It's possible for a tourist to go from Israel to the West Bank. Don't you want to see for yourself? Simply to be there and to listen to what people have to say would be a great experience.

“They still made it. "Well if we had no political opposition we could have done THIS" is the hallmark claim of parties too weak to live. Given that they've got more unified power at the highest level of government than they've had in decades and will for decades to come and almost all the conflict is within their own party, it's an even weaker excuse. If they can't govern effectively now, they can't govern at all.”

“No room down there for this. But do not worry, JJ--I am not at all making the excuse that women are abused here, so it is OK there. I am abhoring it in both places. And, I am also saying to those who would say "those people" do that sort of thing-- we need not be too smug about our superiority because we also have a way to go in the human rights department. We've gone through such changes since the civil rights era. But what many young women take for granted was fought for by their elders not so long ago, and there are still vestiges left. Abuse of women is one. Intolerable everywhere. Honor killings, female circumcision (there's a euphemism), denial of basic rights, domestic abuse--on a continuum. All wrong, everywhere.”

“I'm glad you explained. Yes, it makes sense now. And I am very sure the rabbi will be missed as well.He was the victim of a crime, I believe.
My point was that the perpetrators should be arrested and brought to trial and justice should be served. Of course the surrounding circumstances are such that we probably can't know what is happening. But it sounds like the military moved right in, where a police force should have been, and conducted some rough justice.
The acts are criminal in nature, but the military should not be judge, jury and executioner. What can we say about state-sponsored/ condoned murder? When it is condoned by either authority is degrades their credibility. There remains the problem of overwhelming might. I am hoping it will be used much more wisely. Let criminals be captured alive and tried. To do otherwise is a stain on the legitimacy of the law.
Point well taken about the irony, but one misguided Palestinian source cannot legitimise murder. And, very few here would have read that source.
Even though we see things a bit differently, I believe we wish for the same result--peace. And I appreciate your comments.”

The Israeli government, for their own sake, need to be extra vigilant about not going over board.
But the media must stop, this is insane that Israel is so demonized.
I used to be a liberal, and now I'm disgusted by their whole-hearted adoption of this slander.
I feel like it's the end of days when I'm agreeing with any one on the right.
But also Yank, try to look at the big picture. Israel can not afford the luxuries that the US has, in terms of justice. Just now I read another blog about 2 Hamas leaders just got car-bombed by Hezbollah. It's definitely a little more wild west out there, you have to know that. And where I live gets pretty crazy, so I can't imagine there.
Peace :)”
