“You are such a child. A garbage man used to be able to support a family of four if he worked 40 hours a week - and now if he works for a City he still might be able too because he wouldn't be making Minimum Wage any longer. Why do you think "minimum wage" evolved? It was to keep people from having to go on Government dole programs. It is adjusted for inflation over the years. My first job was selling balloons at Disney for $1.72 an hour. THAT was minimum wage. Now these companies are not giving 40 hour work weeks so they won't have to give any benefits the Government demands of them. I have gone on an been educated, but your opening statement is childish and you are lucky you are white, educated and not from another country, trying to come live the American Dream while learning the language, grabbing ANY job you can and living 3 families to a home until you get on your feet. Those are the good family people be trampled on. And by the way, how many languages are you fluent in? Most minimum wagers in Florida can speak three. So the big companies are raking-it-in but 1/3 of the populous are in shambles. Yeah, good plan.”

“Luck has nothing to do with my success. I have been a single mother my whole life and not once did I think working at a fast food place would "cut" it for supporting my daughter. I got no help from my family, but I started from the bottom as a receptionist. Little by little, I acquired accounting experience, until years later, I was hired as a bookkeeper. BTW, after working my ass off for almost 10 years as a bookkeeper (working 60+ hrs/week), I was still barely making $15/hr. But you are saying that a fast food worker should make the same? Finally, after more than 17 years, I'm a freelance accountant making six figures. I did that without any schooling and without any help from the government or family. What I said wasn't childish, but makes perfect sense. Don't expect some company to care if you can support your family or not. That is completely up to you and don't discount people because of the color of their skin. ANYONE has the potential to do what I did. ANYONE.”
“Dis is not a Rep./Dem. problem, honey this is an ethical problem. Don't put every problem on one side of the government or the other; that is why things don't get changed for the better. Agree to do what is best, not what is best for YOUR party, or what they TELL you what to think. Free your mind, baby.”

“Boycott Disney while you are at it. Sea World, Disney, etc.... have all their employees as ''seasonal'' and give them just enough hours they don't have to give ANY Health Insurance, pensions, etc.... Disney is KNOWN for firing someone after 22 years so the employee won't be able to work the required 25 for retirement benefits. All the while they are building, building, building......New rides, New hotels..................Mr. Walt Disney must literally be spinning in his grave - this was NOT his vision.
I see people's cars proudly displaying their Annual Disney Pass,............... tewwy, I spit on the ground.
. People need to smarten up, it is ususally the lower-income eating at McDonalds as they watch the employees suffer. How about stop eating there. I shall. Their food is killing middle America anyway.
Both McDonalds and Walt Disney World are self-insured companies. It takes so much money in perpetuity to be able to be self-insured. Someone dies in a Disney pool, they get paid off by Disney, not an Insurance Company - that is HOW much money these companies have. My first job was at Disney selling balloons, I won't go back seeing how they use all of the poor, immigrant hard working people that work there now, give them not enough pay-nor hours, then these poor souls have to work two and three jobs. Let the CEO's of McDonalds and Disney not have your dollars for six months - see if something will change.”
“One hot, hot day I watched a young mom pull up in the parking lot with a baby in a little truck without air-conditioning. She was so sweet to the baby and was going in the second -hand store to buy stuff. In all that heat and with a baby she handled herself beautifully - sweetly speaking to the child, etc. I left her a little note saying such with $20 and told her to buy herself or the baby something special.”
“animal attacks me..........I shoot it..............what is YOUR problem. If your dog attacks me, I will shoot it or stab it with a stick, etc.................are you going to let the next person whom steps on his lot be killed. Should he let the bear hang-out on his homesite and kill his child or dog? Yay Humans........that is what we can do at the top of the Food Chain, sweety. If a fox tries to kill my chickens, I will stop it. You must do lots of shopping at the grocery and have no clue what it takes to live outside of a city.”
Dolly Knight Hughes on Oct 15, 2013 at 19:25:07
“I am not your "sweety". Do NOT ASSUME you know me. Period.
Did what I say hit your sore spot? Yep...sounds like it.
Take your condescending attitude and terms of "endearment" elsewhere. I have an opinion you don't like...so what. I am entitled to it, just like you are.”

You might want to consider being a little less "industrial" in your view of life.
Try more to see beauty instead of functionality.
“Actually, they do work and keep full schedules. Believe it or not Paris Hilton has more money than Princess Diana reportedly got for her divorce (lousy 25 million) and has better homes and more freedom. For a Royal, one wrong foot and the public will turn on you.”

“Dude, it is called planning ahead. WHY does everyone want NEW and NOW. People by on Credit. Legal loan-sharking. NEVER by anything on credit and you will be fine for life. I know a couple who never purchased new cars, the mom shopped at garage sales for clothes, they didn't eat out except on special occassions. But in 15 years there house was paid for, the kids looked well dressed, well fed and their mom was home with them and not working. They owed NOTHING to NO ONE. They had a nest-egg for emergencies. They had the smallest house in the BEST neighborhood they could afford and lived on a truck-drivers salary. It is called home-economics. They are, to me, the living proof of exceptionalism.”

“Lovely people, the Andersons. Jim worked and never looked tired, Margaret did all the cooking and cleaning and never complained, and Betty and Bud and Kathy were just the most wonderfullest kids EVER.
It couldn't have been easy though. Based on your claim that they never bought anything on credit and that they paid for their house over a 15-year period, I have to assume that they bought their house one piece at a time -- 1/15th of the house each year for 15 years. How did that work exactly? How did they all manage to cram themselves into 1/15th of a house for a whole year, and then 2/15th the following year? Where did they find a seller willing to sell on those terms?

“I love Chaka, too. Her CD is in my car. I agree Zimmerman should have gone to jail for trailing down, getting in a fist-fight, then drawing a gun and shooting Trayvon. Zimmerman would have NEVER gotten out of the car without his gun. Big p&ssy who has never been in a regular fist-fight. PLEASE do not think all Floridians think like this jury did. I was in total shock they let this guy walk. The women on that jury were brow-beaten into using the "law" instead of their God-given common sense. I believe there was one loud-mouth bully that ran shot-gun over the other jurors. But, most of us in Florida DISAGREE and we don't want people like Chaka avoiding us. They didn't use the "stand your ground" law in the case - since they decided a 17 year old boy was a danger to a 30+ year old man, chasing him, with a gun..”
Lucille on Jul 27, 2013 at 16:36:58
“It's good to know to see the injustice of this verdict, however, Chaka Kahn, Stevie Wonder and other celebrities need to boycott Florida not only for Trayvon Martin's honor, but for all of us and the safety of their families too.”
Jul 27, 2013 at 11:57:42
“Chaka is still a very viable musician. Actually, a musician's musician. She tours most of the year in very specialized venues.
I live in FL and do not support the decision to boycott. The "stand your ground" was never used in the zimmerman case. Zimmerman was a fat fool who shot a just 17 year old child and never called out to him to "stop" or answer questions from the "homeowners watch". He would have NEVER gotten out of his truck unless he was packing. It was a travesty that most Floridians completely agree was unjust.”
