5 Reasons Gay Marriage Losing Streak May Be Over

5 Reasons Gay Marriage Losing Streak May Be Over

Commented Jun 14, 2012 at 09:50:57 in Politics

“no marriage is not a right, but equal protection under the law is (see 14th Amendment). So if you're going to have marriage it can't just be limited to who you want it to be. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. It took segregation 100 years to end but our Constitution ultimately won out. It will do so again.”

“Marriage has been repeatedly been ruled as a civil right here.”

"Four Christmases" Wins Weekend, "Australia" In 5th

Commented Dec 1, 2008 at 13:46:23 in Entertainment

“I think the box office take tells us more about the audience than the quality of the picture or actors. I loathe "Christmas movies" because they are so silly and I just don't think that kind of "my family is weird but lovable" humor is all that funny. However, many people seem to enjoy that so if that's what they want then more power to 'em. There's room in the world for all kinds of movies...including cliche-filled, old-fashioned romances like Australia which I thoroughly enjoyed...and People Magazine got it totally right with Hugh Jackman by the way.”

Protest at Mormon Temple Not Best Messaging Method

Commented Nov 12, 2008 at 18:25:21 in Politics

“I disagree. True, protesting outside the mormon tabernacle will not win the argument, but it is one tool to use. The fight will ultimately be won through organization and education. However, it is fact that the Mormon Church took a very public stand in favor of the proposition. It is the right of the opposition to bring that to the public's attention. I would hardly call that another Kristallnacht. With a large and loud enough protest, the Church may think twice before pulling a stunt like this again. Framing the Church by the intolerance it represented in this case is one way social change can occur. I would also like to see an investigation into whether or not the church violated its tax-free standing by its participation.”

Michelle Obama On Hillary "Controlling" Bill: "That Is A Foreign Concept To Me"

Commented Feb 5, 2008 at 13:47:37 in Politics

“alwaysinterested... I agree with your comments completely. The focus of the Obama campaign is to tear down Hillary and tear apart the Bill Clinton presidency. I, too, will have no part of it. I also removed myself from the Moveon.org list because I felt it was a mistake for that organization to endorse a candidate in the primary. I will also not vote for Obama in November (if it comes to that).”

Commented Feb 4, 2008 at 20:33:57 in Politics

“Sorry, but I'm not looking for hope or inspiration from the president. I'm looking for leadership. I find inspiration and hope outside of politics and feel a little sorry for those who need a politician to inspire them. I'm supporting Hillary. She's the real leader.”

What Still Bugs Me About Barack

Commented Feb 1, 2008 at 23:39:33 in Politics

“"Change" for change sake is idiotic. We are electing a LEADER folks. Screaming change at the top of your lungs does not mean that it will be for the better. And for the record, Hillary did not single-handedly start the war and kill thousands. Obama voted to continue the war on a number of occasions (an inconvenient truth, I know). Obama is a fine person, and I will vote for him if he is the nominee, but there are alot of people on this site that need to stop acting like he's the g**d*** messiah.”

“Trollstakeyourmeds is right. I wonder whether or not a male candidate has "not one tear anywhere NEAR" their eyes makes them cold and calculating? And for the record, sometimes leadership requires a person to be cold and calculating. A leader is not about warm and fuzzy having a beer with them. It's about someone who can analyze the complexities of the world and map a course. This cult of personality/celebrity that we have developed around our politicians is dangerous.”
