David Brooks on Palin: A Profile in Cowardice

Commented Nov 16, 2009 at 15:33:12 in Media

“Ah, another food fight. I will bring the popcorn..............................

David Brooks jealous of Palin? In your dreams. David Brooks is a centrist, Palin is well, ah, let's just say she is related to Pinocchio. Whose nose is growing and growing and growing? (*(*-*)”

“Brooks is a centrist only in Republican Newspeak. He'll be a Communist by the end of the week.”

“The images of this video will stay with me forever just as the Time Magazine cover back in the 1970's that showed the faces of all of our brave soldiers who died in Vietnam in just one week. I believe the number was 125. I lost a number of friends during that conflict and was able to find their names on the Wall in DC and trace their names with my fingers.

Those faces haunt me to this day.”

“WTF.............my FAVORITE word is" nuclur", the two rather than three syllable word that Bush the w0rst used all of the time. Talk about an obnoxiously (in) articulate person. No one could do it better than W (*-*)”

marquitin replied on Oct 15, 2009 at 14:06:31

“Some people just have too much time on their hands to think of addressing a subject like this one especially when the jobless rate is high, people cannot get health care, foreclosures are at all time high, and consumer confidence is just beginning to rebound.

Only in America.........................(sadly) would anyone think that Obama is obnoxiously articulate.”

I have tons of opinions but would never suggest that Joe Biden step down. This is still the silly season. I know that it is not April 1.....................or is it................................?”

Way to go, AZ ladies. It is time to react to attitudes like these and have them qualify for Keith's hall of shame, the w0rst person in the world.”

“Joe, thank you for what you wrote. I remember seeing Scarborough Country come on and I could not watch more than the intro. Then something happened. You started to question the war in Iraq and changed your program.

I cannot watch most of Morning Joe but sometimes there is this glimmer of hope and bipartisanship. Sometimes fairness wins and sometimes a person becomes a bigger person for seeing good when it should be recognized.

If you do not try you cannot win. Obama tried and should at least get some kudos for that.”

“Can't we give Obama a chance? These poison comments about Clinton, Summers etc, gosh it is a HUGE task to fill all of the appts and to try to keep everyone happy.

I too, worked hard to get Obama elected but that does not mean that I have some sort of hold on him to appt people that only I am happy with.

Sure, hold his feet to the fire on campaign promises BUT CUT HIM SOME SLACK. Obama et al ran a brllliant campaign, let him try to run a brilliant White House. Don't some of you have better things to do than harp about appts?”

jrcjr replied on Dec 08, 2008 at 09:33:38

“I, for one, hope Bush will be the last “base” president we have for a long time. While I think my views are probably more liberal than Obama’s appear to be, he seems to understand one of the key lessons of Bush: Ideology is not a solution, but should only serve as a lens for finding one.

After two decades the right wing proposing the exact same ideological solutions for every diverse problem that came down the pike (surplus? tax cuts for the wealthy! deficit? tax cuts for the wealthy!), my first inclination was to simply replace their ideology with mine, expecting that better results would follow.

However, I believe Obama is correct here; the right thing to do is to focus on solutions first. While I have little doubt that progressive ideas will greatly inform his solutions, starting with liberal ideology first only serves to alienate moderates.

Focusing on defining the problem and finding solutions can allow Obama to marginalize the dead-end ideological debates, while actually improving the union and moving the debate in a progressive direction.”

janfin replied on Dec 08, 2008 at 09:23:39

“I totally agree. I am a "liberal, progressive", whatever you want to call me. I have 100% faith in Obama and trust he will produce the changes he promised. On the other hand, some of the promises me made may be unrealistic now, given the economic crises that has happened since he campaigned. In any event I do believe that he will do all that he can to make all of our lives better, and I think he is picking a team with experience and knowledge. There may be a good deal of knowledgeable people here, but do any of them honestly think they know better? If they do they have some egos. We all trusted Obama enough to vote for him--let's have faith he will do right by us.”

Funny, Wolfson, Fox News. Lanny Davis, Fox News, Mark Penn hired Karen Hughes. Hmmmm, all Republicans and Fox News the official voice of W. And they are Democrates? Hillary campaigned like a Repubican. Is there a connection here?!”

“You are not paranoid, the Republicans are out to get you. However, most of the rest is fantacy. Clinton's early campaign was a mess. Coincidentally, Obama hired that campaign manager after Clinton had to fire her. See any connection there?

Obama is a grafter from Chicago, reinvented by David Axelrod to be the empty suit puppet candidate for George Soros. Lots of money for a Great Campaign for a Fraud.”
