“Thank you Frank---5 comments on my post by judgemental, deaf 'muricans and finally someone (you) can actually hear my words. I appreciate that. I sincerely hope that nobody (male or female) will ever go through what I did so many years ago. Again, thanks.”

“there's plenty of male-hating sexism on these pages, and plenty of female-on-male violence ( including sexual abuse, where 40% of male victims are abused by females), but few willing to acknowledge it.
“I just don't understand the need for such a bill. Assault laws or domestic violence laws do not state - "unless the victim is a woman, then it's okay" anywhere. I find the whole thing to be quite sexist. Many years ago, my now ex (duh) wife had hit me several times with a 10lb. cast iron frying pan during an argument. Then she came at me with a butcher knife and I defended myself (and, I believe, my life) by hitting her in the eye. Guess who went to jail? Not her. So now what? Do we now need to unnecessarily spend another couple million tax dollars on the VAMA (Violence Against Men Act)? I'm calling bull#*%t.”
Bonney42 on Feb 28, 2013 at 14:54:18
“You happen to be the 1% male victims, and I think if you had been hit in the head that many times she would of gone to jail also. I believe you believe what happened, Exactly how could you not stop a woman from hitting you with a 10 lb. cast iron pan, was she a HUGE woman. Uncle Steve protect yourself prior to the head hits.”
sksnyder25 on Feb 28, 2013 at 13:55:01
“Uncle Steve - please go do research on this bill. IT INCLUDES MEN as well as women. Either one can be an abuse victim. The amount of money put aside for the budget is the same as years past. People act like this is more spending be added to the deficit. It isn't. The last bill expired because the Republicans refused to renew it. Instead they wrote a new law which excluded gays and illegals. The Senate proposed the new bill that covered EVERYBODY which is the bill that was passed. Regardless of the title of the bill it does include men who are also abuse victims.”

The NY Times reports that 37% of Domestic Violence 911 calls are placed by men who have been attacked by women, and that the men are quite often the ones who get arrested.
for the article and many others, some written by female abusers themselves.”

“Well, let's see if Huffpost is truly an unbiased media source; (I kinda doubt it); The reality is that there are millions of guns out there already which makes the logistics of removing them beyond any ignorant attempt. Of all the gun comments I've read on here, every single one of them is calling for more control. With the afore mentioned fact of the number of guns in our society, if guns are outlawed, literally - only the criminals will have then AND by such a law, good citizens will then be forced to break the law if they want to protect themselves. FACT; If every second person in that theater was armed, I am sure as the sun is coming up tomorrow morning - that there would have been exponentially less lives lost. Would every return fire bullet have hit its mark? Absolutely not. But make no mistake, many lives would have been saved if people were more willing and able to protect themselves and their fellow citizens.”

JezebelAlabama on Jul 23, 2012 at 19:16:17
“Not one life would have been saved but a h*ll of a lot more would have been killed. Not one person in that theater would have been equipped to with the right weapon or ammunition to even hurt the shooter. To say otherwise is foolish and foolhardy. The fact that so many gun owners have come on this website alone to say that it would shows a true need to for gun control. At the very least to get them out of the hands of all the gun owners who have no problem risking other peoples lives just to feel like a "hero". Enough already!”
Julius Mitchell on Jul 23, 2012 at 18:27:34
“I think looking at the circumstance from the perspective make things a little to spimplistic.
A lot of people feel if everyone, or if half, or even a quarter of that theatre had a weapon then less lives would've been lost. But Take into consideration that the last thing on anyone's mind in that theatre is some guy may come into this theatre, blow a tear gas bomb, and start shooting an A.K./shotgun at me in any minute. I need to be on my guard. As oppose to "I'm about to enjoy this movie, I'm excited. Can't wait!" To sum it up how likely do you think preperation would be considered for the victims in case of such chaotic random event? 1 to 10.
2. The shooter came in unannounced with assault rifles and tear gas to make matters much more difficult for a "regular" citizen to consider and initate return of attack like say a Navy Seal or even an army veteran. Add the fact he was wearing kevlar and that handgun your carrying is not gonna matter. You run out of the theatre like everyone tried to do and you do it ASAP.
In conclusion, make it much much MUCH more strict to purchase assault weapons or ban them permantley.”
“Am I the only one who wants to throw up here? Again - the presidential race has been narrowed down to forcing the citizens to attempt to make a choice between two candidates who both have been groomed all their lives for this position. They are politicians. Groomed politicians are who got us in this mess. Billions and billions of our dollars in foriegn aid to countrys that would rather see us dead. Countless lives wasted and destroyed for political purpose. Millions of jobs shipped overseas. Minimizing of the middle class. People have long forgotten that they have the power to make this country work. If I had a crew of workers who screwed up a job this bad, I would fire all 543 of them and replace them with people who can do the job properly. Just saying.”
“...and that is one of the biggest problems of our justice system - prosecutors are far to interested in getting a conviction than finding out the truth ( I've been to this movie myself - paying a hefty disturbing the peace fine for an act that I WAS NOT GUILTY OF and the public defender was nothing short of a joke) and law enforcement (not all- just some) are to interested in closing a case rather than finding out the truth. I will admit, with eyewitness testimony (that guilt has got to be killing them now) it would appear that this case would have been a slam dunk, but some very simple things were obviously overlooked - such as the lack of DNA evidence that would have had to be present either on the accused or at the scene & the weapon. Sad”

“I just don't get it. What part of the word "illegal" is in need of questioning here? 400,000 out of 2 million.....20%.......now lets consider that 20% of all government programs for immigrants are being spent on illegals......hmmmmm......I know, we'll just take back 20% of all salaries and benefits (including health care) from Congress and the House of Representatives to cover the loss....How would that taste Washington?”

