“I could not agree more. THIS is what passes for journalism? An article on Palin's MAKEUP? How about something a bit more relevant like say, oh, HEALTH CARE? Ms. Pearl, you are as airheaded as your subject. Put some gloss on THAT.”

“Where is "Corporate America" in all this? Aren't they responsible for a large portion of "job loss" by discarding employees like Kleenex! They have cut back and cut back their employees and now find that those who still have jobs are reluctant to spend for fear that they will be next! I had said for quite some time that Corporate America was about to implode - well, I guess I was right.

Let's bring back the jobs that were "outsourced" in the effort to improve the bottom line, jobs like Accounting and Customer Service in addition to the manufacturing jobs. There should also be a pledge that any jobs created from now on won't be shipped overseas.

I'm not sure that it's Obama and his administration's fault that unemployment is as high as it is - Corporate America needs to accept a lot of the blame (and Wall Street)!”

“Congress should also repeal the law giving minorities preference for small business loans. There should be equal footing for anyone who has a good idea for a business. To me it's reverse discrimination of a sort. We should also seal our borders and ports to stop people from coming into our country illegally and then living on our dime.”

“I have been saying for quite some time that "corporate America" was about to implode. I had no idea it would have such a deep impact. Their answer to cost cutting seemed to be either to outsource or cut back on employees. Do more with less seemed to be their modus operandi. Cut the cost to satisfy the stockholders! The blue collar worker (and some white collar) have become expendable. We have become a "tissue" workforce. Discard your workers as if they were Kleenex. Now everyone is worried about consumer confidence. How can we have any confidence - 3M is supposedly closing 16 of their facilities - the big three will undoubtedly lay off more and more of their workers in their restructuring. Alcoa is laying off a huge number of their employees - newspapers have been cutting their work force by ten percent or more. Consumer confidence - SURE!”

“With Bush finally leaving, we certainly don't want to trade one embarassment for another! However, I'm not throwing away my duct tape and plastic sheeting just yet.

I also wonder what the Rovians have up their sleeve. Hopefully there won't be enough states where the votes will be close enough for their usual tactics.

I hope Sarah Sixpack's 15 minutes of fame are about over. Reminds me of the song, "North to Alaska..."”

“Hopefully, it will be the demise of the Republican Party also. I'm surprised at the enthusiasm Sarah Six-Pack still receives, after all, this isn't "American Idol". They don't seem to realize the severity of the situation. I thought the Republicans were smarter than that, but I guess I was wrong.

I think McCain's rationalization will be that the people at their rallies insist that he ask Obama the questions about Ayres, etc. So, it won't be HIM asking, but he's asking for his supporters. I doubt that he'll have the gonads to ask Obama face to face, however.

It's getting really scarey. I thought Sarah surely wouldn't "bear false witness" if she's really as devout as she would like us to believe.”

“Erica:

You mentioned the possibility of civil unrest after the election has been stolen. I wonder why is there now a Infantry Battallion in Colorado, and Bush can call up the National Guard without the approval of the Governors, and with FISA, he can do almost anything he so desires and the telecommunication companies won't be held liable, etc. Sounds prettty radical. But with the current melt down bailout happening just now, aren't there a lot of coindences!

PS I liked "The Fear of Flying".”

“I was also disappointed by Gwen Ifill not insisting that Palin answer the question she had asked. After all, there was a contract between the DNC & the RNC.

For someone who's a candidate for a national office, I should think the voting public would demand more access to her.

She's about the best example of "artificial intelligence" that I've seen or heard! You betcha!”
