“I want to hear more about the date with the "Hill-Billy" and why he had to leave before dessert.
I am a wife who recently moved out of the marital home taking my stuff (which was most of the stuff in the house) with me. My soon-to-be-ex is not happy about being cast adrift but he sure didn't step up and provide any of the companionship and partnership that a viable marriage depends on, so that's what happens. No one could force me to stay with him and there were so many negatives and no positives left in our "relationship" I had to go. Or should I have wasted the remainder of my life making him meals and being aggravated by his couch-slug impressions for the rest of my life? Don't think so.
Husbands, look around and see if you can be a helpmate to your wife before she decides your ass is nothing but a burden. That's my advice for staying out of Divorced Dad Motel.”

“I would say from all I've read about/from her that she's against the crappy bill. However, the bill is crappy because it does not provide the public option. It DOES correct some bad practices from the insurance industry, but if it went far enough to do that, then the rich fat cats would not be rushing to invest in the Insurance industry. But that has to be because of the mandate, which is going to end up being impossible to enforce with all the provisions allowing that it doesn't have to be followed -- religious objections, not being able to afford it, etc., etc.,”

“One year has been quite enough time to see that President Obama is a far cry from Candidate Obama. In one year we have seen Obama surround himself with Washington insiders and financial industry insiders. That in itself is very discouraging! What do you see him doing in Year Two that progressives and liberals can get behind? Sending more troops to Afganistan? Bailing out other failing industries while the middle class continues to go broke? OK, this year was better than any year of Bush&Co. but that's a pretty low bar, about as low as you can go. I think we expected a bit more from Obama than surpassing Bush.”

“Who were YOU listening to in the campaign? It obviously was NOT Sen. Barack Obama! The guy from Ilinois. THAT guy. The man I listened to ALWAYS said that he would what needed to be done. I trusted that he would do that, and he has. I have no complaints. The economy has turned around form clear disaster, We can b8*%h about the methods, but he did what he beleived he needed to do. And it worked. Obmaa always said that Afghanistan would be his focus, so WHY are you all so shocked that he would send troops there in the short run? I am not surprised and in fact, agree that, out of a BAD lot of choices, this was probably the best one. He said what he would do, and did it. No complaints here. Gitmo is tough, but last I heard, he was either sending people to their home countries or finding places in prisons here for others. I cannot think of another way for him to eventually close down Gitmo. Again, I have no complaints. Do I wish that Dems in Congress were more supportive and that the Reps would be more cooperative? Yes, but looking towards Obama's so-called supporters, like many here, I can really complain much about them, either. Their wimp-out attitudes are the same as YOURS. The only one that I can see who is standing strong and resolute, is the president himself. Shame on all of you.”

“There will be subsidies and people will have to buy ins. or pay a fine. But the amount that these fat-cats think middle-class and poor people can *afford* as a new monthly payment added to their already-stretched budgets is a joke. Most people these days cannot afford the rising monthly bills they have already. Now they're supposed to-- make that, forced to-- pay hundreds of dollars a month more for private health ins. which may or MAY NOT actually cover them if they get sick....? What a travesty. And the regulations on the private insurers are only that they have to take everybody, regardless of health condition, but no cap on what they can charge for premiums. I think I see where that's going.... through the roof!
Reform my ass.”

“You kill it, you bury it. Everytime healthcare reform has been introduced and trounced in government, it takes a long time to return and it returns in a weaker form. Kill this bill now, and I guarantee, the GOP will tangle up the legislative agenda with so much cr*p (and there IS a lot to be done) for the next three years, it will never see the light of day. They will also point to the stances of Dean and Nader and play that divisiveness to the masses. The result? President Palin and you're stuck. And healthcare won't raise its head again. The European systems are hanging on by their fingernails and running at losses, enduring all sorts of service cuts rather than sell out to private entities, but that day is coming - which means it won't return in the States.
Nader and Dean both have huge egos and axes to grind, and both are multi-millionaires. Killing this healthcare bill now wouldn't affect them in the least. They're covered, and probably by cadillac plans. Don't forget, Dean' s fortune comes from medicine as well. Just like Bill Frist.

“Beautiful portrait of your father. It is terribly sad when a person is slowly robbed of their mind before your eyes. My mom went through the same progression you describe with Alzheimers. I am glad that I was with her when she took her last breath. I don't know if she realized that we were there, her husband and children at her side, holding her hands, at her home. The hospice people said she could hear us but I don't know. She couldn't swallow and we withheld even water on the directions of the hospice people, so I knew that she would die within 3 days. It was an amazing thing to see someone's last breath. It was so intimate and strange. By then, she had suffered enough...
There were times when all this was just getting noticeable to others when she would say to her husband, "There is really something very wrong with me, isn't there?" I am crying, thinking about the confusion and worry in that sentence.. ..”

Rupert Everett's Advice To Gay Actors: Stay In The Closet
Commented Dec 02, 2009 at 17:27:06 in Entertainment
“Whether it makes sense or not, the female audience for a leading man/movie star wants to be able to fantasize about that man and herself, NOT that man and another man. So that's life. Don't ask don't tell if you want the larger fan base. Dougie Howser is pulling it off somehow so it's not impossible, just rare. Oh, and also? Straight actors who play gay roles probably pay a price for that in terms of suspicion following them around.”

While I do agree gays are discriminated against every day in this country, I think actors are simply the victims of EXTREMELY cautious producers who constantly try to recreate prior success and thus cast actors in the same role over and over again.”

I follow the articles about the trafficking of women and girls all over the world and right here at home, and I wonder, when are men going to stop telling each other that it's ok, even manly, to pay for sex when the "provider" may be someone powerless who's been coerced, drugged, beaten into submission.