“If you have a problem with illegal immigration, then blame the so-called "free market" which created a demand for cheap and, dare I say, ILLEGAL labor!
This issue's a lot more complex than what the superficial & dishonest question, "what part of the phrase 'illegal immigration' don't you understand?"
There's a difference between the letter of the law & the spirit of the law. For the past several decades, the de facto reality is that the Spirit of the Law has not caught up with the Letter of the law. When Big Agribusiness lobbies congress to turn a blind eye to the issue, that's a pretty big contributing factor we're talking about. They wouldn't come here if nobody was hiring...
Another big issue we should have to contend with is the fact that the US State Department routinely goes into Latin America & foments political, economic, and civil unrest -- which then creates a refugee crisis that naturally spills over onto American soil. Some might even say we owe it to these people to grant them "amnesty" as a kind of half-hearted apology for when the US State Department destroyed their homelands.”

“Your response seems a bit non sequitur. I object to people using "its cultural" as a smoke screen that keeps people from thinking critically or asking questions. Unless they can show me an ethnography detailing pubescent sexual practices of the Wayuu and an investigation that shows that this particular girl's pregnancy was inline with her culture and her wishes, I tend to think the "pubescent pregnancy is fine in their cultural, leave them alone" perspectives is just a prejudicial preconceived notion about indigenous groups rather than an informed opinion based on facts. Also, where are you getting "jungle living" from? She was from the city of Manaure. Where are you getting Non-christian from? How do you know what their religious practices are? You seem to have a lot of assumptions about what this group is like based on very little actual information.”

“I totally agree with you on this one. Although I too find it quite repulsive, that is because of the society in which I was raised. Had I been raised in their society, I may not find it shocking and even perhaps acceptable if that was the norm - it really makes me sick that we often insist on changing other peoples cultures simply because it leaves a bad taste in our mouths. What is it that makes us think that we are so self rightous?”
“I'd go. Right now, without hesitation. If for no other reason, so that maybe my first grandchild (who will be born in two days) would, at the very least, have the data collected by me (and hopefully others) to study & figure out if a future such journey is reasonable or if we should reach further into space.”
“Thanks for your comment- you make several great points. The story was buried and is now almost impossible to find--check it out.”
“I was 8 years old when we landed on the moon---- I remember talking with my dad who was a carrier man in the airforce, about it. We were both absolutely sure that I could have the possibility of (by now) participating in regular civilian space travel. Obviously not so. I'm pretty bummed about it too. For whatever reason, big brother has decided not to seriously continue the human exploration of space. I know there will be alot of people who will say"thats because its too expensive", but just for giggles here, where do you think we'd be if we would have spent all the money we spent on wars since then for space exploration and developement? I feel robbed.”
ThinkCreeps on Apr 3, 2012 at 15:55:12
“I hope your dad was actually a carrier man in the Navy.
Buy a ticket on Virgin Galactic for $200k - you'll be in space.
Pay RosCosmos $35M and you go into orbit.
We can't explore space personally - it's all too far away. No more than your dad could flap his arms and fly off an aircraft carrier. However, we can make excellent machines to do it for us.”
“That is exactly what I mean. I sincerely feel for you. It's also just one of the reasons that I don't go to the doctor unless I literally need an apendage re- attached or something. I lost my brother in law to cancer a few years ago & his medical bills were over $1,000,000.00. My sister has to live in a tiny (like 600 square feet) house now. Breaks my heart.”
“I just hope somebody loves me that much - to not let me suffer endlessly. I've never understood why (even when I was a little kid) our society generally insists on the prolonged suffering of our elderly. Why consume everything that you've worked your entire life for with medical bills? Give it to your children to enhance their life & step off - shouldn't be a problem if you have real faith.”

If you want what they (or anybody else) has, then you have to get off your dead hind side & step up to the plate, put your b*##s on the line & go work for it. Nobody GAVE this corporation their money, they earned it & they have every right to do whatever they want with it (personally, I like the whole "trip to Mars" in the opener- I can even picture the ship with a big Apple logo on it). God bless capitolism. It's who we are as a country (granted- some corporations could use a better business plan for sure). What I don't believe in is the Gov't "bailing out" failed & poorly managed companys at the tax payers expense (do I really need to list them?) - thats the risk of doing business - you screw up = you fail. “A lot of people will only buy an American car, but since we don't have an American TV company since RCA went under (we use to be the world leader), we are use to buying foreign electronics. Most of Apple's success that people are upset about is because they sent US jobs overseas. Once the US workers developed the technology they then shipped the product to thrid world countries to build to avoid paying the people who buy them the oppertunity to build them, all because they want to make insane profits. Reasonable profits are good, but when a company has insane profits and can't even pay a stock divided since 1996 something is wrong. The investors are not being paid (unless they sell the stock) and it creates unemployment, and causes the trade deficeit with China to go up as we buy more frm them than they buy from us. Wouldn't you pay an extra $1-$5 for an iPod if it meant they were produced in the US?”
“Look guys, I'm not here to argue with you. Nor am I contesting the integrity or judging every single person within the SA. I only posted what I've personally witnessed. Mis-apropriation of several high end donations from both the lowest workers to higher ranking officials, revocation of client program participation because they didn't want to or feel the spiritual need to go to the program mandated daily christian service, and parolees being evicted from a program and returned to prison for ridiculously minor rule infractions. These are facts.”
