“OK fair point. As a married man I've learned never when trying to make a point to say words like "All" or "Always". Allow me to qualify my comments by saying most of the ones I've seen or heard from. Even the Daily Show did a great piece on how indecisive and unsure they are even when the choices are polar opposites. Politicians seek the independent votes like a dance from the prettiest girl at the prom because they know you're a wild card.

One question: do you subscribe to Lou "Mr. Independent" Doubs brand of independence or Ralph Naider or other brand of independence?”

“That's a very cynical and simplistic accessment of liberals. It also happens to be utterly false. We are not group thinkers like the Tea Party crowd. If what you're saying is true then there will not be all this push back on the president and Democrats in Congress, and their approval ratings will be off the charts. But because they're squandering a golden opportunity to pass meaningful legislation by unnecessarily cutting deals with the devils not only are they getting an earful but they'll be reminded come November.”

Campaign finance/lobby reform will bring to bear the force of not just them but every special interest with an agenda to sell. As for a viable third party, there is no demand for it. Reid should put out a bulletin: "If one more politician demands that I compromise an already gutted out bill not only will I deny your request but I will also reinstate the more robust parts of the public option and call for reconciliation in order to pass it with a simple majority. As for Joe Lieberman, meet me at the back of the wood shed. Oh and bring your Homeland Security chairman gavel with you."”

“I'm torn. I was content writing her off as being just plain old nutso. How I have to recalibrate my predispositions to admit that people on Fox "News" really are smart? This may take a while.

Just because he hasn't withdrawn the troops precipitously (gosh Cheney has tainted that word) doesn't make him a war president, just a smart one. I think we should have never gone to Iraq and should have been out a long time ago. As for Afghanistan it's definitely time to fish or cut bait, but you who think that the president's role as commander in chief somehow disqualifies him from being pieceful are woefully naive.”

“I find it ironic and an insult to our intelligence that people who don't want a public option because it is a huge deficit driven "government program" don't mind raiding the treasury to subsidize people so long as it doesn't provide true competition to the insurance company. It reveals that deficit spending is only as bad is it hurts the insurance companies and not the country or the people who are crippled by out of control health care costs. If the health care debate is any indication of things to come, they'll allow their representatives to strip the consumer protection agency of any meaningful power, especially if it means denying President Obama the satisfaction of a political victory.

Two books also stand out: "What's the Matter with Kansas" (details how conservative "value voters" vote against their own economic self-interest) and "Free Lunch - How the Wealthiest Americans Enrich Themselves at the Government Expense (and Stick You With the Bill)"

Sadly if America is left without a middle class, it'll be because the middle class did away with itself. While the French revolted against the aristocracy class, only in America do we have a reverse French Revolution where we fight feverishly to keep the rich richer even at our own expense.”

In that case Alexia has a right to her opinion and if she wants to cast her "vote" for him, whether or not she wants to embrase Tiger Woods the celebrity and his sponsors, that's her business and that does not an idiot make.”

“I agree that there is an immense obsession with celebrities, but I respectfully disagree with your premise that since people don't know him that their curiosity in his life is a sign of an anemic and meaningless life of their own. Tiger Woods is worth $92 million because of his golfing skills, the other $900+ million is because of his public image and persona. This is the cost of being a celebrity. If the public made you rich because of your spotless image, what do you expect the public will do when your indiscretions tarnished said image? I don’t know. Maybe I’m just naïve and off base here.”
