Olympia Snowe Will Vote Against Health Care Reform

“Take away her government health insurance, and tell them they all get the public option. I bet it would be wonderful then. She was never going to vote for it anyway. Suggesting she might just gave her a little bit more time in front of the lights.”

If we demonstrated FOR the public option, we would be seen as merely the liberal side of tea baggers. LIEberman should lose every advantage he has for supposedly being on the Democratic side of the Senate. He isn't, and he should lose everything. Heck, if he was runnning against a Republican, I'd seriously think about donating to his opponent. Ick”
Rep. Capuano Tells Fellow Dems: 'You're Screwed'

“I am very frustrated. I write, every week, Pelosi, Reid, Pres. Obama, Harkin and Grassley (and I occasionally add Steve King, my Rep. which is merely an exercise in typing.). I write occasionally to Grayson, Sanders, and Kucinich. I'm nice, I've said my donations to their reelections will be withdrawn (which really means less doughnuts for them), one person, or twenty, or a hundred is not going to change this.
I wanted single payer, well, that's not going to happen in my lifetime. I compromised on wanting a good public option. That's looking farther away. i was slightly happy with Medicare for 55 yos. And that's going downhill fast. There is nothing more I can do. The majority must stand together, but they're not. If 53% of the population wants single payer, or at least a public option. We're going to have to start demonstrating. And then everyone will think we are the liberal's idea of a tea party. What do we do now?”

“Same track I'm on..... we appear to have, at least, dropped the curtains on the two major political parties in the US. They're both parties beholden to the corporations. The "left right" debate is mostly bread and circuses. And apparently between the demise of the middle class and the refusal to share the costs as a group of our healthcare -- we're destined to be a vastly overarmed third world country in terms of society and culture.

“Willow712. ..I feel your pain. The fact is however, that there really aren't any significant differences between Democrats and Republicans. They're all in the back pockets of various lobbying groups and at the end of the day care more about the voices of big business than yours or mine. Unfortunately things are going to have to get a lot worse in this country, and they will, before the people can take back control of their congress. It is going to be a very difficult and messy next ten to twenty years.”

Poll: 35% Of Republicans Want To Impeach Obama

“35%, is that all? I have become totally amazed at the seemingly normal people walking around in my country, shopping, working, etc. that had the strangest, oddest, weirdest ideas I've ever heard. There was a teabagger sign up at the Labor Day Parade in my little town, and people were lined up! I must admit I live in a Republican enclave of Iowa. But to believe that right wing Fundamentalist nuts are walking around in my town, its just shocking. Up til now, I thought Republicans were moderate, fiscally sound, smart people, But I was wrong. Sure there are still moderates around. But the things they believe, and the things they are against is just mind boggling to me.”

“I agree. People sitting in offices have no idea off the work that keeps everything going in this country. And it seems that the more someone is paid, the less they work. There are a lot of skilled and unskilled blue collar workers that used to raise families on their pay. Not anymore. One can't feed, insure, send to school, and clothe children these days on a manufacturing job.”

“There are unfortunately a whole lot of jobs in this country like this. Assembly line, where do you think your frozen pizzas and TV dinners and steaks and all that come from? The people running the machines get a raise, but between the cattle and the grocery store, there are millions of jobs just as difficult, or more, than Amazon. I once lived in Colorado Springs, and a job in great demand was at Walter Drake. Its a similar catalog place, and their workers do the same job, day after day. What about the peoplee making frozen pizza? I did that foe years. Its a horrible job. But its a way to make money for rent and food. But nobody had employee insurance, it started at minimum wage and there was a measure of pride in being able to do this job five days a week. These people worked hard, played hard, partied their weekends up, until they got older, and realized they should go back to school.”

“Assembly line food jobs are worse than this. Imagine being in Pennsylvania, cold and wet in the winter, hot and wet in the summer (due to the washing down of machinery), assembly line jobs, mandatory overtime, the line doesn't quit for a break until the line is empty, Working with young college kids in the summer, its great inspiration for them to keep going to school. Every one of them said they were thinking of quitting school and getting a job, and now they realized they had to finish school. Carpal tunnel problems, people passing out from the heat, filling boxes with frozen pizzas. Heck, Amazon sounds like a better deal. There ARE difficult jobs out there. And before I went back to school to become a nurse, I probably worked a good percentage of them.”

“What is so wrong with a Medicare E program, or allow people to go on medicaid, but pay a certain amount based on earned income. or something like that. People that are low income, but working, or making minimum wage could pay for good coverage (medicaid pays for everything), based on income, like the school lunches, food stamps, etc. Find out you make 15,000 a year, pay a certain standard amount for health insurance for a family of _____. That would cover a large percentage of the people unable to afford or get insurance.”

Late-Term Abortion Battle Erupts In Nebraska
Commented Dec 04, 2009 at 20:40:22 in Politics
“You are assuming that the fetus is always healthy. There are far more women that don't abort, and put off and delay necessary medical care than ones that automatically abort their late term baby. The great majority of late term abortions are for unhealthy, genetically damaged fetuses. Very few Mothers give up a healthy fetus because they need chemo. They wait until the baby is going to be viable, then deliver quickly.”

Late-Term Abortion Battle Erupts In Nebraska

“And what normal woman with a normal healthy pregnancy is going to abort at 8 months?
Women don't wake up one morning deciding to abort their baby. The great majority of later term abortions are done because the amnio and ultrasound shows that baby will suffer and live for days or weeks in pain. No brain, severe birth defects, etc. A huge amount of money would be spent to keep this fetus alive, even knowing he will never live. millions of dollars can be spent in weeks, then the baby dies of this illness or anencephalopathy, or Potters, etc. and no baby.
I had a miscarriage about 30 years ago, in a Catholic hospital, I was 7 months pregnant. The Doctor said that if the child had been born, he would have lived possibly for days or weeks. They did an ultrasound, twice, back in the days when ultrasounds were not the norm. If I were pregnant now, if I had the knowledge to know that this child was going to suffer or never live, I would go to Nebraska. Why spend millions of dollars in NICU for days or weeks to watch a suffering baby die?”

The fun is in the trip, not the drunk at the end. The drunk at the end is usually "boy, I had a wild weekend, I got drunk and threw up all over." Then spend the next two days on the couch, telling everyone you have the flu. lol”
