“Finally I have quotes I can throw out to many, in my family, fans of reality television. I have never been able to stomach the genre. Either it's too cruel, ugly, or embarrising or the attempt to be that is too scripted to be reality. Reality was Jon and Kate, it didn't take much to see the disaster in the making. Couldn't continue.”

“This old white female democrat (today) agrees with you.
I believe her appeal is similar to that of those who slow down to watch a car wreck.
Her books appeal is the same as the success of the gossip column.
I've seen too many politicians who charm the pants off the public as they work the camera.
Your comment about Obama underperforming is, for me, a too soon to say. I perfectly undestant the need to rachet down those issues that will further fracture support when trying to push through the most important and needed bill in 50 years.”

“No doubt you only watch a segment of Olbermann and Maddow. I too abhor the Sarah stuff but you are wrong as to them not covering the other issues of the day.
A concentrated effort to get over the hump, Sarah stuff, and listen to the balance of the programs.
I do admit Matthews seems to have less content: he usually does though.”

Try reading stuff that shows we are not dealing with an overwhelming majority of the world's scientists.
That seems to be the trouble, the huge amount of, other than scientists, who are making hay for themselves with this.
I don't know whats what yet, but I do know I shall continue researching before I jump on the bandwagon.”

“In with you in theory, but have your considered what would happen if we successfully eliminated all the illegal immigrants? Like it or not this country's wheels are greased with the all these people. From restatuants, car washes, food production, (in all it's phases) and so on. These people wouldn't be here if there wasn't a market for them. And if going after all those who hire them was an answer we could manage with, you bet that this would be done. Now whether it's greed and avarice on the one hand or simply the survival of these businesses or a combination or both, these are the problems that need answering before we can close our borders.
Since I'm sure many have noted what I'm saying and yet they persist with the 'illegal tag' as the the big issue, I have to believe much of this rhetoric is due to xenophobia or maybe the color of these illegals.”

They run to be first with whatever that the old business of reporting the true news is lost. I have taken to accepting nothing that is reported until at least the next day. Looks like now it takes even longer for one of the print reporters to manage to get the facts. What a sad thing that TV and the Blog has so reduced the clarity of the news. What's even worst is that most of us only hear the beginning of what's said and never the middle or the end.”

“Bravo! Now I see why you have 101 fans.
Add to this that business of "being one year in office", is in error. Course it works for those who want to imply he is not succeeding. January 20th makes it one year.
Must remember thse pundits do have to have someting to get your attention. Nothing like the negatives to do that. It works especially well since most often we don't remember how wrong they were initially. I'm reminded of all those who range the death knell when the candidate Obama wasn't being aggresive enough. Wish I had listed all their names; it would have helped me negate much of what they say now.”

“Sorry kiddo, when I reached my seventies I decided that telling it the way I see it was going to be the norm. Whatever the response from your ilk I've had enough experience to know the problems with crutches that go too far. And since you don't know how I use my advice - don't go there.
As to my 'conjecture', since it's not based on morality nor personal feelings but on circumstances presented to the mind I'll not except your analysis.
As in many things extremes tend to blind us - and in that state we are apt to miss much of the good life.”

People use substances to make themselves feel better! I am sure you have a few of ypour own "crutches" when dealing with stress or anxiety insomnia or fatigue. or just getting through the day! Maybe once icannabis is legal, you can use your advise to help real substance abusers. I'm pretty sure cannabis users won't be filling the rooms of treatment centers anymore.... I'm just trying to be "uplifting"!”

“So is a drink or two or three but in both cases needing them to manage the social scene at all is a dependency that would be good to eliminate. Getting a life is one of the ways to manage it. There are all kinds of crutches we use, and no one should say that they aren't good to have sometimes. Bottom line, there are those that hurt the physical and then the ones that harm the mental and emotional. Personally - I often tell anyone who is smoking to make sure they take a daily vitamin. We should all know smoking uses up to much of the good stuff we injest. If feasible, I would advise those who are in a constant fog from alcohol or pot that they would do better to work at reality instead of running away from it.”

Why I'm Optimistic About Maine

“Me, I'll go along with this thinking when my church fights the good fight against, divorce, contraception, abortion for no one, infedelity and premarital sex. Throw in abolishing the death penalty and mandate tithing for all. Since these are tenets of my faith, some of them with the onus of mortal sin, I think they should be fought for or against first.
These "sins" are committed by a larger percentage of the public then same sex marriage ever effects; and most of them have a tremendously greater effect on family and values.”

“As happens often the left, along with the right, often goes farther than I can agree with. Love this site, get 70 percent of my news here but Ms. Huffington is not always those I listen too.
While I do agree those who did not want to go to war in Iraq would have garnered my admiration if they had quit in protest. Yes I do find those after the fact announcements a little sleezy. I will though hold my complete condemnation until I stand in their shoes.
As to a member of the team not aggreeing with the President as to the strategy involved when we are in a war quitting, heck no. This is a case, Afghanistan, where most of us approved of and in which we had international backing, I do not see this as fitting into Ms. Huffington's scenario. I see this as wanting a particular outcome and making a comparison that works in this climate.”

“I wish that were so dadd, but profit and your investors are the bottom line. That doesn't go hand in hand with using your deep pockets to support a dying program. You have the advertisers which bring in the money because you have the audience and voila you get rich.
If they end up with a massive audience but no advertisers there is no cash. The audience would have to begin paying for the privilege. Don't see that happening.
And, it seems that the audience bombarding the advertizers to quit the prograM must be larger than the viewers. I'm sure those companies would not be quitting otherwise.”
