The thing is, there are many many excellent singers who still haven't gotten noticed, either because they didn't have a record company to back and publicize them, or because (like Susan for much of her life) they just love to sing and don't have the ambition to overtly publicize themselves.
Do a YouTube search for Happy Rhodes Temporary and Eternal. Here's a woman with a phenomenal, gorgeous voice (4 octave range), beautiful music, interesting lyrics, has been making music for over 25 years, has 11 amazing albums, but is totally obscure. Not because she's not fiercely talented, but because she's never been on a major record label, and because she's too much of a homebody to go out on the road for whirlwind national tours. She prefers her husband, cats and farm to tours, fame and glory. There's nothing wrong with that. But she is a world-class talent and it is a shame she isn't better-known. She's not in it for the money, all 11 albums are on YouTube as audio-only tracks, and elsewhere as streaming audio. There are several dozen live clips too if anyone's interested. Maybe one day something will happen, the timing will be right, and she'll be discovered. Maybe not. But the music is there, timeless and patiently waiting.

“nope, not a Scientologist. (far from it!) But, anti-depressants are known for doing this to many many people. My point is, I bet the guy was on an antidepressant, and that it helped him to enact a horrible crime that he had never been able to go through with all of these years. Sometimes it's "simply" a suicide, but as we see in the news, far too many times it is mass murder and then suicide. One need not be a Scientologist to have justified misgivings about many of the psych meds that are being doled out like candy corn on Halloween.”

“The thing is, the movie is about a lot more than that basic simple plot device. It actually goes into what the box is for and who is responsible for sending the box out, and why. I hadn't planned on seeing it but a scheduling conflict and the fact that Precious was sold out made it the only movie playing. Sit around for 2 hours, or go home and come back? No, we'll see The Box. Ugh. Turns out, I thought it was fascinating. Weird, yes. Somewhat confusing, yes. Simplistic? Not at all. There's an actual movie there, with a plot, and it's very psychological and interesting. It was to me anyway. I'd like to see it again because what you learn at the end will make everything that came before have a deeper meaning.”

“And while I'm here, might I just say how much I loathe the title of this story? "How Bad Is It?" Katy Hall or whoever wrote the stupid title, obviously doesn't see many movies, or they'd already know that Timberlake is a good actor, but like most of the people commenting, having never seen his good performances, just assumes it's going to be bad and tries to skew the results.
According to IMDB, the writer/director Michael Meredith "Frequently collaborates with German director Wm Wenders." Wenders has made some of our finest movies, such as Wings Of Desire, Until The End Of The World, Paris, TX, Buena Vista Social Club and Land Of Plenty (Meredith wrote the screenplay to this wonderful movie starring Michelle Williams). You'd have to be special to have someone like Wenders want to collaborate with you and film your script.
Why should it be bad? Maybe it will be, or maybe it'll be great. There's no reason to snark like that "How Bad Is It?" before the movie even comes out.
If the snark is just talking about the trailer, what's wrong with it? It's not a great trailer because it's trying to make the movie seem more lighthearted than it probably is, but it's still not bad.

I admire the guy (for his acting, I've never heard his singing) because he's doing it right, taking smaller roles in indie films to learn his craft, which shows he's serious about acting, and working with people who have interesting things to teach him.

“Obviously, most of the naysayers have never seen Alpha Dog, Black Snake Moan or Southland Tales. Timberlake was excellent in those movies. I'm not a Timberlake fangirl either. As far as I know I've never heard one single song he's ever sung. I *only* know him as an actor in those movies, and I was impressed. I see a lot of movies too, over 170 in the theater last year.
