Chris Matthews Criticizes Obama Using Cheney's "Dithering" Remark (VIDEO)

Commented Nov 22, 2009 at 10:51:36 in Politics

“Only every now and then will Matthews give a good hardball session on his show. I saw this show and I think that many times he fails in his attempt to ask "hardball" questions. He seems to "love the one he's with" as far as guests are concerned. Thru most of his interviews, when he decides to get tough, he'll throw a half dozen quick questions going on and on and on, never giving the other person a chance to answer. Or, he'll ask, "yes or no" so quickly and bluntly as though he's anxious to get thru the interview.

One of the most trivial, yet absolutely annoying trait about Matthew is his insistence on calling Dick Cheney, Dick CHEENIE. He claims that's the correct pronunciation, and maybe it is, but by golly, all these years everybody calls him Cheney and as far as I'm concerned, Cheney it is. Anyway, I roll my eyes every time he says the name qualifying his incorrect pronuncaition with a "that's how it's pronounced" comment. He's so superior you know. I swear he just loves to hear himself talk.”

“What a nice story. I've seen this guy on MSN this morning and after hearing his story and how he met the President, I think we get a confirmation that this President does "think" things over and he "is" genuinely concerned. The fact that he went to this particular area of the cemetery, taking a chance as to what could occur, says to me that he wants to hear from people; he wants to help and he wants to make the right decision. I say bravo. Give the President all the time he wants to decide the next course of action. I think this incident is encouraging that he does have America's best interest at heart.

This along with the story that he wants to have an "exit" strategy in Afghanistan is very good news to me.”

“I must say, up until recently I was for sending more troops to Afghanistan. That's where Al Queda is (or was?) and that's who attacked us, not Iraq contrary to the last administrations lie. Now however, I have changed my mind. I am all for getting out. I give Obama credit for thinking this out and am very pleased to see he rejected all and from what I understand wants a plan with an "exit" strategy. Gee, what a concept totally foreign to the last President.

Anyway, if there is an end in sight or a goal for leaving that will be encouraging. I think he's on the right track. He always said that "HE" sets the mission and the boots on the ground will set the strategy. If you were to go only by the military, their goal would be only to win and to fight. That's what they are trained to do. I see nothing wrong with, if it's hopeless, and yes if we are losing, get the hell out. It's good to talk to others beside just the military.”

“No, it was Bush who started the wars and began to sink the economy and yes, while the people voted Dem for a "change", the media Never held Bush's feet to the fire like they do with Obama. You can twist and turn and transfer the blame but it doesn't change the fact the KING BUSH was the leader when our country went to wars and it was HE that is responsible for the disrespect and dislike he earned from every other country in the world. It was NOT Obama. Good God, need I go into every possible crime that this guy and his cohorts should have been at minimum questioned about? While I do wish the Dems would grow a spine, I do not blame them for most of the lack of judgment and intelligence displayed by the previous administration. He spent eight years F-ing the country up not giving a flip about the consequences cause he knew he could leave all to the next President. The absolute worse President in my lifetime, if not ever.”

Eidolas replied on Nov 11, 2009 at 13:40:52

“I suppose if you ignore the Democratic support for both wars and lack of oversight on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae (among other things) you can make that claim, but it is disingenuous at best or naive. It doesn't mean the Bush administration or Republicans don't bear responsibility - It means BOTH parties bear responsibilities. And please don't use the "we were lied to" excuse - As an elected representative, if you are not doing your own homework or making your own inquiries, you get whatever comes.

As for the media holding a politician's feet to the fire, that is subjective and depends what source you cite. There isn't "one" media out there, after all and both the Left and the Right seem to think "the media" is unfair.”

So what's gallup trying to do? Is this a biased wishful thinking on Gallup's part. THIS party and This media is trying to bring our President down in any way they possibly can.

What a shame that they didn't hold the last administration accountable for the mess left instead of coddling him like the infantile immature baby he is.”

What a shame WHO didn't hold the last administration accountable? I thought the 2008 election was a mandate on the Republican party? Trouble is, the Democrats were knee deep in creating the mess too, which is why after a certain amount of time, independents and swing voters vote the other way for "change", only to wind up with more of the same. In the meantime, partisans continue to engage in infantile and immature name calling.”

“I hope Obama does take his time with this decision. I do think the situation has changed since the election and DON'T want another enless war in Afghanistan. While it's good to listen to the military's advice, we must keep in mind that they are focused on "winning", trained for war and will ALWAYS want more troops. IMHO winning is not the issue if it's an endless number of years with no possible chance of a "win."

Obama has said he decides the mission and tells the military what the mission is. I hope this is the case and am getting serious doubts about staying. I WAS for it a year ago, but I really think now we need to leave or we'll have another Viet Nam. I pray Obama does the right thing. Poor guy has so much on his plate, I don't blame him for taking his time, as he should. I really don't know the answers but pray whatever his decision, it's the right one (if there is a truly right one)”

“I don't think Obama is such a "poor guy". I think he's a surfer dude subject to the same corrupt forces that govern most of our politicans in Washington unless they're in the fringe minority regarded with mild humor. Obama is very wealthy, he is now president, his children go to the finest schools in Washington D.C. where military recruiters are forbidden from sitting in hallways. The entire family looks rested and entirely at ease. They vacation in Hawaii in an expensive home. They recently adopted a dog and are able to pay for the dog's medical expenses and food, on top of their own. The White House chef challenges their daily gym work-outs with pies and meals they never cook for themselves. Prayers are useless, anyway, since this is about the military industrial complex that rules Washington D.C. just as it rules health care in America. And, we live in a world of CAUSE AND EFFECT, not miracles.”

But isn't it a good thing for American? My God, to hear some people talk, you'd think Obama is to blame for being given this award.

What many (mostly on he right) will never understand is the degree to which he impresssed foreign countries and how effective his message of hope is AND the fact that he's willing to reach out to other countries unlike the former President (village idiot tht he is). I think this is a very very welcome change for other countires and whether or not that's reason he received the award, be happy America, look how good it is for our country. He was great too with Annabella Schirroa (sp??). I'm not a Jeff Goldblum hater, but I simply can't see him in this role. Can't put my finger on exactly why, but he's too 'out there' or something.
