Aid Supplies Go Unused As Cholera Epidemic Claims Lives In Haiti

Commented Nov 5, 2010 at 10:41:11 in Impact

“A PAHO/WHO warehouse is the main source of all medical supplies in Haiti.

This video shows large supplies of glucose to suggest that supplies are being hoarded during the cholera outbreak ravaging the county; however glucose is not used to treat cholera and therefore the footage misrepresents the situation.

So far, AHO/WHO has distributed over 3,500 litters of IV fluids, 64 , 000 sachets of oral rehydration salts and 180,000 antibiotic tablets. In addition diarrhoea kits to treat up to 5000 people have been delivered. More needs to be done, but it is a start.”
