“Let me be perfectly clear. How many of you liberals are feeling kind of stupid right now. All that hope and change was just around the corner. It must be the only thing to do is attack SP because you all are feeling like idi ots about right now. The pres you voted for just received the Nobel peace prize in pretty much the same week he's had, what? 12-13 months to draft a plan for Afghan, in which he sends in more troops to continue this war? Gitmo closed in 1 yr? Let's see, one lady wasn't going to have to pay her mortgage or for gas anymore.

“I didn't mention you stating one position or the other. I stated Obama claims to have rescued the financial industry when TARP was originally passed under Bush. Perhaps it was truly needed to prevent a total collapse - I don't know.

All I know is that Bush approached Congress about the housing bubble and ensuing crash and Barney Frank, along with multiple other dems, clearly stated that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were on sound footing. Bush TRIED to be proactive but congress stopped him, led by the Dems.

I'm not one that needs to be loved by the other countries and do not believe our policies should be based on that philosophy. I truly believe that every leader in this world recognizes that torture takes place on a regular basis and they would all prefer that it be kept silent. You have to treat evil with evil. Also I recognize that the damage that was done to the American economy , military , prestige, reputation and future did not manifest it's self beginning Tuesday, January 20, 2009

The entire time the country was falling off the cliff Bush ,as you are ,went into total denial , right up until the point he and Paulson said they needed $700Billion.

Everyone feels so American and patriotic to say the gov't can solve the problem. The gov't IS the one mandating that these banks make all these risky loans. The Fed loans money to the banks. These loans and the interest rates charged are based somewhat on how many loans to low income people and businesses the banks make. Commented Dec 06, 2009 at 20:39:34 in Politics

“Health care really needs to be treated like car insurance. Auto insurance doesn't pay for maintenance and routine care. We pay for our oil changes and to replace the tires. The problem with $20 copays is that it allows people to flood into Dr.'s offices when they get the sniffles. All the doc typically does is put them on anantibiotic which they shouldn't be taking in the first place.

I"m still amazed at how any lib can believe anyone in gov't who says HCR is deficit neutral. But then again, they voted for hope and change versus someone with substance.”

“What an ignorant, simplistic, uninformed posting.

Auto insurance rates discriminate against people with poor credit. What your credit rating has to do with what type of driver you are is justified by the theory that people with poor credit have little money to properly maintain their vehicles, and therefore are more likely to be in a collision.

There are no studies (other than industry funded studies) to support this claim.

Your rates should be based on your record.

I will say there one very strong similarity between health insurance and auto insurance, they love collecting premiums, but the first time you need them, they look for ways not to pay out, then either raise your premiums so much you can't afford to keep them, or they just don't offer you renewal.”

Carolab replied on Dec 06, 2009 at 21:01:38

“We had the earliest snow fall ever in Houston today. Since that's not a good indicator of global warming, let's call it "climate change". Of course, since we have only been keeping records for the last hundred and fifty years or so, we really don't know when the earliest snow fall was. It could have snowed here when this area was under water. But due to global warming, we are now above water. Really not sure how many hundreds of thousands of years ago that was.

Does anyone know who the emperor is that has established what the "normal" temperature of earth should be? We're basing our science on what fits our needs and not what is necessarily the best for earth.”

By putting BILLIONS of tons of CO2 per year into the air, we are overwhelming the Earths recycling mechanism (trees, oceans). Science has proven that this overabundance of carbon dioxide is NOT best for the earth, (trees do not have any significant growth gains with higher levels) even though the system by which it gets there makes life easier for humans at this point in time. So your last point is wrong, the science is plain, our conclusions are fitted to the needs of the earth and therein ourselves.”

“Climate is not the same thing as weather. Climate is the statistical average of weather patterns in a region over a course of many years.

I don't know how you figure Houston currently being above water would be a result of global warming. On the contrary, it was likely during a previous warm period many thousands of years ago that it was below water in the first place. That would have been before the most recent ice age, which we only came out of a mere 10,000 years ago. If current global warming accelerates enough, Houston and many other coastal communities could look at being under water AGAIN in the not-too-distant future.

The idea that there's a "normal" temperature for the earth is a fallacy. But the idea that we can keep spewing billions of tons of excess gases into the atmosphere every day without worrying ourselves about the impact is a foo|'s paradise.”
