“"Walmart's current systems, with respect to the collection and remittance of sales tax, are in compliance with Pennsylvania's tax laws," Walmart Spokesperson Dan Fogleman wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. "We have previously sought an opinion from the state which confirmed this.”
Oh really? Who did he ask and when? Was it the groundskeeper at the state capital? A secretary? A clerk? Did this come through Metcalf's office?”

“It says they asked the state. Read before you make a fool out of yourself. The State attorney generals office is usually in charge of this.”
“Anal retentive comes to mind when I think of how the employees are screwed on hours and pay while the Walton' wallow in luxury.
How anal can you get screwing a customer out of twenty one cents in a bogus scheme hiding behind state taxes that are not even due.
How many times does this scenario play over in every store in every state every hour of the day?
It must add up. Look at how filthy rich the corporation has become.”

“Many states have as statute the procedure Walmart used to calculate the sales tax.”
“Sales tax is according to the actual money transaction between a customer and a vendor.
The law clearly states that in a 2 for 1 thansaction a new price is established.
Sales tax is based upon the actual monetary transaction, not the supposed "value" or quantity of the product.
What you are suggesting is a freebie to the vendor at the customers expense.”

“The vendor being WalMart? Okay, I'm really being dense with this one, so forgive me. Is the law uniform or do local tax codes come into play? If so, would this change anything? Meaning, can a retailer ask for a tax its paid out on an item already? If not, wouldn't WalMart be paying the taxes for the consumer? And since all items aren't taxable, then tax is something separate from an item. Right?”
“Section 33.2(b)(2) of Pennsylvania's code. The section establishes that items purchased with discounts including “buy one, get one free” will have a "new purchase price" and be taxed as such.
The purchase price of $2.97 was the "new purchase price" and should not include a doubled tax.
The doubled tax was not expected to be paid to the state of PA. It was intenended for the coffers of the Waltons.”

“I get the part that WalMart would pocket the tax. But, didn't Walmart pay out the tax initially when purchasing the item to sell at its stores? That's the part I find confusing. All WalMart is doing is asking not to be charged a middleman tax. Didn't WalMart pay a tax on the item or not? I'm not asking about total sales. I'm asking about WalMart as initial purchaser.”
“"Farneth claims that Walmart is specifically in violation of Section 33.2(b)(2) of Pennsylvania's code. The section establishes that items purchased with discounts including “buy one, get one free” will have a "new purchase price" and be taxed as such."
Walmart charged him twice the same price and then subtracted the price of one and yet still charged tax for the 2nd.
The amount of tax on the total amount paid is all that was due on the purchace. Walmart conveniently keeps the change.”

“I am not a Lawyer, but I would bet that when the State Revenue Service is looking at a Company's books for taxes collected, when the company collects some amount from a customer as tax that is the amount the state will expect to receive. There is no way the Gov. is going to let you collect money labeled as tax and then put it in your pocket.”

“There is an effort to put country of origin on all processed meat sold in stores, but it is being fought tooth and nail by an association of American meat processors. They are claiming it would cost too much to put a lable on their product.”

“Thanks for the information. Thought I'd seen some on fresh meat labels but I might be thinking about canned meats.”
“Surely you would not begrudge a few pennies in the interest of easing the pain and suffering of a terminally ill person.
Likewise I hope you would not be willing to withhold a lifesaving procedure or cure (surgery or prescription) to a person with a life threatening illness or disease.
It is more a matter of empathy and compassion rather than counting pennies.
In our current system, insurance boards are willing and able to deny procedures not explecitly mentioned in your contract. Essentially, people have no recourse except to die a slow and painful death.”

“I DO very much begrudge "a few pennies in the interest of easing the pain and suffering of a terminally ill person". You see, I'm already spending a "few pennies" for our AIDS suppression program in Africa, a "few pennies" to support the 100,000 Syrian refugees in Lebanon tent cities, a "few pennies" to feed the disadvantaged who are on the ballooning Food Stamp Program, a "few pennies" to provide the poor with free Obama phones, a "few pennies" for subsidized prescriptions for the elderly, a "few pennies" for free Medicaid healthcare for the indigent, a "few pennies" for govt subsidized loans for cash-strapped students, etc.
My priority is to pay my student loans, and to provide financial support for the education of my children & grand children so they won't be strapped with Govt student loans. My priority is to avoid mortgage delinquency. My priority is to ensure that I pay for my family's housing and food so that we don't fall into the Govt safety net. My priority is to save in case I need those funds IF I BECOME TERMINALLY ILL, or if am needed to support health crises of my family and closest friends..
My additional priority is to protect the money that I have to charitably contribute to the Red Cross, Big Brothers Program, Meals on Wheels, Komen, etc. Why do you want to punish those people who rely on those organizations by forcing me to divert my money to another Govt. Program?”
“Well, well, well, finally. After using the same tactics to get elected and reelected Mitch is finally under the magnifying glass of public scrutiny.
He doesn't even care about his own party or his constituants, all he cares about is POWER and money, not necessarily in that order.
His record and approval ratings are so abismal I give even chances to either Matt bevins or Allison Lundegrin unseating him.”
“The origninal plan would have been exactly what you want and "they" have.It was shut down in a majority Democratic House by Blue-Dog Demorcrats until a compromise was reached.
The compormise was filibustered in a Democratic controlled Senate by a minority Senate a record number of times until another compromise was reached.
Now, by biparisan approval, we have what has been dubbed .....and slowly accepted as Obama Care.
I remember a speech by McConnel declaring he would devote his efforts to make Obama a one term President.”
“Maybe you better tell Glen Beck, Sean Hannity or Rush Lomough about this so everyone will finally know the absolute unbiased truth and facts. Everyone knows they always empty the trough and very seldom lie silently while perogatives and a chance to enhance goes by.”
“Your use of language implies that a sexual act somehow authenticates your point of view.
I was a little surprised by your micro-bio, but I do beleive this link applies to you in all ways, shapes or forms.
“"Doctors" as in plural, more than one? Your psychologist, your psychoanalist, psychologist, General M.D., and your Dentis?
How is it that so many professionals prescribe to you their most personal thoughts concerning society and their innermost thoughts concerning the plight of those who cannot afford their services?
Money hungry doctors will remain in places such as Southern states where Obamacare is rejected. Health will continure, as well as rational thought, in Blue States.”

“Wow, your ignorance overflows. Since when is it their most personal thoughts. You are out there. I asked their opinion. I am close enough with my general practitioner and my dentist to have these conversations. Grow up genius, you obviously live a sheltered life that you don't feel adequate enough to have a conversation with your medical providers.”
“Actually, you can blame the current system, including the AMA, for the shortage of Doctors.
On top of that you can blame Doctors for the shortage of Nurses.
Egocentric and alway critical.
Underpaid and unappreceiated, they save more lives on a daily basis than any Doctor in history.”
