“i mentioned what you raise about the father reporting him and lauded him for this, but i am speaking to what appears to be a feeling of loneliness and almost abandonment that the writing suggests, and which i dont know if the family picked up on or ere to busy to notice till it got too bad. i attended a high school that had a boarding house as a day student back in the 70s and i remember some of the borders, especially the 11, 12 year olds having a really hard time and feeling abandoned by thier families etc. some could hardly stop crying for days when they first get in. in a few cases parents got enough feedback to prompt them to remove a student from the boarding house, and there was usually improvement, almost instantly in the students overall well being and performance. my point is i wonder if this boy would noy have fared better under direct parental supervision, since the family seem decent enough.”

“well he got into the scure area before he got to Amsterdam, so trying to blame them is not on point. if you have ever changed planes once you are "secured" as long as you remain in that area(s) you are not re-checked. now it may be different, think about a late flight with a connection you need to make and when you finally get off the plane you have less then 30 minutes (I have done it a few times in O'Hare and hartfield-jackson) and trying to get through a long security line now...”
