“My assessment was simply from his snide comebacks to Letterman's comments. I will grant that Jeter is an exceptional player. But he looks so damn smug all the time!

And it is beside the point that they won, they still suck. Generally speaking. I'm a Sox fan! It's in my genes to say that they suck! I can't help it!”

“These are the most annoying "of all time?" Are the peachfuzz interns at HuffPo completely unaware that television existed even before 1992? Almost all of these were from the past few years! And most of them aren't annoying at all! The Meow Mix isn't annoying, it's wonderful. The Carl's isn't annoying, it's incredibly sexy and made me want to get a burger right this very minute. I thought the Subaru one was cool.

No McDonald's ads? How can you make a list like this and leave out Mr. Whipple? "Where's the Beef?" "I'd like to teach the world to sing" etc etc etc.

Do a little research, kids!”

I am so annoyed by these "toddlers" putting lists together that begin at 1992, I will no longer even click on them anymore. Finis, kaput!

“Jeter's a jerk? Really? The Yankees suck? Seriously?
I get that being a Red Sox fan, you don't have a lot of support for the Pinstripes. Conversely, being a Yankee fan, I don't have a lot of warm fuzzies for Fenway's Favorites. That being said, I respect the Red Sox because the two teams match up pretty well, and every time they play, it's an event because of that fact. When the Red Sox won the series, I never claimed they "sucked" because the fact that they won would directly contradict that claim and make me look rather clueless as a result. As far as the personal attacks, I believe it's a safe bet that you've never met the man in person, so your assessment of his personality is, at best, uninformed.
I have no problem with passionate support of a team. That being said, at this point in time, given all we have been through as a society (and are going through today), shouldn't we have evolved from using the word "suck" to describe a team we don't like just because they aren't our favorite team and they are experiencing more success at the present time?”

Tim Pawlenty Goes Off On Obama: "Corrosive"

Commented Oct 27, 2009 at 08:51:17 in Politics

“Oh man. Where to start?

Fact: It WAS the Republican party that turned the Clinton budget surplus into the hugest debt in our history. It was a Republican that bailed out the banks, and it was a Democrat that has saved the economy from absolute ruin and disaster. You're absolutely right (though I think you didn't intend it) that the Democrats have been calling for more transparency and less pork. You're also right that Obama has pledged not to raise taxes for those making less than 250K.

Your post is so awesomely illiterate and badly-written that you unwittingly lose an argument against yourself.”

itys replied on Oct 27, 2009 at 20:33:06

Commented Oct 25, 2009 at 00:18:32 in Politics

“What you conveniently leave out is the fact that Single Payer and Public Option advocates were NOT invited to the White House. You leave out the fact that Obama has been lukewarm at best about the public option since the debate started. You leave out the fact that he was utterly silent about healthcare during the Teabag days of August. You leave out the fact that he has sat back and let the bought-and-paid-for Congress write this bill. You leave out the fact that he should be leading the fight, not observing as Congress ties itself in knots with rope provided by lobbyists.

I am very, very, very disappointed in the President and his passive inaction on healthcare. It's starting to look like an empty campaign promise.”

“Leadership means following through on campaign promises. It means respecting the will of the people. Obama has been lukewarm at best about the public option since the debate started. He was silent in Teabag August. He continues to be passive. He should, if he is to be respected, be out there EVERY DAY screaming about the public option.

His lack of passion on this vital issue raises a humungous red flag. He's lost my trust.”

“Good idea, lousy execution. The avocado slicer looks brilliant and I want one. Not ridiculous or wasteful at all!! Handipants? Cute, but fingerless gloves are not a new thing, folks, nor are they useless. Potato mitts, damn good idea.

Really, you lose points here for picking examples that are not ridiculous at all. A little harder work would have made a better article.”

MJinCanada replied on Oct 25, 2009 at 18:17:50

“The avocado slicer would be useful if you do a lot of avocados, or if it works with, say, papayas. I use my boiled egg slicer for mushrooms.

The potato mitts, if you watch the video, don't actually work at all.

And those handipants are really the ugliest fingerless gloves I've ever seen, and hardly warm enough to be useful. I'm making a pair for my husband from llama fur -- and before someone from PETA has a conniption, the llama is alive and well and didn't really mind that anyone clipped off his shaggy winter coat before he shed most of it anyway.”

“WOW. Simply astounding. In normal, good countries, this story would be met with utter disbelief. Everybody's covered there. Everybody. The thought that they can deny coverage to a child because s/he is ever so slightly too big or small, it seems surreal, not believable.

How can we allow this to happen?

And then they seem to brag that 89% of the people who come to them actually are permitted to buy it. 89%??? So 11% of the people who call up United Health Care, check in hand, wanting to purchase insurance are denied coverage??? They're MONSTERS these insurance companies!! And the right wing demonizes us for calling for a public option? Why don't they demonize United Healthcare??? It is incomprehensible.”

“Something else?? Something like food? Rent? Gasoline? What an incredibly stupid and insensitive statement. People can't afford to buy health insurance because it's TOO EXPENSIVE.

No other capitalist country (like all of Western Europe) forces people to pay, out of pocket, such absurd prices for mediocre coverage!

You're right about the greedy politicians, though. They happily take campaign contributions of hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to put the needs of private insurance companies before the needs of the American people.”

“It's called "democracy." He was certainly "selected" after a 2-year process of what are called "primaries." He beat the presumed candidate, Hillary Clinton in this selection process. Then, he won a general election with a considerable majority of voters. This is how things work here.

Capitalizing the word "He" is only suitable when one is discussing God or Jesus Christ. To use the upper-case "He" when referring to Obama, to make a little political jab, like Limbaugh when he calls him the Messiah or anointed one, is deeply offensive. In Christianity, we do not take the Lord's name in vain just to make a childish, stupid political jab.

He won, by a large margin, the US presidential election. Which is more than you can say about G. W. Bush in 2000.”
