“As an atheist, I just find it amusing that most Christians haven't any idea of what's in their bible.
Seems if they are going to use it as a weapon against gays, they ought to know the bible also tells them to not cut down and decorate trees like the pagans. They really haven't much of a leg to stand on when pontificating about how it's a "christmas trees" when God has clearly told them it's a Pagan Tree.”
“LOL Hilarious, since Jesus himself was Jewish and followed the teachings of the prophets and wanted his followers to do the same. You don't know your bible or christian history, do you? Jesus's birth was predicted by the prophets Zechariah, Isaiah, and Micah. Because of them, those looking for a sign knew Jesus fit the bill. Without them, he was just another guy making a claim. How ungrateful your "21st century Christians" have become towards those who came before you in your religion.
Did you ever wonder why most bibles come with a new and old testament? Do you tell your "21st century Christian" leaders to lay off the Old Testament stuff, because it's irrelevant?”
“Christ was Jewish, too. That was my point. If Conservatives want to claim to be Christians, then they cannot get ticked off at pagans claiming the "christmas tree" is a pagan symbol. If Conservatives are Christians, it says right in their bible to not cut down and adorn a tree of the forest, like the pagans do. As an atheist, I LOVE my "xmas tree"!
In other words, this has shown that so-called Christians claiming the "Christmas tree" as their own aren't following their own biblical teachings. As an atheist, I don't care, but I would hope a bible-thumping Michelle Obama hater would think twice before posting their crap about if it's a holiday tree or a christmas tree. It's a pagan idea, and those thumpers should obviously keep away from decorated trees, no matter what they are called.
That's really not that hard to understand, right? Simple concept. We're on the same side, but I'm confusing you with the fact that I can read the bible but still be an atheist.”

“I'm not at all confused about you being an atheist who can read the Bible; which has been translated in numerous languages. As a Christian, I did study Hebrew at one point with a rabbi who came to teach from the East Coast to the Midwest at our Jewish Community Center. I usually use the DiSola Poole translation.I think much has to do with our neighbors, many of whom were Jewish during the late1930s and the 1940s. I used to visit a woman who had sadly lost her own little daughter; her husband who was a defense attorney later became the Legal advisor on the scripts for: Law and Order.”
“Who says your church owns "marriage"?
And why should your Church get a say in our government and its responsibilities towards the rights of ALL citizens? It's fine if your church wants to advocate for human rights, which it does occasionally and admirably, but not when it wants to limit the rights of citizens.”
“"Outmarketed"… or just plain wrong, like the Vatican's former stance on slavery.
"In 1866 The Holy Office of Pope Pius IX affirmed that, subject to conditions, it was not against divine law for a slave to be sold, bought or exchanged."”

“"Outmarketed" if you accept how Cardinal Dolan defines it by it's use in this instance. Then again some won't accept 2 plus 2 equals 4 written on a blackboard in a classroom in the mathematics department of a major university if it is written by a Cardinal.”

“Some in the GOP still believe that is true. Ask Palin.”
“Not sure why all the so-called "Christians" are arguing about if it's a holiday tree or a Christmas tree. The bible clearly says not to cut trees out of the forest and decorate them with gold and silver. Since God himself prohibits this, why do the "Christians" want to defy God and claim it's a "Christmas tree"?

“LOL Well considering Jesus wouldn't be born for a few centuries after that was written.... so it has nothing relevant to do with 21st century Christmas....”

“Perhaps because Jeremiah was Jewish and the brightly displayed Christmas tree is not part of their heritage. They have already been lighting their Hannukah candles.”

“That had to do with the "paganism" by that kind of semi-adorning to worship an artifact of nature that was not allowed to either Jew or Christian in the pagan empires where they were often slaves. It has nothing to do with either horticulture or your racial or religious origins of preference.”

“The Biblical meaning dos not mean not to have a Christmas tree rather not to be boastful and proud when you are just an ordinary person”

“lighten up...you will be happier...should not that be the goal? Whatever it takes to get through the cold and darkest time of year is okay to me...Christian or not.”

“I keep telling you(plural) that the Germans( of the Barbarian or Eastern Empire of the Romans) were tree- worshipers. They are dedicated to that symbolic tree that they bring in from the forest every year. My father who was a Scotsman also had strong feelings about them and brought home a large holiday tree and two slimmer for decor each side of the dining room entrance from the living room. This was part of the deer hunting ritual among men each November.”

“Good thing I don't twist the Bible as you have opted to do.”
“Read the bible: Christians aren't suppose to have a decorated tree. To call it a christmas tree is against the bible.
For the customs of the peoples are vanity. A tree from the forest is cut down and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman. They decorate it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so that it cannot move.”

“And THIS, Violet, is why I DON'T read the bible. Such capricious dictates about things that have nothing to do with getting closer to God. As silly as the edict to not eat meat on Fridays or the "sin" of wearing patent leather shoes.
God gave us a brain for a reason. I wish more people would use it to think for themselves.
Spare me from any cult that tells me what I'm "supposed" to do.”
“That's the statue of limitations for such a lawsuit, as I explained in the first post. You're still missing the point that this can and will be used retroactively by employees who had no feelings of discrimination while being employed, but hold a grudge after leaving a company and will look to get back at them in any way the law allows, especially when they can exploit a politically-charged topic such as this one.”
“Is that what you think?
It's easy to be a misogynist when no one knows your real name, isn't it?
Did a woman get the job you tried out for once? Are you angry seeing fornicating, birth-control using women excel at jobs you fail at? Obviously, if they were more responsible and bought their birth control via the private market and not pay for it via their insurance you'd be making more money now, wouldn't you? Does this even make sense to you? What you're really showing is that you want it as hard on women as possible, that you want more hoops for them to jump through, and if it's completely unfair, the better. You need to let go of this. Someday you may have a daughter that will find a man who hates her as much as you hate women and jump on every female-bashing bandwagon you can find.”

“"It's easy to be a misogynist "
I said nothing misogynistic so lose the victim card ya drama queen. If what I said was false then you should be able to explain why there are so many unwanted pregnancies. The rest of your comment is just man hating jargon you typed just to take up space. Enjoy your Holidays.”
