“I have and I admire Twain and Roosevelt.
Without either one this country would be far worse off today.
People were up in arms about Twain's use of slang towards slaves in his works and got banned by many.
However, I don't recall Twain being in the Military, having the lives of regimens under his watch and more.
I love Twain, but even he goes through fits where his own satire is too much to swallow.”

We can go back throughout all of Human History and cast the broad stroke of inhumanity, ignorance and more because we have the luxury of coming after our forebears.”

“People are so ignorant of the balance of War & Peace.
Professor Nobel:
``Alfred Bernhard Nobel (help·info) (Stockholm, Sweden, 21 October 1833 – Sanremo, Italy, 10 December 1896) was a Swedish chemist, engineer, innovator, armaments manufacturer and the inventor of dynamite. He owned Bofors, a major armaments manufacturer, which he had redirected from its previous role as an iron and steel mill. Nobel held 355 different patents, dynamite being the most famous. In his last will, he used his enormous fortune to institute the Nobel Prizes. The synthetic element nobelium was named after him.''
Clearly, the man was a Pacifist.”

Stop quoting Jefferson or any other Founder, out of context. Jefferson's fears centered around Monarchical government rule. He wanted a more modular system that had their own checks and balances within each module, all under the great US Constitution umbrella.
He wanted every US Citizen educated, healthy and a chance to prosper. He was opposed to conglomerates, monopolies and any other business construct that tuned the Merchant class into a round table of Kings.”

“Very true. We have Oligopolies running the nation in all industries. Real Capitalism would require dozens of players in all the spaces as a minimum in order to be in that product/service space you want to capitalize on.
Capitalism means instead of Conglomerate Banks you have a unified banking standard and tens of thousands of Banks adhering to said standard or their asses are out of the Game.
The same for all industries. You don't have 95% of the IT Industry being strong armed by Microsoft before it gets slapped on the wrist with a pissant $250K from George W. Bush's DoJ for being found guilty of a Monopoly.
You don't let Wells Fargo, AIG, Farmers, GEICO, Travelers, BofA, US Bank, UBS, etc., be too big to fail.
You don't let conglomeration buy out the Cattle and Agriculture Industries, lobby the crap out of D.C. and allow toxins injected via Food Science to then turn our source of sustainment into a disease ridden global sewer with the PharmaCons to come in and keep us doped to counter such crap while creating more diseases in the process.”

“Free Market Capitalism extols the virtues of competition, not oligopolistic greed.
The US is not an actual Free Market Capitalist System. It's a collection of Oligopolies.
When 93% of the Health Insurance Industry is controlled by 4 players, we are living under an Oligopoly.
True Competition would demand dozens of players with checks and balances, under the same standards.”

“True. So in the interest of the 'competition" that Capitalists always talk about, let's do this: abolish the Ant-trust Exemption for insurance companies. And let's outsource. Let India, China, whoever off health insurance plans as long as they have the reserves and follow regulations. Let's make Insurers follow the regulations in the first place, with big penalties for transgressions. Let's force insurers to divulge their compensation formula. How did they decide to pay such pitiful amounts to your Doctor, etc? They don't have to say!
The other Big Secret is that many big corporations got sick of the scam long ago so they Self-Insur e...set up their own "insurance" with money in the bank but also fewer regulations (no AIDS coverage) Yup, it's legal.
The greed, the con, the beurocracy makes the energy of healing too easily turn bitter and jaded. This is the most profound loss in American medicine, the loss of innocence of providers. Marcus Wellby, no more. Sad.”

Brought down interest ratesfor buying a house from Carter's 17%. Ended the cold war.
Ended the iie that we were told that the world was out of oil. Raised the stock market from 500 into the thousands.
Pretty damnded good for a B movie actor. And if congress (who sets the budget) would not have added all of their earmarks he would not even have left a deficit
Plus when Reagan used the bully pulpit to speak to the people they listened. Made congress mad. Perhaps that is why they added so much spending to the budget just to embarass Reagan.”

The Food Industry needs to be completely overhauled. Food Science is a disaster with it's main focus being preservation research on goods that biologically should not be stored for the time durations we need of them.
Much of the US Health results comes from lack standards and testing of food processing and what can or cannot be included in products for our consumption.
The bulk of Dr. Weil's concern will be managed from this alone.”

He's putting the burden of investment for future "integrated methodologies" that are far from scientific law [hence predictable outcomes with predictable inputs] on the backs of people he leverages through herbs, just like Big Pharma.
He's not solving the diseases he's just using the natural herbs to medicate the ailments with the promise of a less adverse outcome.
Without controlling the cost of the entire Industry, his chance of seeing investment to find solutions will continue to dwindle.”

“Free speech doesn't support the promotion of fear.
There are bounds, clearly defined in the US Constitution about the use of fear and promotion of Violence through Speech that is not protected.
I yell fire in a crowded theater and through that falsehood promote fear and resulting violence to fight through the mob who is created by panic when everyone is running out of a theater; and if they think that's protected then they are sorely mistaken.
Promoting/Lobbying fear creates falsehoods that promote pockets of outrage which leads to violence. The US Constitution protected the mind and expression of thought to explore life and not be afraid to peaceably assemble, as People, not as Corporations [Tax Coded as individuals], to discuss ideas/ideals with the aid of reason and logic.
You, as an Individual, can state falsehood after falsehood of ideals [though you see it as Truth] so long as you respect the relative ideals equally false as your own, amidst the boundary of having no deliberate intent to promote fear and violence as leverage to suppress the thoughts opposed to your own perceptions.
Reason and logic are paramount when it comes to writing Laws. We've thrown that out with the bath water the past 8 years and are starting to use those tools given to us as a self-aware species.”
