“I was invited to our one friend's youngest daughter's wedding. Then saw her at the hospital when she had her 1st baby who was only a few hours old. Went to Ohio with them as well as Shipshewana, Indiana with them. Didn't say it was vacation. It was actually business when we traveled. His son's actually joke that my husband is like another brother.
How many Amish do you actually know? That you would know for certain that they couldn't or wouldn't be friends with English people?”
“What I jumped to the defense of is the fact that this show is implying that it is a tradition to pull out their teeth for no reason other then to just do that.
They are trying to make the Amish seem barbaric for pulling this girl's teeth for no reason at all. That just does not happen. And I don't just know a couple nice Amish people. Or just one family for that matter. I know many and from several different states.
People are believing that this is just something that happens all the time.
The Amish here go to regular medical doctors all the time. The MD here has a pole outside his office to tie the horse and buggy too. There is no rule that forbids them from going to a dentist or a Dr. There is no rule that says they can't brush or floss either. That's a personal choice to do that or not. Her teeth being pulled wasn't forced on her as a tradition.”
“So if a goose is pretending to be a duck, like this girl is pretending to be Amish for this TV Show, you fall for it hook line and sinker? Wow.”
Brian Case on Oct 1, 2012 at 11:44:59
“nope.. I don't believe her story for one bit.. Just like I don't believe that the Amish just allow outsiders over to eat, or take vacations with them! People may live by them, but that doesn't mean that your'e buddy buddy with them either. ”
“Again like I posted below... This is NOT tradition. They do NOT pull out their teeth. I live near a very large community of Amish. I am friends with them, have even been invited to their weddings in the family. Traveled with them to several different states, to other Amish communities. This doesn't happen. I even live 20 minutes from where the one guy on the show is supposed to have come from.
I will say they don't take care of their teeth like they should. They just don't have a concern about them. If hers were pulled for any reason, that's what it was, that they were all rotten and needed to be taken out. I can tell you that many of them will smile at you and their teeth are black and rotten.
This show is NOT reality!!!”

“What you are saying doesn't really conflict with what this girl is saying. If it is traditional to be unconcerned with oral health and to just let the teeth rot, and if their Amish "dentists" have not been educated at an accredited Dental School and do not have the means to provide dental care other than pulling teeth, then it leaves very little in the way of options for those with rotted teeth. Rotten teeth are not just a cosmetic problem. They can cause extreme pain and create a serious risk for other health consequences.
You may know many wonderful Amish people, and I have known a few also, but it doesn't make sense to jump to their defense on this issue. It is an unwise practice and while they are free to do what they want, don't be surprised if the average person shakes their head at the unnecessary suffering they subject the members of their sect to.”

“Looks like a duck, walks like a duck, sounds like a duck..it's normally a duck. I say B.$ to your post.”
“It isn't tradition. I live near and am friends with several Amish families. NONE of them have had their teeth pulled. I actually live about 20 minutes from where the one guy on the show is supposedly from.
One of the men in the community where I live has complained about the people just not caring about their teeth. They do not brush and do not floss, and when they smile at you, you can tell. I would guess if someone's teeth were pulled, then they were pulled because they were rotten. I have seen girls that young with teeth all black and nasty because they just don't take care of them.
This show is so fake it isn't even funny.”
“Way to go BigbyWolf! This is the point that everyone is missing here. Yes it's sad the animal was killed. And it may have been her error. No one knows for sure, it could have been a malfunction with the door and it wouldn't shut the whole for all any of us know. The article doesn't say for sure that SHE left it open.
BUT the issue is, she could have been alive. The animal wouldn't leave her even after they tried to coax him away. If there was even the SLIGHTEST possibility they could have helped her. Then the lion needed to be shot so they could get to her. Until they verified she was dead, they had to assume she needed aid and had to get it to her as fast as possible. The cops didn't go in guns blazing, the other worker tried to lure him away and it didn't work.”
“Do the stupid test. Really, if it proves he did it for sure, then she can know she put someone to death who deserved it. And if it proves he didn't do it, then she can live the rest of her life with a conscience that is clear in knowing she did the right thing.
There should never be any fear of doing what is right. Either she is proven right and he is given just punishment, or he is proven innocent, released and right was done. I would have more respect for her as a prosecutor if she did the testing to be sure. As of right now, she has no respect from me no matter what her conviction rate is, because I don't trust that it's been done honestly because she seems to not care to learn the truth.”
“Wouldn't bother me at all. I don't find it creepy. If the video shows a person doing a proper embalming, as it seems that's what the article leans to, and the police seem to think that's the case. Then why would it be creepy? Someone was performing a job and nothing more.”

