MLB Should Stop Using All-Star Game to Decide World Series Home-field Advantage

MLB Should Stop Using All-Star Game to Decide World Series Home-field Advantage

Commented Nov 1, 2011 at 16:53:05 in Sports

“The Cardinals won the championship because they were better team not because of home field advantage. They also might had the advantage because of postponement and Carpenter pitched in Game 7. They have to beat the two best teams in the National League to get to the World Series. How about the Red Sox in '04? Did they win the World Series against Cardinals because they had the home field advantage? They beat the Angels and made a come back against the Yankees as the wild card and swept the Cardinals in the World Series. I think home field advantage in the World Series should leave as it is. That's what makes the all-star game entertaining and meaningful game.”

“They might very well have won if they didn't have home-field adv, though the H/R split does suggest otherwise. But the real point is about an arbitrary rule, and it has implications well beyond this one series.”
