“Why do we think "the system" can control jack?
This is not a failure of the airlines, it's a failure of human nature, and there's no avoiding that especially if someone wants to game the system, or try their luck at creating chaos.
Throw in the belief in a reward in the after-life, and you further stack the odds against order and control.”

“Poll are funny things and not too nuanced. I'm probably one of those people who do not like this bill - I wanted the public option. That's how I would have voted on a poll.
HOWEVER, I console myself that 31 million additional people will be able to get insurance, and that pre-existing conditions won't keep anyone from getting insurance, and that there will be subsidies for those who can't afford it, and that no one can be dropped if they get sick.
It's a good first step, and I will continue to support Obama as president. I'm not a tantrum-throwing RWNJ who will scream down people in wheelchairs and staple teabags to my forehead.. .. I'm just a voter who will help vote out blue-dog dems next election. Then we'll get to work on fixing this bill.”

“so... if he campaigned on it.. what does this prove to you? That he's not getting 100% of what he wanted? Is any of the healthcare reform bill acceptable to you AT ALL? Your representatives refuse to vote for it.
So let's recap :
Obama won't get 100% - maybe more like 90%.
On the other hand - you and your reps are getting ZERO.”

“He campaigned on it and then said he didn't campaign on it!
He's a liar.
Simple as that.
Could have just as easily fought for the public option and then say "sorry folks, there just weren't enough votes."
That is exactly what he did not do.
After winning the primary and general he ditched the whole thing and claims never to have campaigned on it.
It's all over his web site!
get a clue.”

“31 million people who don't have insurance right now, plus anyone who has a pre-existing condition as the insurance cos define it and can't get insurance, or anyone who would be endanger of losing what insurance they have if they ever got sick and actually needed to use it.
As far as forcing Americans to get insurance, there are subsidies if you can't afford it. But what I understand from Right Wingers, being able to afford anything is all a matter of prioritizing. If you're a Republican, this shouldn't be a problem for you, right? Rush says it's the difference between buying a house like his on the waterfront, or a bungalow - it's all up to you. Of course it's not, but that's what Rush says.
My representative just finished telling the host of my public radio station that the insurance companies will be regulated so that they don't gouge consumers who are compelled to buy insurance.
Is it that you just don't like the idea that you have to buy insurance because right now you don't have it, and that's your choice, and you don't like your choice taken away, .... or what?”

If they misrepresent what they've read they should be penalized.
But then, we live in a completely disfunctional society which has no hope to expect that they'd stop lying to us because we, the people, seem to accept this is par for the course. We'll just turn back to American Idol ..”

“I have a couple of old books - one's called "Murder Ink" and the other is "Murderess Ink." In the second, Stephen King writes an article called something like "How to Scare a Women to Death" - which goes into the subtle things that females pick up. There's the obvious, like threatening kids (that's why kids are always threatened in his books) and then there's the more subtle fear inducing tricks like moving the lady's toothbrush to the other side of the sink when no one's suppose to be home.
In the same book, Tabitha Kings writes a counter-article called "Living With the Boogie Man".
