“Excellent commentary. Spot on. Staying in your seats for the last hour of a flight with nothing in your lap does NOTHING to ensure safety. Neither does the small bottle of shampoo in the clear baggy, taking your laptop out of your bag, taking off your shoes etc. It's all smoke and mirrors to make it APPEAR the TSA is doing something pro active.

“All summer long as we watched the price of a barrel of oil skyrocket, I thought the one silver lining would be that people might finally understand we need to break our depenance. (On ALL fossel fuels, not just oil) Collectively, Americans actually drove a BILLION or so miles less this year than in the past.

Well, low and behold the price of oil is creeping down. (Call me a cynic, but do you think there's a connection between the less miles driven and the drop in price?) I worry that if oil prices stabalize, people will go back to their SUVs.