“Nothing more? NOTHING MORE??? Bones buried all over the property and you say "nothing more"? Wow.”
“What a pretty girl she is. And that is really sad thta this happened. But I dont' see how the school should have been responsible for her protection. I think her parents, if they were that concerned, should have done something else. If I thought someone was going to try to kill my kid or do osmething to her, I would not send her to school, I would be making arrangements for her to stay with a family member that the guy didn't know. I would be asking the cops for some recommendations as to what to do to keep her safe.”

“Asking the cops for help?
Good luck with that one.
"Until he stabs someone there's nothing we can do ma'am"”
“So in your world, no one should have hte right to own anything, have any money, or have a sense of social well being? You act as though that's a bad thing and that those thing should not have laws to protect them.
Hitler twisted everything to fit his views. Which is exactly what everyone else does when they say "morality" is based on the social views of the culture at the time they live in. No that's not the case. Morality is not relative, in that what a persons currently feels is acceptable now, is OK. And maybe they didn't feel that way 100 years ago, but that's alright becuase now we feel differently about it, and so it's now "morally" acceptable.. When you try to base your moral values on the current whim of society, then there will be decline. Because that's all that will happen, the rules get relaxed to allow what makes a person feel good be acceptable even if it was not acceptable or frowned upon before.
I have a standard for my morals that does not change. One which I am sure that you do not believe in, because of what you have already posted here.”
“This is one little boy that when he comes out, will be a man who is physically capable of doing far more damage then he was able to do at 12 yrs old. And I for one would never trust that he would not do something like this again. They can't even explain why he did it in teh first place, so how do they intend to "fix" him when they don't even know what the problem is??
He should not be allowed to be in society.”
“There are two different stories on this page... the upper story is about a vet from the British Isles who caught a Tope Shark and was dragged 1/2 mi in his kayak.
The video clip is from a story of a man and his 9yr old son who caught a Black Tip shark off of Galveston, Texas.”
“Webster's Dictionary- Corrupt- to change from good to bad morals. To degrade with unsound principles or moral values.
Here I will use it in a sentence. This adult woman corrupted the underage boy from her school.
Now let's replace the word with the definition and see if that works.
This adult woman degraded this underage boy with unsound principles and moral values.
Yep that works. It's unsound moral values to think it's OK for an adult to do what she did to a child. IT was not used out of context.
And if you read the article HER(the teacher's) family that invited the boy to go with them on camping trip.”

“thus establishing my point, that law makers break their own "moral laws".. Let's get to the facts moral laws or virtues are only there to protect property, and monetary interest, and social well being. If Hitler would have won, he would have imposed the killing of older, sick individuals for the sake of monetary wellfare and stability of the nation but used "morality" to make it seem properly correct. That's society in a nutshell..”
meistersphere on Sep 24, 2011 at 00:39:14
“but you see, what is good and what is bad morals? that is why i raised the question. In a time beating your wife was morally correct, also dictating what she can and cannot do as well. Just a few years (exaggeration) we could go and date girls at 14yrs of age and it was alright and morally correct. may it be religious doctrine or just social laws at the time. Also I do believe you used it the word wrongly again, because you do not know if the child has changed their views or not, thus not becoming corrupt. For all we know the child could've already been in a state of corruption due to television, or any other sort of channels. A 14yr old boy goes on impulse (due to puberty unless puberty itself is corrupt), doesn't tell his parents a woman is sexting him, but yet when caught saids he feels what now? . Yes I will admit I skimmed through the article, BUT now that you cleared it up. WHY the hell did the parents allow the boy to go on a camping trip with another adult/family? And of course a school board member, aren't they the ones who enforce retarded rules at school and make new rules?”
“What about the parents rights to keep this adult woman who (should have known better) from continually sending inappropriate, and explicit material to an underage boy? The parent has a right to protect their child from her corrupting influence.”
“I am glad you posted that. I kept wondering reading these stories on here lately. I kept wondering why no one would listen if there was actual evidence showing his innocence. Now I understand, it doesn't really appear that there was actual evidence.”
“What I can't figure out is why the police had to do all this investigating to figure out who it was... An 11 month old baby??? There would have to have been some signs there of trauma and the parents changing a diaper should have noticed something. Why wasn't that reported???”
“Can you imagine what some people will want to do with this? Someone with a complete Marilyn Monroe obsession having that face projected onto their girlfriend's so they can have a fantasy with Marilyn. I can see the government already using it to assassinate someone with a projected face on them so the killer can't be positively identified for it....”
