John McCain Could Lose Senate Primary To Tea Party Supporter

“Never happen. He'll drop out for "his family" or to "smell the roses" or some other bs as soon as reliable polling data show his loss a statistical certainty. Can you imagine Johnny's family pondering the thought of more time with him? Oh mama ...”
Obama One Year Later: The Audacity of Winning vs. The Timidity of Governing

“I respectfully disagree, and I do so on the grounds that by not upholding the rule of law regarding obvious war crimes committed in our names, and taking a "look forward, not back" mindset (or excuse) to the rule of law, you have fostered the notion that we are indeed a nation of men and not laws.
That is indeed power without principle”

“John Turley nailed it early on: Power without Principle. That's truly what we have in Washington”

“I think it's the opposite: what we have in the WH is principle, principle that is very smartly (and without much noise) creating the means to have the power to really change things.”
Why Keep Geithner?

“You ask an important question, but you have the wrong man. Mr Geithner is no longer at the wheel of some quasi-secret NY banking consortium, he's Secretary of the Treasury of the US.
He answers and briefs with Mr. Obama. That's the man whose name should be in your question”

“Everyone is hung up on the political machinations and not enough on the details, or lack thereof, in the plan(s).
If the no one can give me a cogent answer on how we deal with the costs, then it's deja-vu all over again -- It's TARP part two. All the "trimming of the waste" and "cutting costs" is fine, but what is it that's cut and how much does each item save and how did you reach those numbers?
I've heard a few obvious ones tossed around (which leads you to the obvious question of why they aren't being cut NOW), but not enough for the high percentage of the total _estimated_ cost of this thing, and that's not including the public option.
The administration needs to get serious about this, and yesterday. No more biblical references and platitudes and rosy skies and belts and suspenders, just the facts”

I relocated 25+ years ago to L.A. from the east coast; one of the two I'm alluding to relocated also, and the other was never a close friend, just an acquaintance of circumstance. We hooked up over the net. We were friends long before any of us cared about politics one way or another; we were young, dumb and full of ... anyway, two out of three conservative -- I'm the lone liberal”

“One of these days, people -- like Palin's handlers -- are going to wake up to the fact that Reagan has been exposed as one of the worst presidents in our history, and that this meme stating otherwise only plays within the lowly 25% voting block (far to the right) that floats around the GOP like monkey stink. I'd bet that easily half of these people couldn't care less, don't know, and don't want to know from Reagan.
Any true admirer of Reagan (knows anything of the man, in that twisted GOP sense of idolization) is either dead, irrelevant, or not in Palin's corner. What she hopes to accomplish by parroting Snewt and the legacy of Ronnie is beyond most thinking people”
