“Yeh, if Thoreau had a three-storey "cabin" from which to photograph his modest shack. That's what plays the most important role. Check out the original story for photos of them lounging before the fire with their two gigantic purebred dogs. Real planet-gobblers, these folks.”

“Fortunately for most of us, we have survived our youthful indiscretions/lapses of judgment relatively unscathed. Situations can spin right out of control, given the factors involved here.
This is a big old mess of a case, and it's near impossible to determine what exactly happened. Could be as the prosecution says, or not.
For those who are sure of her guilt because she did not "act" innocent, a few words:
"Dingos took my baby."
THose sure of her innocence because Italy is so corrupt (which it is) check out the wrongful executions in Texas.
Ah justice, it is imperfect and its icon wears a blindfold. Truth is, judges and juries are human and can make mistakes.”

“The sure thing here is that the evidence against these two was very flimsy, and there was no motive, as the prosecutor admits. The other sure thing is that one person was already convicted of rape and murder based on solid and abundant DNA evidence at the crime scene, something mysteriously lacking for the other two accused.
The trial speaks for itself, and it speaks volumes.
I believe these charges will be dropped or reduced on appeal.”

“That's a tired argument, based on what he would have done 2 years ago. For Obama to be sending more troops to Afghanistan to fight the Bush-Cheney 'war on terror' would be like FDR sending troops to the battle of Arnheim in 1945 after it was lost (and a dismal failure) in 1944.

We know a heII of a lot more now about the true state of our national security and where and what the threat really is.
That also is the only campaign pledge of Obama's that he's trying to keep -- Every other one has been broken because "We're NOT starting from scratch", etc. Only the 'now' matters, and this is the wrong decision for now. It goes completely against the Obama doctrine, for what US foreign policy should be around the world, so Obama's even going against his own positions.”
