Afghanistan: Obama Drops The Other Shoe
Commented Nov 30, 2009 at 22:19:14 in Politics
“I agree. If the US government desires constant war, than every citizen should be subject to a draft. Maybe war supporters will become less hawkish when they and their children are required to perform military service. We would probably see draft card burning and war protests in the streets.”
Afghanistan: Obama Drops The Other Shoe
Commented Nov 30, 2009 at 22:00:01 in Politics
“During his presidential campaign, Obama promised to send more troops to Afghanistan, to fight the "necessary war". That is one promise that he should break. The American people considered the war necessary in 2001, and they supported it. In 2009, conditions in Afghanistan have changed, and it is no longer worth the fight. George W. Bush totally botched the war, and after eight years, it is too late to start over. The American people no longer support the war. There is a time and a place for everything, but the time for the Afghan War has passed.”

“Congressman Cassidy: it IS the REPUBLICANS who are afraid for the POTUS to speak to their children. There IS an "R" behind the names of the people who don't want for the president to speak to their kids. Republicans are afraid of everything, including their own shadows these days. The "politics of fear" has the rupubs paranoid and shaking in their shoes. Democrats are happy that the POTUS sees the importance of encouraging kids to work hard in school. Republicans are in a very bad place right now.”

Today, I was working on company facilities, beside a street in a subdivision, and a complete stranger walked up to me and said "you know Obama"s a Muslim, don't you"? I lost it for a second. I proceded to set him straight. I am so sick of these people who cannot accept that Barack Obama is the duly elected President of the United States.”

“Liz Cheney is a very "troubled" young woman. In all of her TV appearances, she states that she is troubled by this Obama policy, or that a line in an Obama speech troubles her. I heard James Baker say on CNN yesterday that he applauds Obama"s efforts to re-kindle our friendships in the middle-east. It was refreshing to hear a prominent republican admit that Obama is doing SOMETHING right. Liz and Dick have only condemnation for the President. It's disgusting! They are the two most negative people in the country.”

“Liz and Dick Cheney have mindsets leftover from the cold war. They are paranoid! To their way of thinking, Islam has replaced Communism as our national enemy. They cannot fathom the idea that positive relationships can be forged with Muslim countries. They think that all Muslims are terrorists. They are incredibly closed minded people. The Cheneys even approve of the use of torture by the government of The United States of America! Liz is very well spoken, but her mind is as twisted as her fathers. Barack Obama is right when he asserts that the U.S. should base relations with Muslim countries on mutual respect. Bush-Cheny never even considered such an approach to foreign relations.”
Should the Government Bail Out the Big Three U.S. Automakers? HuffPost Bloggers Weigh In
Commented Nov 22, 2008 at 10:42:07 in Business
“The main argument i"ve heard against allowing GM to go bankrupt is that it would not be able to get the loans and financing it would need to re-tool and re-invent itself. Could that not be where the bailout comes in? GM is broken, and it must be re-structured from the ground up if it is to regain it's status a self-sustaining company. A permanent fix will require a new CEO with a vision for the future of the industry, new union contracts, new product lines, and more streamlining and less duplicity. (no Chevy truck and GMC truck...one or the other) Change must happen. Allow GM to file for bankruptcy; then use the bailout money as the financing needed to re-form, re-tool, and re-organize GM into a more efficient company for the 21st century. If GM gets the bailout without requirements for drastic change, it will continue with business as usual, (which got it into this mess in the first place) and it will be back for another bailout in 5 years.”
Beamreach replied on Dec 04, 2008 at 19:16:55
“Yes! That's the American way! Let them file for bankruptcy - that way they can defeat the unions - you know, those folks that built the middle class. Whatever workers they manage to hang on to will be glad to work for much lower wages - of course their kids won't be able to go to college and they can't afford as much cheap plastic crap from China.
They can also default on all those "legacy costs" - you know the pension and health care benefits of all the retirees- that's the way to treat retired workers -send them to the poorhouse. It's a great deal for almost everyone - oh wait - those vendors that don't get paid off will probably have to file for bankruptcy next. And then all the cleaners, beauty shops, and other businesess that support those communities will have to shutter the doors. Oh well, sh*t rolls downhill. Welcome to the leaner, meaner, more efficient American economy.”

“Years ago, I read that every worker on a Japanese auto assembly line had the authority to stop the line if they found that a problem was occuring with every vehicle. The Japanese wanted for their cars to leave the factory with as few defects as humanly possible. At the same time, the Detroit automakers would allow cars to be shipped and sold with known defects, with the policy of having dealers make the repairs under warranty. These policies resulted in the rise of Toyota, etc. and the fall of GM, etc.”

“Interesting point. An early ballot is not counted until after the election. So, the question becomes, does his ballot become invalid? and is he obligated to inform the election commission about his change of status? I'm generally leery of sending octogenarians to prison--even the really obnoxious ones like Stevens. In this case, I foresee a death by a thousand cuts. This man has no idea what it's like not to be the King of Alaska. He's about to find out, and he's not going to like it. When his son and Don Young get theirs. And the Governor comes home to her grief. Alaska will be set back 40 years, and eighty-something is too late to start over.”

Is Elisabeth Hasselbeck Too Dumb to Be on The View?
Commented Oct 27, 2008 at 14:13:55 in Media
“Elisabeth is a very pretty young woman who wears blinders when it comes to politics. You cannot be considered politically intelligent when you get all of your political views directly from FOX news. Contrary to what Elisabeth believes, FOX is not "fair and balanced." FOX does not report and let you decide. Elisabeth takes her William Ayers rants directly from FOX. If she would read newspapers and watch unbiased TV news broadcasts, she would have a better understanding of the American political scene. I don't think that Elisabeth is stupid; she is just ignorant and naive.”

McCain at Sunset

“John McCain's subordinates are not responsible for the trashy nature of the McCain campaign. JOHN MCCAIN IS! McCain is heading up the Republican presidential ticket. THE BUCK STOPS AT HIM! McCain alone, is responsible for content and character of his campaign. If he feels that the robocalls and Ayers ads are beneath his dignity, than McCain should be tough enough to overrule his campaign staff and not allow them. The problem is that he desparately wants to be President, and he knows that this is his last chance. McCain is behind in the polls, time is running out, and he has become willing to do whatever it takes, including gutter politics, to win the election. McCain doesn't seem care about his dignity, his integrity, or his legacy at this point. He really has sold his soul.”

“Thanks to the "troopergate" investigation in Alaska, we now know that Todd Palin is very much involved in the political activities of his wife, Governor Sarah Palin. Way too much involved! He is allowed to attend official meetings concerning Alaska state business, even though he is not an elected or appointed state official. If Vice President Palin becomes President Palin, Todd Palin, as the country's "first dude," will have substantial political influence on the POTUS. Will he attend cabinet meetings? Will he have a security clearence? Have his activities as a member of the Alaskan Independant Party been properly scrutinized?...Just something to consider before casting a vote for McCain/Palin.”

A Breakthrough Night for Obama
Commented Sep 27, 2008 at 16:49:41 in Politics
“One of the last things that John McCain said in the debate was that he didn't think that Barack Obama had the the experience or the judgement to be President. Based on some of the decisions that McCain has made in the last few years, it's obvious that HE is the candidate who shows poor judgement. For example; Obama was able to praise his running mate, Joe Biden, while McCain never mentioned Sarah Palin. Second thoughts, perhaps?”
