“The open borders have been a travesty for decades, both Republican and Democrats using the issue for their own political self interests. It's too bad those that are so self absorbed being partisan can't see the forest for the trees. If one wants to blame Bush for this and the rest of the worlds ills and ignore this problem as simple political spoils than it just underscores the problem.

This is a populist issue that always managed to get low billing as other issues dominate. Sadly, it's caused great harm to this country. From the disproportionately stuffed prisons with illegals and the associated costs in law enforcement, to healthcare that literally absorbs about 5 billion a year in costs from illegals. Harris County (Houston) alone spent over $240 million on healthcare for illegals. The costs just go on and on.

Now there's a good place to put some of that stimulus money, get those borders under control and put some people to work.”

The reason the entire Republican party won't jump on that bandwagon is it would alienate most of the conservative base. They are for enforcing the law unlike our ruling elite. Even most democrats want the border sealed they just have a soft spot in their heart for the illegals who are already here.”
