“OK fair point. As a married man I've learned never when trying to make a point to say words like "All" or "Always". Allow me to qualify my comments by saying most of the ones I've seen or heard from. Even the Daily Show did a great piece on how indecisive and unsure they are even when the choices are polar opposites. Politicians seek the independent votes like a dance from the prettiest girl at the prom because they know you're a wild card.
One question: do you subscribe to Lou "Mr. Independent" Doubs brand of independence or Ralph Naider or other brand of independence?”

“That's a very cynical and simplistic accessment of liberals. It also happens to be utterly false. We are not group thinkers like the Tea Party crowd. If what you're saying is true then there will not be all this push back on the president and Democrats in Congress, and their approval ratings will be off the charts. But because they're squandering a golden opportunity to pass meaningful legislation by unnecessarily cutting deals with the devils not only are they getting an earful but they'll be reminded come November.”

“It's not how/if you "push back". It's how you VOTE.
And you will stomp your feet, and then vote Democratic Party.
The most 'independent' action any of you might take, would be to stay home. You surely won't vote anything but Dem--that much is clear.
IF the NY23 taught you anything, it's that how ever much you might disdain the TeaParty crowd, they will lose before they will compromise.”

“I agree that it'll never happen. Our elected officials buckle under the weight of the health insurance industry alone. Campaign finance/lobby reform will bring to bear the force of not just them but every special interest with an agenda to sell. As for a viable third party, there is no demand for it. America for the most part is made up of three separate groups: Democrats, Republicans, and a loose federation of self-aggrandizing indecisive uninformed independents.”
Steamboater replied on Dec 15, 2009 at 15:31:30
“It's really stupid to say that independents are "uninformed"; so many of us are independents because we ARE informed and know very well that the two major parties care more about themsevves and the retention of their power than protecting this country from reckless wars, insurance companies gone wild and out of control and wasteful spending.”
EqualMeansEqual replied on Dec 15, 2009 at 15:02:28

“I don't disagree with you. Only I don't know as much about the Federal Reserves as I should. I always wondered who lobbied on behalf of the Federal Reserves being a tight nit secret society that sets our monetary policy, that is who is going to give Ron Paul push back with his proposed legislation to audit them. Based on what you're saying we can look for some resistance from the banks, the same people who don't want reform on Wall Street or any other firm that stands to benefit from the casino environment we have up on Wall Street, correct?”
Robert2Parker replied on Dec 14, 2009 at 17:34:44
“At this time there is not any oversight of the Federal Reserve and there are still members of the board that the public is not privileged to know the identities.
There are bankers on the board- but the banks are generally subjects of the Fed, yet intertwined almost to the point of them being one entity. Check out the Glass-Own bill and the two other bills that formed the fed system... the entire enterprise is suspect unless you;re profiting from it.
The bottom line is that federal income tax revenues were created to manage our monetary system. He who controls the money controls the population.
The insurance industry is one of the greatest scams in history. We don't need them- we need online insurance co-op's. Where people are able to live with a system of protection that is a non profit. Insurance firms make money on speculation. The federal government has legislated an atmosphere where the individual has no privacy and set in place rules for the industry to rate you and subject you to statistical possibilities and punish you for accidents or medical conditions. They have turned people into cattle and eliminated the human aspect of healthcare.
joe leviathan is perpetuating the practice of fiscal slavery for his pet industry, insurance graft.”

“Agreed. There's plenty to dispise about this man dealing with the facts alone without drawing Israel or his heritage into this. No need to play connect the dots (other than the ones connecting him to the insurance lobbyists).”
Robert2Parker replied on Dec 14, 2009 at 15:28:23
“The plethora of problems in government can't be fixed by treating the symptoms, you have to take out the cancer, the source if you want to reverse the illness. The illness in every aspect of our culture has to do with money- paper money printed by a select few private citizens. Until the federal reserve system is audited and the secrecy is unveiled, Americans will only be dancing to the jig of the bankers- whether it's the band of insurance companies or any other corporate branch of the financial system that siphons off the public. Playing their 'political' game is futile and sadly comical. The conventions of the past will not pave the way for the future- there needs to be a public intervention on a gargantuan scale to fight the Leviathan.”

“Obama is not a "war president"! George W. "I make decisions with war on my mind” Bush, now THAT'S a war president. Pres. Obama did not start a war and is bent on ending the two we're in. Just because he hasn't withdrawn the troops precipitously (gosh Cheney has tainted that word) doesn't make him a war president, just a smart one. Remember, "We have to be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in."?
I think we should have never gone to Iraq and should have been out a long time ago. As for Afghanistan it's definitely time to fish or cut bait, but you who think that the president's role as commander in chief somehow disqualifies him from being pieceful are woefully naive.”

“I find it ironic and an insult to our intelligence that people who don't want a public option because it is a huge deficit driven "government program" don't mind raiding the treasury to subsidize people so long as it doesn't provide true competition to the insurance company. It reveals that deficit spending is only as bad is it hurts the insurance companies and not the country or the people who are crippled by out of control health care costs. Election day please hurry up!!!”

“the fear-mongering around the 'deficit' and 'debt' is just that -- fear-mongering. only americans would be silly enough to let something as abstract and irrelevant as the 'deficit' and the 'debt' obstruct us from getting what we want. americans do this over and over again -- they will buy into any reason -- any! -- that will keep them from being liberated. pathetic -- and perhaps distinctly american, i'm coming to think.
the republicans -- as history easily shows -- don't care a bit about 'deficits' -- nor do they even believe in them as a problem. it's just rhetorical strategy -- and it seemingly works every time.”

3. how many women they sleep with, and most importantly

We may be in agreement here, but at the end of the day the only thing that has redeeming value is how big your heart and your mind is.”

America Without a Middle Class
Commented Dec 04, 2009 at 07:46:03 in Business
“And so shall it be so long as rank and file Republicans continue to cut off their noses to spite their faces. Remember the bill Republicans passed to make it harder to file for bankruptcy even in the case of catastrophic medical costs? Their constituents allowed them to pass that. Now they're propping up the insurance industry even though it's business model includes fleecing and bankrupting the sick if it means making a profit, blocking reforms meant to benefit the middle class (the poor are on medicaid and the rich obviously aren't affected). If the health care debate is any indication of things to come, they'll allow their representatives to strip the consumer protection agency of any meaningful power, especially if it means denying President Obama the satisfaction of a political victory.
Two books also stand out: "What's the Matter with Kansas" (details how conservative "value voters" vote against their own economic self-interest) and "Free Lunch - How the Wealthiest Americans Enrich Themselves at the Government Expense (and Stick You With the Bill)"
Sadly if America is left without a middle class, it'll be because the middle class did away with itself. While the French revolted against the aristocracy class, only in America do we have a reverse French Revolution where we fight feverishly to keep the rich richer even at our own expense.”

Tiger Woods is worth $92 million because of his golfing skills, the other $900+ million is because of his public image and persona. This is the cost of being a celebrity. If the public made you rich because of your spotless image, what do you expect the public will do when your indiscretions tarnished said image? I don’t know. Maybe I’m just naïve and off base here.”
