Bill Clinton Must Wonder -- Where's Mine?

Commented Oct 09, 2009 at 14:24:48 in Politics

“Bill would have won a NPP had the lewinsky and Mark Rich scandals not happen.”

2Bfair replied on Oct 10, 2009 at 19:23:40

“or his greedy cashing in on the influence of a former president to become a mega millionaire.

Bill's international philanthropic work provides a tax-deductale cover for shady international business dealings. If "journaists" like Carol Felsenthal were honest and objective, they would REPORT on it, instead of $elling Clinton $pin.”

“Bill Snider asks, "how did everything fall apart so quickly?" This is politics Bill, you go up and you go down. What matters at the end of the day is the difference you make in people's lives. President Obama has a long way to go before any of his initiatives are considered failures, so hold your horse.”

Chironomid replied on Aug 28, 2009 at 11:54:28

“Any time you tackle big issues, there's dissent and conflict and poll numbers go down, everyone's numbers.

Notice how he doesn't mention the fact that GOP numbers have not risen in concert with falling Obama / Dems / Health Care numbers? That's because GOP numbers are in the tank, residing with a lunatic fringe that would support them no matter what.

The only thing Dems have to fear is passing faux reform. As long as its real and the people can see it, they will win huge on this.”

“Your article made some good points Cenk. But citing a Rasmussen "poll" just so you can bash the President? Come on, you're better than that.”

Chazet2 replied on Aug 18, 2009 at 02:21:43

“Tonight Rachel Maddow came close to the truth while interviewing Matt Taibbi. The intent of this administration was never to deliver any real reform, and has been posturing at bipartisanship to dumb down the bill to no real reform, and have the Republicans seem the villains to its base, while seeming the heroes to the Republican base. Everybody wins. The Dem base has a villain it can blame, the Repubs seem like heroes to their base, and the insurance industry gets what it was guaranteed behind closed doors, no real reform.
We are being played by Obama and his crew, folks. Now is the time to let the Dems know that the Progressives and citizens that care about this nation will sink them if they don't start delivering.
Watch and see what happens with other important issues as well. Watch for the same ruse of "bipartisanship" used to undermine the mandate Obama was given last November.”

“Stewart did the polls tonight on the daily show, and speaking of polls, how do we put Frank Luntz out of a job?”

“2010 is the GOPs to lose.”

Niet replied on Aug 18, 2009 at 00:50:08

“Oh good grief, he's not "bashing the president", he's holding his feet to the fire. Which is a journalists job. Too bad more journalists don't have cajones like Cenk. And don't you dare take me for a republican. I voted for Obama and I stand by that vote. I just wish, like many others, that he and the democrats would grow a freaking spine already and get in the fight instead of bending over backwards to appease a bunch of petulant, whiny sore loser republicans.”

oregonbird replied on Aug 18, 2009 at 00:47:06

“Sure, polls are absolute nonsense. But how much are our democratic leaders being paid to lie down and let the republicans eat us? How much were our lives worth?”

Freesia2 replied on Aug 18, 2009 at 00:42:27

“I noted the Rasmussen poll too. Notoriously right wing so it's not a real barometer.

But I think you misread Cenk. I don't think he wrote this to bash Obama. I think he's warning him. I think he's sounding a siren.”

Investing In Veterans

Commented Aug 12, 2009 at 21:16:30 in Politics

“General Shinseki, I appreciate your words and your hard work on behalf of the veterans of this country. Joining the Air Force after high school was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The experience that I obtained enriched both my professional and personal life. I've been out of the Air Force for about a year and half now and I plan to take full advantage of the post-9/11 G.I. bill to obtain my law degree. Again, thank you for your hard work.”

“Great article. But make no mistake, Republicans will come back because Americans voters are inherently stupid. Plus the power will go to the head of Democrats, it always does.”

hollybork replied on Apr 16, 2009 at 15:53:59

“Yes, they are stupid. But just as Americans of necessity have come to accept the need for social welfare programs such as medicare, social security, unemployment, health care for children, public education and aid for the handicapped, they will also come to accept national healthcare, limits upon carbon emissions and nationally funded higher education. That is why the sooner we get these things, the better it will be.”

Hemmingplay replied on Apr 16, 2009 at 12:00:42

“It will. It always does. It did the GOP in, as it had done a previous generation of Democrats in.

Stepping back from my partisan instincts for a second, wasn't this the whole point of the Founder's efforts to prevent tyranny by setting up a form of government in which different branches checked the power of the other two, and that if all three were corrupted, there were mechanisms to let the people change things through the ballot box?

The corruption part happened with the GOP in charge, and the river of corrupt cash that fuels our lobbyiest form of government. And rigged voting machines almost took the voters out of the picture.

It was a near thing. I'm happy the Democrats won, and that we've elected, with much help from Independents, it should be noted, and not as much from the far Left wing of the party-- a man as president who has the character and smarts to steer things back to a vision that the Founders would have recognized.

It's how it's supposed to work, whichever party is in temporary control.”
