“Hope this is true. It will open the door for Obama to get someone more progressive in the WH...that is, if he wants to.”

WaveringLiberal replied on Jan 05, 2010 at 14:09:13

“Do think it is a matter of whether he is truly mainstream, or really a Progressive, or does he any actual opinion or personality of his own at all. I really think he's a black guy with a great education, excellent speaking skills and absolutely no real opinions or philosophies on governing beyond "get elected"”

Both yucky.
Except TW focused on building a public image that was 180 degree opposite of what he was in real life.”

2010 Election Situation Grows More Difficult For Democrats

“The thing collapses?! What collapses? Keeping the ineffective Dems in power? Why? Because they listen to the voters? When? They are owned by the same corporate masters like the GOP.

Backing our President would be easier if there was a single fight he didn't run away from. No, we are not expecting he fight or win every one of them. We all understand politics. He is all soundbites and empty rhetoric. President Obama had huge backing from the electorate for significant health care reform. And what he delivered was a HMO bailout plan. That Senate bill has been MA law for over three years. No public plan. Our cheap plans that cost us 15K/year today for family coverage are projected to cost us 27K/yr by 2016 (this plan will not cover basic tests until you meet your 5K annual deductible - so that cost is actually 32K/yr). The subsidies that help the people who can't pay this is coming out of taxpayer money. 30% of every $ spent on healthcare goes to HMO profits/overhead. Medicare operates on a 3% medical loss ratio. The for profit HMO system just got entrenched with the atrocious Senate bill - which apparently delivers over 95% of what Obama wants in HCR.
Back what exactly? Tried and tested failed HCR?!”

“yeah the thing collapses.
you want another total GOP takeover.

we got our heads handed to us in 2009 becuase we did not stand up to the teabagging loons.

we didn't get into the shouting matches.

we didn't call obama on it when he started backpedaling.

you can rip my idea.

you got a better one?

let's hear it.”

Actually it's Insurance corporate America's dream come true. We pay for everything and they pay for nothing. They risk nothing and get all the benefits, We risk everything and gain nothing.

It's hard to think of a worse solution to our current health care crisis that what the Senate just passed.”

“Go ahead and applaud him. You will soon see what this reform means. We have had that promised land in MA for over three years. Same reform - mandates, no denials for pre-existing condition, state exchange - the works. No public plan. The cheap plans that cost 15K/yr today (this plan will not cover basic diagnostics until you reach the 5K annual deductible) are projected to cost 27K/yr by 2016. President Obama had the unique opportunity to learn from the MA experience, and address cost controls. He squandered it away. And is spinning a bailout of for-profit HMOs as real HCR.”

“HMOs don't ration care today in the USA?!
The only innovation in the for-profit HMO driven health care system is to make money by limiting or denying care and charging ransoms for premiums. Other countries have looked to the US and rejected that "innovation".
Our economy is close to being crippled. Watch for the downturn after this atrocious Senate bill goes through. Mandates with no cost controls. Employers will outsource more jobs.”
