rows are written on the pages of history just as these will one day.
I believe that if the two major parties continue to fight and bicker at the expense of the people, one will eventually fall by the wayside. We see the change now with more and more people registered as Independents. It is our history, it is our future, it is the change we seek.”

“I part ways with the notion that Grayson, or anyone for that manner, can't use the word "holocaust" . While most associate the word with the plight of the Jews, the word itself is not owned nor by definition confined to the Jews.
I find his choice of the word, appropriate by definition. According to my dictionary which is the "Standard Dictionary International Edition" Holocaust is defined as "wholesale destruction of loss of life by fire, war etc. " The word was used in the context of that definition where healthcare is concerned.
Let us not be distracted!”

Thank you again. It is always refreshing to read a post that adds to the depth of clarity to emphasize truths.”

“Trickle down didn't work and won't work because of greed! As to "cries of "socialism"" they are being drowned out by the cries of slavery, the slavery that we passed on to our children to pay the debts left by these very execs. I keep singing the song, "Man got me working... "”
OmarSpence replied on Sep 23, 2009 at 11:10:58
“In light of all of this greed, a bit of socialism doesn't seem to be such a bad idea. The ever widening gap between the wealthy and the ordinary people has grown to a point where economies cant function anymore. The wealthy get rich from selling things to the working class with no return of any of that wealth to the working class who eventually become too broke to buy anything, business suffers because they cant sell anything so workers loose their jobs and the entire system eventually stalls. A trickle cannot maintain a torrent for very long. A more equitable distribution of wealth would allow a return of wealth to the working class allowing the cycle to continue. And while straight up socialism isn't good for business either, this cycle requires a much more balanced flow to continue.I t is the lack of appreciation for this cycle that is the main flaw of capitalism as it is now.
Capitalism in its current form treats wealth as a linear rather than cyclic, as it is geared towards pure greed rather than straight up business. This is why we need regulation in order to keep things balanced.”

“Lou can go too far with a story, but at least he brings the controversial topics to the table. Yes he can be cynical at times, but I take that to be from his absolute amazement at what is going on in the world. He doesn't bury his head in the sand and wait for issues to disappear. Clearly he is a man of great passion for this country and strong convictions that tend to offend others. Lou is one of the few out there who has defended the middleclass without condition. He was bringing us the mortgage crisis story before it was a story, Lou was shaking the Obama truth tree at a time when speaking the truth of our President was not a popular thing to do. So, I do not agree that he hides behind the first amendment, I believe he lives by it. And yes, there are times when I don't want to hear the negativity generated by the truth and on those days I press that little power button.”

“While the banks had their run and to a large degree still are, utility companies are a close second. Our electric company has gone up almost 50% over the last two years and our state just allowed them an additional base line increase of 4%. That totals 26% increase this year alone. Water is much the same and so is a trip to the grocery store. Our insurance copays doubled this year. Our Auto tags went up 65% this year. Just yesterday we were informed that the hubby will be eligible for a 2% max increase next year and there will be no bonuses! I have been out of work for two years and have watched what little we did not lose in the market be sucked up by these greedy arses! No pay increase or bonus this year for us yet these companies continually increase cost as if we are not hurting enough. From the moment the markets crashed and layoffs ensued, there should have been measures put in place to prevent the all out rape of our purses. Enough is enough!”

You can thank Ronald Reagan for letting the corporations into our government at every level. It requires our participation as informed citizens. We can grip and complain day in day out or we can take our discontentment to the polls. Rest assured, eventually, they will come to understand all the money the lobbyist has to offer can't buy their seat!”

“Absolutely! For two years Docs thought I had a thyroid problem! All symptoms confirmed it too. Turns out, it was an insulin problem and the thyroid was a symptom not the cause! Thankfully, I had declined the thyroid meds opting for the natural fix! Oh, it was my veggie lifestyle that caused the insulin problem. That's right, I was not taking in enough fat so my body went into a metabolic syndrome state. So I 100% attest to what the body can do when out of balance! Balanced diet and exercise are key...but know what is balanced for one is not balanced for the other. I am glad that Docs are actually thinking outside the box!”

“Initially Obama said that we "should have the same coverage as our representatives". I like that idea! That was also brought up during the Arlen Specter town hall today! We should all stand up and demand that whatever policy comes out of Washington, should be used by Washington. As my grandma always said, "What is good for the goose is good for the gander".
We should set an example that our reps can no longer vote themselves better insurance and pension plans than we can obtain! The days of their fleecing our pockets to live the life of luxury and comfort is over. They should only prosper when the nation prospers. Just like the calls that CEO's should be paid by performance, so should our reps.”

“Just got an invoice from my doc. Between what insurance pays him and our copay he aint doing to bad for spending a sum total of 10 minutes with me per appointment. Averages $10.00 per minute.
We are fortunate to have insurance, but trust me it is not on the cheap!!! Not only do our premiums increase yearly but, so do our out of pocket. We have discussed cancelling it, but it would take one serious illness to wipe us out.
I have not read a lot about the cost increases of dental coverage. Those fees have increased to point of even with insurance it is not affordable.
People need dental and eye coverage as well!”

“My docs office opens at 8. He is the sole practioner and I have an 8:15 appointment. I arrive at 8:10 to find that there are five people ahead of me and three pharm reps sitting in the lobby. One hour later I am still waiting to see the doc.
I have been seeing this doc for two years while gaining a total of 60lbs. The doc thought I had a thyroid issue and every three months ran the same test, turns out, after two years and 60lbs, I have an insuline problem! This was found after I refused to have the same tests that give the same results and none of which were helping me! Thankfully, I had declined the thyroid meds even though I was given a sample courtesy of those pharm reps.
My point, is that docs treat the symptom not the problem. And yes, I gone the nutritionist route, gym route and personal trainer route during the course of these two years! Docs want to throw a bandaide over the wound and expect it to heal so they can move onto the next patient. Much like our congress wants to put a big bandaide on healthcare. What in this new legislation is going to change the above situation? Nothing.”
