Not blaming you personally "StillIRise" ....... but I'm about exhasted with having Obama's campaign statements regarding the Afghan war pointed out to me.

I campaigned and contributed to the limits of my ability for this President, thrilled to his soaring rhetoric, and cried along with everyone else on inauguration day.

Fact is, I did all that in SPITE of his alarming statements on the war...certainly not because of them.

A policy that is wrong, remains wrong...maybe more so....campaign rhetoric notwithstanding.

I still support the President in general even though I believe he has betrayed a fair number of commitments he made as a candidate.

If the President wants to invest Billions in a noble experiment in nation-building...I submit that Afghanistan should rank at least 51st on the list....after places with names like Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and California, and....well clearly I could go on.

War and peace...life and death are of an entirely different order than this or that fiscal, or social policy.

The same principles that cause me to support the President ...cause me to rise now and say "NO!"

(I think you..and every American....PARTICULARLY those of us who supported Obama's candidacy should too!)

I bought the conventional wisdom at the time.......but....while I guess we'll never know for sure.......over time ...it has come to appear that you are right about Anita Hill.

Specter said at the time that the allegations against Thomas came ...in his words...

Maybe the right thing to do when that happens is throw them back.
This point was driven home by Kenneth Starr et. al. just a few years later.

While none of this makes Thomas a stellar Jusice (or the wounded victim he plainly still views himself as)........it should never have been a part of the comfirmation process.....at least to the sensational extent that it was.

“Not much....since we've incurred those since St. Ronald Reagan took office usually for massive military spending and to finance tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and for ill advised Military adventures like Iraq.

It passes all belief how many "deficit hawks" crawl out of thewoodwork at the mere MENTION of government expenditures that might actually improve the lives of ordinary working Americans for a change.

A giveaway to a corporation (particularly defense contractors) is a "targeted tax incentive"

A jobs or health expenditure to benifit PEOPLE?
Why, that's a "dangerouly socalistic welfare program"

Care to guess which one is more likely to be riddled with the infamous "waste, fraud, and abuse"?

I have more patience with those on the right who state forthrightly that they hate entitlements because they don't like the people who recieve them.
