They blow up and sound like that. It's also a handy way to know how far a tornado or high wind event is away from you. You see a flash of blue light and then you count until you hear the boom. Every 5 seconds is about a mile. And you can hear those transformers popping miles and miles away. They are pretty loud.”
“As opposed to the right which spends WELL beyond it's limits? Oh how quickly we forget the last decade.”

“Tell me....... why does the left insist on always playing the blame game and never seek a solution. I blame both sides for the problems, but the more important issue is solving them. We currently waste over a billion dollars a DAY on the interest on our national debt. Ever think about that looming crisis ?”
flyboy one on Oct 2, 2013 at 18:51:27
“And just who has borrowed and borrowed us into a trillion dollar debt? China owns more of America than Americans do.”
GeorgiaModerate on Oct 2, 2013 at 18:42:47
“Pssst, you're not supposed to bring up the last decade. They're still revising the history.”
“I don't believe the act of making something illegal will stop the actions that are taking place. If making something illegal stopped crimes then there would be no speeding tickets issued, there would be no drug arrests, and there would be no crime. Also stopping the sales does little. Stopping the sales of cars doesn't halt the illegal speeding. Stopping the sales of lighters doesn't stop illegal drug use. I fail to see how stopping the sales of guns will stop all gun crimes. I also fail to see how making guns, or certain guns, illegal will stop the use of the guns already there. Guns, if taken care of, last hundreds of years.
In my opinion stopping gun crimes involves changing a violent culture. It's not one thing. It's all things. Changing what is acceptable to watch, for example, is a tough row to hoe. You can show 20 shoot-outs on a TV show and it's acceptable family entertainment. There can be 200 shootings on a movie and people let their kids watch. That needs to change. Video games, toy gun sales, music, etc.... all needs to reflect a less violent culture.
Laws do nothing if there isn't a cultural change. All it does is make more outlaws.”
“Billions? Really? I thought it was widely known that those numbers were made up. No one really knows how much piracy costs because there is no way to account for the loss because it is unknown.”
Mike Vids on Feb 26, 2013 at 00:07:06
“If a billion people worldwide use the internet and each of them downloaded or streams two songs or films illegally... then that would equal billions in losses. I don't think you need a CPA or a forensic accountant to come up with those numbers.”
How is that a privacy violation again if the doctor didn't name anyone?”
danawhitaker on May 2, 2013 at 11:17:55
“I'm a bit late to the party here, but here's why I consider it a privacy violation. Just because a name wasn't used doesn't mean that something in that information wouldn't make it identifiable to *someone* reading it on Facebook. Imagine you have a friend or family member or coworker who knows that's your doctor. And now imagine that doctor makes a comment on Facebook, and one of those people is either friends with that person on Facebook or it happens to be a public post like this one. Complain at home, complain in the staff break room. Don't complain about someone on social media, period, because you never know who might know that person and might be upset when they figure it out.”
QueenSufi on Feb 14, 2013 at 01:12:57
“I would defend anyone who is human and gets frustrated once in a while - we all do.
Where did it say she had it set to public? Someone else took a screen shot of it and posted it - looks like others have shared her status, as well.
We live in an age where saying things like this on Facebook has bitten a lot of people in the hiney. Clearly it's not a smart thing to do. I'm sure she will think twice before posting anything like this again on her Facebook page. Hopefully she finds a healthy way to vent her frustration where she can learn from it and not offend people, like she has here on Facebook.”
deelo on Feb 13, 2013 at 19:26:48
“Did I say that? I said don't complain when immediately after your next appointment your doctor tweets about your ED. No names of course....”
“She gave him a verbal warning to get back. He came at her and cornered her. He put her in a position where she had no other choice. She was even telling him to get back after she hit the guy.
I teach this same thing to my 5 to 10 year old intro karate students. If you feel like you have no choice and you can't get away and the guy is coming at you there is nothing that you can do BUT to hit them to get them away from you.
It's a clear cut case. She told the kid to get away and HE made the move to her. Had he have been backing away and she hit him then it would have been different. As it is though, he came at her and got a taste of what happens in the real world.”
“You sure do seem to know a lot about the south. And apparently all the people living in it. You ever stop to think that some people, like myself, that live in Alabama are outright appalled at a political leader using his or her office to try and press a religious agenda?
It must be easier to lump all the people of a region into a little stereotype instead of sitting there and actually thinking that maybe, just maybe, there are all different types of people in a area?
For example, did you know that the city with the greatest PHd's per capita and PHd's per square mile is Huntsville Alabama? Huntsville was called the Silicon Valley of the South.
Maybe the next time you want to lump a whole geographic region together.
Also, just so you know, the level of people without health insurance is actually higher in the north east. Turns out there are a whole lot more people living there than here in the south.....”
“I have a friend that has a great video of a homeless man who is obviously in about the same mental status as this lady is. If I upload it to the HuffyPo do you think they can make his mental illness news too?”

“I say make them filibuster. Make them stand up and block the senate. Let's see how long they can do it for. Then every American will see just who opposes health care reform and why.
IMO, a republican filibuster would mark the end of the republican party as we know it. I bet that they know that as well and won't filibuster anything. The threat is only that. A threat......”

“That's what Republicans thought about Clinton's threat to shut down the gov't. In politics, playing chicken is VERY dangerous. Although Clinton won that battle Democrats lost every battle since then until 2006. I for one am not willing to go to the polls with a super-majority and no big policy laws to show for it. The ONLY thing the Republicans will have to say is "The Democrats can't govern. See! They even had 60seats and they still couldn't get this done!" They'll say it over and over "Democrats can't govern" and they won't be far off from the truth. We will have squandered our moment.
You want to risk another decade in the wilderness? I don't.
Obama needs to start getting dirty. This isn't some small interest groups pet project. This is where political capital MUST be spent. At least Clinton was willing to fight.”

“"doctors who administer and profit from these shots? "
I'd think that the doctors would make more from treating the sick kids rather than giving a $10 shot.”

Is that really that hard to wrap your head around?”

“That's impressive how you so gracefully mis-quoted RaisingAwareness to make their comment seem silly.
I think it's fair to say the bigger emphasis was on the drug companies.”

“Not if the shot guarantees he will get sick. That is a good investment for 2 minutes per patient, don't you think? $10 per 2 minutes, $300 per hour, not a bad return and probably better paid than just pushing the pen to write prescriptions on which the return is a lot less.”
