Giuliani the Brave

Commented Nov 17, 2009 at 13:20:52 in New York

“Giuliani is the ultimate 9/11 opportunist and exploiter. He used it as a tool to launch into a Presidential run and international security consulting business with his crooked (Now convicted) partner Bernie Kerick. Before that, he was just the law breaking, mistress-loving mayor of a city with a renegade police force that liked to dress in drag.

What a joke. Never believe anything he says.”

“This game and those like are rated M for a reason! Don't let a young kid play this, and stop thinking that video games are kid stuff because you are the one responsible for what you minor is playing in your house over your internet connection.

These games are designed for adults, with a lot of realism, extreme violence, blood and confusion like in real combat, very harsh language, seemingly indifferent attitudes toward loss of life (UAV drone strikes and AC-1130 gunship attacks on enemy, complete with radio voiceover of kill confirmation, "Good hit, multiple confirmed kills", etc.)

If a kid does end up with warped views about violence, it's not the game's fault, it's the parent's. Same thing as letting a kid watch "House of 1000 Corpses" or "Hostel" or something like that, except those are real people on the screen. Parents need to get it through their head that they need to supervise, not just whip out the credit card and pay for a game to occupy little Johnny's time while you watch TMZ.”

“Very naive statement. Picture a disaster happening tomorrow, with no cops or feds to look after you, how are you going to protect your family? I'm not saying go out and buy 20 guns, but a handgun is a deterrent. Having lived in high crime areas, you learn not to trust the cops to come "save you". Half the time they didn't even show up.”

“A person "defending" themselves with a gun is 30% more likely to get shot than a person without. Fact”

Paul Hackett replied on Oct 07, 2009 at 14:43:53

“Areas which feature high gun ownership in the US such as the south, Texas, etc. have much higher violent crime rates. Why do you think that is? As for the comments about rogue regimes putting bullets in the back of people's heads, please spare me the silly paranoia. Can you show me any examples of this happening anywhere in a western democracy over the past 50 years? Nope, I didn't think so.”

moutonnoir replied on Oct 07, 2009 at 14:38:57

“'Protect you family'... 1 man with a gun against any sort of organized force is a sure way to get yourself and your family shot... I do not see how these guns can be used for protection.. By the time a confrontation happens, your gun will still be in it's holster....

orrr.. should we all carry guns cocked and ready at all times? you know, for protection(and to never loose an argument)”

When I lived in Newark, I knew guys who would go down south with a shopping list and come back with your gun. You never had to go anywhere, that's how typically guns get into the city illegally.”

Segregation and Friends

Commented Jul 29, 2009 at 13:37:49 in Politics

“Good points and observations, all put together very well.
Sadly, I was reminded of BET, maybe the polar opposite of the concept of Fox and Friends on cable TV. What is the only channel dedicated to Black interests, lacks a single serious program or News of any kind. Guess black people only want to see music videos?

With that in mind, I really can't blame Fox; or watch it.”

LoHaze replied on Jul 29, 2009 at 15:29:07

“Oh way - BET shows Obama programming - maybe because he's a BLACK president?? How racist is that? They never showed any type of news programming before him!”

Benton replied on Jul 29, 2009 at 14:23:35

“Virtually everything statement, assumption and presupposition in your post is incorrect and demonstrative of a very superficial understanding of BET, FOX and the relationship of both too the black community. First, the only network that has received more protest then FOX from blacks of all walks of life is BET particularly when it was a station owned by the black conservative, Johnson.

A network dedicated primarily to entertainment (albeit low brow) is not the same as a news network that spreads lies, hate, and panders to notions white supremacy.”

letsbepeaceful replied on Jul 29, 2009 at 14:19:28

“Well, BET does stand for Black Entertainment Television, which indicates that there is no intent to have a news component. There are other replies to your post that are relevant too.”

Poboy replied on Jul 29, 2009 at 13:56:18

“Wrong.

About BET, there have been many of us Black people who were trying to get Bob Johnson, previous owner, to invest more in programming, especially news, but to no avail.

Johnson claimed BET was "entertainment" and not serious, and he invested very little into programming and took out all the profits from the company. In other words, he had no respect for Black people.

Aaron McGrudor's Bonddocks comic strip repeatedly addressed the issue.

Springbirdgirl replied on Jul 29, 2009 at 13:54:33

“Your point would be valid if BET were not owned by Viacom. Additionally, BET was primarily a music channel whose goal was to provide an alternative to the rock based MTV (during the Bob Johnson era). There have been black news shows in the past and present but they were not supported. Overall, money talks and if people stopped supporting the madness that is Fox, Murdoch would change formats in a heartbeat...”

“Women who schedule sex and think their husband "begs" too much will find out what it means to be cheated on, and it'll be their fault. Prepare yourselves.

I can't think of a better way to kill a sex life than scheduling it for twice a week. Twice a week is fine if you have a girlfriend on the side to take care of your sex needs for real, because they're into you and want it, not because they feel forced. It must have been some all female echo-chamber that came up with the lousy idea to deprive your partner and demean his needs out of laziness, while justifying the position.”

Why I'm Running for Mayor of NYC

“CIA honed these skills in South America and Asia for many years. If you want info and the "detainee" is afraid of spiders, then you use spiders. I'm sure a helmet full of fire ants would work too. There are no real rules in that world, away from the "civilized" halls of Congress and US soil, regardless of all the hand-wringing when this type of thing comes to light. Warfare of any kind is about exploiting weaknesses. Black Operators and Special Operators are "special" because they understand and employ methods used by the "enemy" to beat them at their own game..

It's a dirty business, but ultimately what they do supports and props up the American way of life. CIA and multinational business are like two sides of the same coin. The only reason we are able to live the way we do is because somebody else, somewhere on the other side of the world, is getting screwed.”
