“Wow, Zia. It's this kind of gaming of the system which will assure it's failure. If reform is to be meaningful and lasting it needs to be done correctly, and this bill is a complete mess. Rather than trying to pass it in the middle of the night with little or no real debate, why doesn't this administration do what they said they'd do: ie, get all the parties at the table and put it on CSPAN so we the people know what's going on. We're not necessarily against reform, but we need to understand it, and we need to believe in it.

“Many do not remember the spirit of 1992. There were several Democrats who stood for health care reform. Not only the new President who meant it to be the showcase of his administration but people like Senator Wellstone of Minnesota. Pennsylvania elected as Senator a man whose wife was dying of cancer and who ran in order to get in under the Congressional health coverage.

Hillary care was careful and limited, but it was blocked and in the aftermath, the Republicans carried both houses of Congress, putting an end to all hopes of reform. An insurance firm called Golden Rule made generous donations to Republicans and was authorized to conduct a health savings account with catastrophic coverage as a regional program. Otherwise, nada and sixteen years of Republican Congresses, eight years of Bush.

Elections are judgments on incumbents either to keep them or throw the rascals out. Republicans do have a vested interest in President Obama's failure and would profit from it -- no matter how absurd that might seem.”

“We do need a public option and we need it asap - so Obama can win a 2nd term. Bush & McCain said No to the 2008 GI bill- till public outcry made them switch their vote.
Worst thing is Bush / Cheney lied us into Iraq- That is unforgivable.”

“The plight of the Indian muslims compared to what?! The lower strata of Hindus and rural folks all suffer the same plight. The problem is poverty and over-population - exacerbated with some third world politicians at the wheel in India. Don't create a sob story of Indian muslims when one does not exist. All the Indian muslims have to do is to whine to the Congress-I and they get what they want - the Indian Muslim vote bank being what it is! The lower strata of Hindus are vastly ignored.”
