“Obscenity under the guise of art.

Nice champion of homosexual rights?”

rbryanh replied on Nov 24, 2009 at 22:48:40

“Error #1: Like its cousin blasphemy, the concept of obscenity has no actual validity beyond expressing irrational fear and prejudice or use as a tool by which the powerful control the less so. Further, given that "obscenity under the guise of art" has been used to attack everyone from forgotten Greek sculptors to Gaugin and beyond, it's clear only posterity can tell the difference if there is one.

Error #2: Adam Lambert represents LGBT people to exactly the same degree that Britney Spears represents heterosexuals.”

StillIRise replied on Nov 12, 2009 at 09:26:15

“When did President Obama say that he "approved" of the war in Afghanistan?

He did say that the war in Afghanistan was the legitimate war, as opposed to the illegitimate war in Iraq, and therefore the war that must be attended to, so that we can bring responsible closure to it.

George Bush was as reckless and irresponsibile in engaging our troops in Afghanistan as he was in engaging our troops in Iraq, and then he ignored Afghanistan for 7 years, which is why it's the hell-hole it's become!

George Bush ACTED, and then became overwhelmed after the fact, making shambles of both wars.

I thank God for a President who gives thoughtful deliberation to a decision as life and death impacting as this one is! This is about making the right decisions, not making the fastest decisions!”

Zillacabra replied on Nov 06, 2009 at 13:17:02

“It's like this. If you're lazy for eight years you can easily put on a lot of excess pounds. If you want to remove those pounds you need to put in months and even years of hard work and the results only progress gradually. The more excess weight you've put on, the harder it is to remove.

GWB economic policy was like someone who sat at home stuffing his face with junk food for eight years, and when he couldn't afford the junk food himself he borrowed money to buy it anyway. Now that person carries 200 pounds of excess weight and he needs to lose those excess pounds to get healthy again. Obama is like the trainer hired to help this person lose weight, but the person isn't very motivated to cooperate.”
